7. Goodbye for Now

“I want you to go with me to ShadowClan to talk with Blackstar.” The she-cat followed her leader and brother till they hit the border.

“We’ll wait till a patrol comes; we just don’t barge in on a Clans territory, unlike WindClan.” The three ThunderClan cats didn’t have to wait long. A ShadowClan patrol saw them and came toward the boarder. Crescentmoon recognized Tawnypelt, Redwillow, Toadfoot, and Tigerheart from gatherings. Tawnypelt led the group,

“What are you doing so close to the ShadowClan boarder Firestar?” The ginger tom looked at Tawnypelt,

“I wish to speak with Blackstar.” The tortoiseshell she-cat nodded her head and started towards the ShadowClan camp. Once again Crescentmoon strayed to the back of the group Tigerheart behind her. His whisper made the ThunderClan she-cat jump.

“How’s Dovewing.” Crescentmoon had found out about the two meeting one night when she was out with Breezepelt. She sighed and looked at the dark brown tabby tom. His amber eyes pleading.

“She’s fine, still wishing she never met you.” He flinched back at her words.

“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to--” he shook his head.

“It’s okay; she has every right to be angry with me.” Crescentmoon licked his ear and turned back to the cats in front of her. When the group entered the camp hostile gazes bored into Crescentmoon. As they walked to the leaders den, Crescentmoon caught the eye of Applefur. The mottled brown she-cat saw Crescentmoon’s brother and ran after them to meet Blackstar. A large white tom with huge jet-black paws stepped out of his den.

“What brings you to ShadowClan Firestar?” Firestar dipped his head,

“I wish to speak to you in private.” Blackstar tilted his head to the den he came out of. They both went into the den leaving Crescentmoon and Braveclaw in the camp that they were not welcomed in. Ferretpaw looked out of the apprentices den and ran towards her.

“Crescentmoon, Ghostclaw!” Pinepaw and Starlingpaw came out after him. The three of them swarmed Crescentmoon and her brother Pinepaw hopped up and down, while Starlingpaw and Ferretpaw talked nonstop. Blackstar poked his head out of the den,

“Crescentmoon, Ghostclaw will you come in here please.” We walked slowly to the leaders den, Firestar was sitting next to the nest of pine nettles.

“Firestar tells me that you wish to come live in ShadowClan.” My brother nodded

“I want to be there for my kits and Applefur.” Cresentmoon could tell that Blackstar didn’t approve of his choice in mate.

“Very well, but my cats won’t agree with you suddenly coming to live with us.” Crescentmoon’s stomach twisted as she saw her brother smile weakly.

“I can handle it; I’ve been through it once. I can do it again.” Nothing prepared Crescentmoon for what happened next. The ShadowClan leader never saw kindly to ThunderClan cats.

“Welcome to ShadowClan Ghostclaw.” Ghostclaw dipped his head, and stood,

“I think you should sleep in the nursery with Applefur, until everyone gets used to the idea of you being here.” Ghostclaw smiled weakly,

“Thanks you so much Blackstar.” The leader swished his tail so that the three could leave. Applefur ran over her belly fur extended to show that she was indeed expecting kits. She turned to Firestar,

“Thank you.” The ThunderClan leader’s eyes softened

“Don’t thank me, thank Crescentmoon. She convinced me to come here and speak with Blackstar.” The mottled brown she-cat pushed her muzzle into Crescentmoon’s,

“Thank you so much, you don’t know how much this means to me.” Her tail was twined with Crescentmoon’s brothers. As she pulled away Ghostclaw pushed his muzzle into his sister’s,

“Tell Splashfur, Scorchtail, and Riverstorm I said I love them, and I love you Crescentmoon. You are by far the best sister a cat could ever have.” Firestar and Crescentmoon turned away and headed back to ThunderClan. As they crossed the border Firestar stopped.

“I think it’s your turn.” Crescentmoon’s ears pricked as she looked into the green eyes of the ginger tom next to her.

“When Breezepelt asked me if you were expecting kits. It gave a lot away. Go.” He thrust his head to the moors. Crescentmoon nodded and started running. Rain started to fall; it soaked the she-cat within minutes. A black pelt flashed pasted her; Breezepelt’s scent was carried with the wind. The cat that ran in front of her stopped with a rabbit in their jaws.

“Crescentmoon is that you!?” He ran back around and set his rabbit on the ground.

“What are you doing here?” His amber eyes glowed in the pale moonlight that managed to get through the clouds.
