Only 15; Broken home; Forgotten parents; Lost in her journey of life.
Scarlett relies on her best friend, music, to get her through life, wishing everybody would leave her alone and forget her so she can live and die in peace. When two persistent ex-best friends pop up, Scarlett not only has to choose between the two, but when given a life-changing choice, choose between her life and another.

5. The Secret Mission

The rest of the morning went by normally. Instead of receiving awkward stares and occasional glares, people stared in awe at the two friends walking together from lesson to lesson. They hadn't exchanged a word since the fiasco in the morning, but felt so content in each other's silence to care.

They were true best friends for life, that had become obvious now, but Scarlett couldn't help but feel a little bitter at the fact they would be nothing more. The stinging from the cuts that had before completely disappeared now returned and as harshly as ever.

Ace was amazed by how easily Scarlett had took him in again. If going emo was all it took to got her then this would be easier than it looked. See, Ace was on a mission. A mission to make Scarlett fall in love with her and then break her heart just as she had completely blocked him and Chase out when she fell into depression. He had always crushed on her since starting high school but she was the only girl in the whole class who never fell for him. This frustrated Ace because he was always used to being the best and getting what he wanted. Call him heartless but she deserved it, he always thought.

He had always spent his life being overshadowed by his older brothers who had definitely gotten places he knew he couldn't get to. He fell into depression in the summer holidays after year 8, but quickly recovered with this secret mission about a month later. He used the last month of the holidays to make his plan perfect and told Chase it too.

Chase, being the loving child he is, disagreed profusely and refused to sabotage the friendship of Scarlett over the bitterness of a teenage boy. Ace may be his best friend, but Scarlett was also his best friend, and she didn't deserve what she was about to get.

Ace obviously ignored Chase's pleas to stop and kept planning. If this was her state right now then she'll practically be falling at my feet by the end of this week, Ace thought slyly, too blinded by the pain of her reject to see what he was actually doing.

The last lesson before lunch was always the one the dragged the most. Scarlett sat at the keyboard, in music, staring out of the window, feeling thoughtful as her teacher rambled on about twelve-bar-blues and the like. Eventually the bell went and Scarlett was the first to get out of class, eager to feel some freedom in her locked up jail cell of life. Realising how quickly she gotten out, she hung around, outside the door, waiting for Ace, ignoring the evil glares of the girls that came out.

He smiled a cute grin at her when he realised she was waiting, and she gave him one of her own smiles back to make the feeling mutual, and so they trudged off to hang in the arts corridor. It was quite far away from her music class which was quite ironic considering music was treated like an art in her school. Ace held the door open for her and she blushed slightly every time he did. They were about halfway into their journey when the inevitable happened- Ace's hand grabbed on to Scarlett's and he interlocked their fingers together.

Scarlett immediately put her head down to hide her growing blush, smiling widely at the joy of what happened. Ace was also smiling, but not in the content, happy way Scarlett was- he was quite happy thinking that the plan had already begun.
