2. Balcony Chat

*Elizabeth’s POV*

Oh. My. Gosh. I kept staring at him. Why? He was good looking, attractive, AND shirtless. This is like heaven to my eyes. I realized I must have been drooling by now. I shook my head and blinked quickly a few times. He looked at me with a confused expression. “Problem?” he said with attitude. “It’s kind of early in the morning and your playing music really loudly,” I said with a calm voice.

“It’s early in the morning, what do you want?” he said. Again, attitude. How am I going to live with him beside me? “Well, I just wanted to ask if you could turn the music down or turn it off?” I asked. I tried to put it as sweet as possible. “I accidentally hit the play button. I was just getting to bed. Now, since you know the story, you may go,” he said while closing the door shut. I stopped it with my foot. “I live next door to you by the way,” I said in a long voice.

“Goodnight,” he said. With that, he shut the door in my face. Rude. I stood at the door for about 15 more seconds before I walked back to my apartment. Before I opened my door, the neighbor’s door opened. “I hope you like it here. I’m Zayn,” he said before smiling. “Elizabeth,” I said with a smile. “Goodnight,” he said. “Night,” I said with a big smile.

I closed the door behind me. I cleaned up my living room, washed the dishes, and made my bed. I didn’t feel like sleeping tonight. I wasn’t tired. I headed to the balcony. I was wearing a white t-shirt and blue plaid pajama pants. I put a wool cardigan on, which I found in one of my clothing boxes. I put it on. It still kept me warm.

I opened the balcony door and closed it behind me. Before I came out, I made myself a cup of hot chocolate. I looked over my view. I placed the cup on my handle bar and I placed both my hands to keep warm. The wind was blowing towards my face. This was the perfect moment for silence.

These balconies are weird. We share one huge balcony with one neighbor. I have to share it with the guy next door, Zayn. Oh well, as long as I get my peace and quite at night. I’ve always loved staring into the sky or looking down at London before bed. It soothed me in a way.

“You still up?” I heard a voice beside me. It was Zayn. “Oh, hi. Yeah, I like being outside looking into the sky before bed. Cheesy, I know, but it helps when I’m stressed,” I explained to him. “What are you stressed about?” he asked. “Just the move and my mom,” I explained. “Oh, what’s wrong with your mom?” he said in a soothing voice. “Here, take my hot chocolate. I’m going to make another one inside. Grab blankets from your flat, it’s going to be story time,” I said. He chuckled and got up.

I explained to him about my mom and dad. He actually never left his eyes off me. He seemed… interested. He told me about himself too, how he lived by himself for a year now. He told me that he couldn’t swim. Wow, what a girl.

We sat on this little couch thing that was outside. He placed it there. He told me that he liked coming outside at night too. He was very interesting. I liked him, he seemed like a very good neighbor.

“What do you do for a living?” he asked. “I work for a small restaurant near by. I had to get a job once I left my mom. The pay will keep me here, I hope,” I replied. “Everything will go your way, trust me,” he said with a smile.

“I think I should go. I’m meeting up with friends tomorrow,” he said while folding the blankets and putting them into a neat pile. I took the cups and hooked the handles with 2 of my fingers. I helped him fold up one of the blankets. “Goodnight,” I said. He came up to me and kissed me on the cheek. “Night,” he said while winking.

I blushed and headed inside. I put the cups in the sink and headed to my bed. I lay down with my warm blanket above me.

I checked the time. It was freaking 5:30 in the morning and I couldn’t fall asleep. There was suddenly a knock on the door. I got to see who it was. It was some weird 50-year-old looking man. I opened the door seeing what he wants.

“Are you new here?” he asked. “Yes,” I said in a long voice. “Well I can’t fix your bathroom sink today. We’ll have someone else come and fix your system,” he suggested. “I’ll fix it myself,” I said with a smile. He agreed and left.

I got out of the shower and got dressed. I wanted to look around the neighborhood and go to the library. I’m working on this new thing for school. I was still in my pajamas when I realized I had to close the door! Stupid Elizabeth, always forgetting things. I heard a noise coming from my bathroom. I opened the door and there was water EVERYWHERE! I tried turning off the tap but I couldn’t! There was water aimed to my face!

I heard someone come in. I slipped and almost fell until someone grabbed me by my waist. They were getting their back wet because they were looking down, probably. My eyes were closed for a few seconds getting ready for the pain. I felt drops on my face. I open my eyes to see who it was holding me. I see Zayn in front of me, wet and shirtless.
