Too Broken

Based on a true story. Kat has been moved across the world from America to Austrailia. She's left behind the only love she's ever found, that broke her to pieces. And its not the first time either. Can she find love and be fixed? Or is she too broken?

5. Jealousy

The next few days crept by quickly. I didn't do much but unpack boxes until my room looked like home. Almost at least. Mo, my stepsister, had been with us for a few days. I wasn't fond of sharing my room but she was an easy roommate. She picked up after herself and stayed to herself most of the time. One afternoon Mo and I decided to sit outside on the sidewalk and chill. We liked doing this sometimes, normally as soon as we sat down all of the little neighborhood kids would come out and crowd us asking to play different games. They were adorable, all at least 5 years younger than us. While playing freeze tag with the little munchkins I felt like I was being watched. I turned my head slightly and my eyes caught the gaze of Ethan. He smiled and waved. I smiled shyly back at him. I called pause on the kids and told them I'd be right back. Ethan came over to my sidewalk. I decided I'd introduce him to Mo, who was sitting on my right. Before I could say a word Ethan looked at Mo and said "Hey Mo! How've you been?" She giggled "Great Ethan!" Of course they already knew each other Mo had lived on Austrailia for 10 years before I came here, and she was in our new house a month before us. Ethan sat down next to her. My insides began to boil with jealousy. Jealousy? I can't possibly begin to feel jealous. Ethan's not mine and I don't want him to be. I've already decided that. I turned my attention back to their discussion. They were talking about how Mo had to go to her moms next week, and how she was apparently dreading it. He gave her an 'Awww I'm sorry' look and hugged her. My ears must've been blowing steam by then. How could my own step sister take him from me. "Mo we have to go. Sorry Ethan." I said and grabbed Mo's arm to pull her up. "What? Why?" She asked. "Mom wants us to make dinner tonight." I lied. Well it wasn't a complete lie. We were asked to make dinner, but not until 6 and it was only 4. I said a quick goodbye to Ethan and dragged her inside. We went into the kitchen and I put some water on the stove and turned to face Mo with a dreamy look on her face. "Mo." "What" "Can you get out some vegetables?" "Oh yeah, sure." It was silent for a moment before she spoke up. "Have you ever noticed how often Ethan smiles?" She asked me. "Nope." I replied blankly. "He smiles a lot. He has a rather nice smile too." I know, I thought in my head. "He's got some pretty eyes too." Okay that's all I could take from her. "Mo, I'll finish dinner, you can go do whatever." "Gee thanks Kat!" She said in her bubbly voice and she bounced away. I sighed. I couldn't hide from it anymore. I had feelings for Ethan, and apparently I wasn't the only one.
