3. Cute Conversations and White Lies....

I woke up hearing someone in tears. I walked over to the living room and saw Chloe on the couch crying. “Baby what’s wrong?” I asked. She handed me her phone and I opened it up to Twitter, reading all the hate. “Baby don’t listen to them you’re perfect.” I said. She nodded and laid her head on my lap. I smiled down at her but she didn’t smile back. I sighed and kissed her cheek. “Get some rest babe.” I said. “But I’m not tired.” Chloe whispered. “Yes you are babe I can tell….go to sleep I’ll be here when you wake up.” I said. “But I wanna stay with you.” Chloe said. “Alex how long until we get to the airport?” I asked. “About like…ten minutes.” Alex said. Oh well I guess she had no time to sleep. “I’ll take care of the haters baby.” I said. “I don’t want you to. They can hate for all I care.” Chloe said. “But you’ll get depressed…remember last time?” I asked. “Babe, I’ll be fine.” Chloe said. “No you wont be!” I yelled. She sighed and walked out of the room and onto the couch. “Babe I-“ “Austin don’t.” I heard. I sighed and laid down on my bed. “She is gonna be mad.” Alex said. “Why?” I asked. “Because you basically told her she cant handle hate, she hates being told she’s un able to do something.” Alex said. “Maybe she should wear the rainbow.” I said. Next thing I knew, Alex and I were showered in Skittles. “What was that for?!” I asked. “You said you wanted to wear the rainbow. So you’re wearing it.” Chloe said, not looking up from her pie. It was Skittle pie. Yes we all love Skittles in case you can’t tell. And I was kidding…it was chocolate pie with Skittles on top. Well not a lot like…one Skittle. “Austin will you stop staring at my pie? There’s more in the fridge if you want some.” Chloe said. I smiled and grabbed a piece. “Austin?” Chloe asked. “Yeah baby?” I asked. “Why don’t you call me babygirl anymore?” Chloe asked. “I thought you didn’t like it.” I said. “I loved it.” Chloe said. I turned and looked at her. She looked so tired, and sad. “Babygirl what’s wrong?” I asked. “Nothing.” Chloe said. I knew she was lying and I knew how to get it out of her. Too bad we only had ten minutes. I pulled her into my arms and leaned back against the counter. “Tell me baby.” I whispered in her ear. She shook her head, resisting. “Babe please I can’t help you if you don’t tell me what’s wrong.” I whispered. She shook her head again, and looked like she was about to cry. “Shh babe cm’ere.” I said, pulling her into my chest, stroking her hair. “I cut again.” Chloe said, out of the blue. “You what?!” I said. She looked down, obviously ashamed. “Babygirl, you can’t do that to yourself, you’re better than the haters, and much more beautiful. Don’t mess up your perfect skin for them, they aren’t worth it babe.” I said. She smirked and was instantly happy again. “I didn’t really cut I just wanted to get you to call me babygirl and I knew how to get it out of you.” Chloe said. I sighed. “Babygirl that’s not funny.” I said. “I know. I know but I hate it when you don’t call me that.” Chloe said. I sighed and held her close. She kissed my cheek and we stood there until the bus came to an abrupt halt and she was thrown on the floor. “Babe you okay?” I asked. She nodded and got back up. “Just shocked.” Chloe said. I loved how resilient she was, she never let anything phase her. Unlike me, I let everything phase me.
