16. Waiting

~Earlier that day~

Alyssa’s POV

I woke up to a text from Harry. I smiled as I read his typical good morning text along with a reminder of our date. I went to my closet and set out my outfit for the day. Then I walked over to my iHome and hooked up my phone to it putting my music on shuffle.

I danced across my room as I got things together. Once my bed was made, I grabbed my towel and walked to my restroom. As I was in the shower, I heard my favorite song, Unconditionally by Katy Perry, begin to play. I sung along to the song and did a little dance as I washed my hair.

When I was done in the shower, I got out and began to get ready. I walked back in my room and thought of what I should do first. Deciding on doing my hair, to get it out of the way, I walked over to my little vanity thing I had. I towel-dried my hair, then straightened it. Humming along to the song that was playing, I put my hair up in a simple ponytail.

Now done with my hair, started getting dressed. I put on my favorite pair of jeans. I then slid on a sky blue tank, putting a black cardigan over it. I slid up the sleeves a little bit, allowing my tattoo to show. I slid on my Vans and got my purse that matched. I snatched my phone up and headed to the kitchen. I looked at the time on the stove and saw that I only had about 10 minutes left, so I decided to just eat a banana rather than something big. I threw the peeling away once I was finished. By the time I walked out of the kitchen, there was a knock on the door. I grabbed my house keys and opened the door.

I was greeted by bright green eyes staring at my dark brown ones. I looked down with a small blush rising to my cheeks as I saw the roses in his hands. I looked back up as he reached his hand with the roses towards me.

“These are for you,” Harry said with a warming smile, his dimples showing. I returned the smile. I was pretty sure my dimples were showing as well.

“Thank you,” I thanked him. I took them and placed them in a nearby vase. We then walked out to his car. He opened my door for me and I thanked him once again. He went on his side and got in.

*Skip Car Ride*

We parked in front of a little pottery shop, “Bisque It”, the seemed to be empty. Harry seemed to have read my mind because he answered my unasked question. “I called ahead of time to reserve the place for us,” he said.

I nodded as we walked in. The lady at the front desk looked to be in her early twenties. “Hi. What would you like to paint today?” she asked as we walk toward her.

I answered while Harry thought about what he wanted. “I will like to paint a vase please,” I answered. She nodded then turned her attention to the boy standing beside me.

“Um, I would like to paint a mug,” he replied. I nudged him in the side. He looked at me confused and I gave him a ‘you know what’ look. He nodded then added, “Please.”

We sat at a random table that had some paints already set out. I grabbed the colors that I wanted to use. I chose to go with a aqua blue and a darkish purple. I looked at Harry to see that he had gone with orange, green, blue, and black. I tried to stifle my laugh at the weird arrangement of colors.

He looked up at me, probably from hearing my laugh, and gave me a confused look. “What?” he asked. I shook my head letting a soft laugh escape my lips.

“Nothing, it’s nothing,” I said. Just then the lady, Kelly, came with our pottery.

“When you’re finished, just let me know so I can put them in the back to dry,” she said as she began to leave. We thanked her and started painting. I lightly stroke my paintbrush over the vase, making a pretty pattern. While painting, Harry and I stole glances at each other, laughing when we caught each other looking.

My sleeves had slid down, so I pulled them back up. When I did this Harry looked up and saw the tattoo on my wrist. “When did you get that?” he asked, “I like it.”

I smiled, “Thanks. I got it yesterday.” I went back to focusing on my painting until I felt something cold touch my nose. I looked up to see Harry with paint on his finger and a mischievous grin. I looked on my nose and saw the paint.

“It’s on Styles,” I declared, “Two can play at that game.” I dipped my fingers in the paint and ran it across his face. The look he had on his face was priceless! He went to get me with the paint, but I got up and ran. It was a good thing that we were here alone.

When he almost caught up, I tripped over a chair leg. I rolled over on my back, resting my forearms against the floor, and saw Harry coming to help me. Once he reached me, he held his hand out. I took it and was pulled of the ground.

Since there was a little bit of force behind the pull, I fell into Harry’s arms. I looked up at him and he looked down, since I am way shorter than him, being only 5 feet tall. He started to lean in and I felt myself doing the same.

Right when our lips were about to connect, his phone rang. I backed away from Harry, hearing him groan in annoyance. I rolled my eyes and he answered the call after cleaning off his hands. “Hello,” he said.

I walked back to the table to clean up the mess made. When I was almost done I heard Harry shout behind me, “WHAT!?!?” I looked at him confused as I walked up to him. “Ok. We’ll meet you guys there,” he said hanging up the phone.

“What’s going on? What’s wrong? What happened?” I started firing questions at him. He ignored me to talk to Kelly. I saw her nod and Harry walked toward me. “Answer me, please. What’s going on?” I asked once again.

He looked at me with a serious look. “Rose is at the hospital. She was in a crash,” he answered. My eyes went wide. I was speechless. I ran out of the shop and to the car, Harry close behind. We hopped in and speed to the hospital.

‘Oh no. Oh God. Not Rose. Poor Rose’ I thought the whole car ride. Once Harry parked the car, I got out and sprinted toward the hospital doors. I looked around the waiting room for someone I knew.

The first person I saw was Niall. I ran up to him and gave him a hug. I know how he feels about Rose, so this would be the hardest on him. He was surprised at first, but hugged back when he realized it was me.

I didn’t know I was crying until Niall wiped away the tears on my face. I looked at him and could tell that he had been crying as well. “How is she?” I asked. I just had to know that she was ok. He looked down and hid his face as he began to cry again.

“I don’t know. They haven’t told me anything,” he replied. I gave him another hug. We I was released from the hug, I walked over to Harry. He pulled me into a big hug and I cried in his arms.

When my crying died down, we walked into the waiting room. That’s exactly what we did. We waited. A few hours passed by and we still haven’t heard any information on Rose’s condition.

Some time while waiting, Rose’s cousin, Dominique, had arrived at the hospital. She and Rose are quite close. She walked up to me and I gave her a long comforting hug. She joined us in waiting.

Some of the other fell asleep while Niall, Dom, Harry and I were still up. I could tell Harry was tired, but he refused to sleep, wanting to be there for me. How sweet?

I’m starting to get tired of waiting. Waiting to hear from someone. Waiting to hear about Rose or the baby. We sat there just waiting and waiting and more waiting. I hate waiting, especially since it’s about my friend and her child’s life.

This might be ended in about 10-15 chapters. I don't know yet, but would you guys want a sequal or epilogue. Let me know.

I was going to have this chapter finished and up yesterday, but since it was my birthday, I was barely home.
