What Would I Give?

What would I give to feel her squeeze my hand again? To feel her lips press against mine? To hear her sweet laugh? To look into her beautiful eyes? Or even to just say one last goodbye? The answer young 16 year old Niall Horan is simple, anything. Now three years later does he still mean it? Would he be willing to start all over? Or will her give up? Love always comes with a price. People say they would do anything for the ones they love. Do they really mean it though?

8. The Accident

Niall's Prospective:

It's been a week at the beach house we now call home. It's time to go home sadly.

"Come on Fay!" I yell to her putting the last of our bags in the back.

"I'm here don't worry!" she says running out of the house and locking the door behind her.

I open her door for her and she kisses me before climbing in. I climb into the driver door and start the car. "Ready to go back to Mullingar?" I ask as I start to drive.

"I wish we could stay here forever." she sighs looking out her window.

"Well come back. We own the place remember?" I say.

She nods and kisses me on the cheek. "Thank you for all this. Your amazing." she whispers in my ear.

We spend most of the rest of the ride in a comfortable silence, listening to the radio. We are about 20 minutes from home when something comes out of the blue and hits Fay's side of the car.

"Niall!" I hear Fay scream in agonizing pain before everything goes black.

My breath is erratic. My eyes blurry with tears. Everything was following apart. I fists clench and unclench as I sit in the uncomfortable chair in this god-for-saken waiting room. I hear the door swing open. Loud foot steps echo throughout the nearly empty room. "We're here for Fay Matthews. We're her family." I hear a voice I know to be her father's.

I look up to see the nurse pointing over to me saying, "Please wait."

Her little brother, Ronan, runs out of his older brothers arms and into mine. He's been crying they all have. "Niall." He says quietly holding me close.

I hug him back and say, "It's going to be okay. She's going to be fine." I find I'm say this more to convince me then him. I look up at her family. Her older brother, Finn, her father, Amon, her mother, Bria, and her Gran and Gramps. I stand up, Ronan's arm still holding tight to my waist. "I'm so so sorry! This is all my fault!"

Her mother hugs me. "This is not your fault Niall. You would never hurt her, we know that. It's that son-of-a-bitch who hit you guys fault not yours." She says.

"It should be me, not her, me." I say.

She pulls back to look at my face, saying, "I would love it if this never happened, but I'm happier it's not her out here waiting to see if you would be okay. She could never handle that. If something happens to her I know it will kill you, but you'll live on and move on. She wouldn't be able to do that. If something happened to you she would literally die. So, please be strong like I know you are, like she knows you are."

I nod and whip the tears from my eyes. Finn puts his hand on my shoulder and then hugs me. I was shocked, the most he'd ever shown that he knew I was actually there was to threaten me not to hurt Fay. Fay my little raven. I hear foot steps and Finn pulls away. I see a doctor come into the room.

"Is this the family of Miss Fay Matthews?" He asks.

Amon looks back at me, puts his hand on my shoulder before turning back to the doctor and saying, "Yes we're her family."

"I'm Doctor James Rider, I'm going to be Fay's doctor. Please have a seat." Dr. Rider says. We do as he says and then he continues, "Fay is... She's... She's in a coma. We have no idea when she's going to wake up. It could be days, weeks, months, even years. We are so sorry we did all we could. Her brain is still fully functional so there is a much higher chance that she'll wake."

This can't be happening. Just yesterday we were swimming and laughing. We were making plans to addition for the X-Factor. I can't loose her now.

"Can we see her?" Amon asks his voice cracking.

"Of course." he says leading us down a hall and into a small room with one bed and a couple chairs

I sit in the chair next to the bed and look at the beautiful love of my life. Her face is scratched much like mine and she has a cast on her left wrist.

"She also has a couple of broken ribs, a broken left wrist and right ankle." Dr. Rider says.

"Thank you." Amon says.

I never take my eyes off her beautiful face. She looks so peaceful and calm. I take her soft hand in mine. The thought runs through my mind that I might never get to feel her squeeze my hand again. That I might never see her beautiful grey eyes again. What would I give to feel her squeeze my hand? To see her eyes looking into mine again? Or to see her smile? The answer is simple. Anything.
