Four Years Later... (Sequel to 'Behind the Truth')

*Sequel to 'Behind the Truth'*

It's been 4 years. 4 years since I moved to New York. 4 years since I left my friends. It was difficult, but I planned to cope without them.

Ever wondered you could turn back the time and wished you were young again?

Carter Hanson hasn't seen her old friends in four years. She changed, they changed, everything changed.

Sometimes, Carter can't seem to take a break. Not even when she reunites with her old friends. And yes, her old friends are the world-famous boyband, One Direction.

Follow her journey to see how complicated her life is even when her friends are on her side. Secrets are meant to be hidden, but eventually will be revealed.

"Sometimes I have the luck that every girl wants, but not the life..."

36. Typical Shopping Day.

Carter's POV:

"Hey Carter?" Liam called out to me.

It was 3 in the afternoon and today was a day filled with relaxation and silence. For me. The others went out shopping for an occasion coming up that I was completely clueless about.

I looked up from my phone to Liam, who had entered my room. "Oh, hey Li. I thought you'd be with everyone else right now."

He shrugged, sitting by my knees on the bed. "Nah. I don't really like shopping that much. So Zayn and I stayed behind."

I raised an eyebrow, "Oh, really?" Just as I was about to ask where Zayn was, he walked in, letting out a small smile. He sat beside me on the other side of the bed without saying a word. "So, what do you guys need?"

"What? We can't spend time with one of our best friends?" Zayn spoke.

I rolled my eyes, "Of course not." I said sarcastically. "What do you wanna do then?"

"I was hoping to go out for lunch. Y'know, talk, laugh, have some fun." Liam suggested. "Then maybe we could catch up with everyone while shopping."

I nodded, "Sounds like a plan. Let me go get ready."

Lunch was quite fun with Liam and Zayn, if I do say so myself. Their cheekiness and dorkiness made it really hard for me to not laugh. On the other hand, lunch was delicious. They treated me to some Italian restaurant just a few blocks away from the hotel.

"Wait, wait, wait, wait.." I said as I tried to catch my breath from laughing, "Zayn did what?!"

"He slipped on the bra when Harry threw it back on the ground when he wasn't looking!" Liam laughed uncontrollably, making his eyes close to a chinky squint.

"Hey, mate. That wasn't funny. I didn't see it coming." Zayn pouted, playfully smacking Liam's arm.

I hugged Zayn from the side, "Aw, Zaynie.." I really couldn't help but laugh. When I caught my breath and stopped laughing, I calmed down and looked around my surroundings. "So, where are we going next?"

"Actually, instead of catching up with the others, we thought it would be nice to shop ourselves. I kind of like this group we have right now." Zayn suggested.

I pursed my lips and shrugged, "Yeah, I guess we could do that."

"Before we shop for our clothes, we need to buy you a dress for tonight." Liam said, catching me off guard.

"What? Tonight? For what?" I asked curiously.

"The lads didn't tell you?" Liam responded.

I shook my head, "Nope."

"Well, I guess we should tell her, Zayn." Liam glanced at Zayn as he nodded back in response. "We got nominated for a Teen Choice Awards. Actually 3 categories. We were hoping you would like to join us. I know you don't want to be since with cameras everywhere, but trust me, everything will be okay. Nobody will know who you are if you don't get dragged in to those interviews by the carpet."

"Well if nobody knows who I am, then what's the point of going? Won't rumors go around then?"

"It might. But we can't just leave you in the hotel room alone while we're the ones going out and having fun." Zayn nudged me. "We need you to come, so we can all have fun."

I sighed, taking a long moment to find the right decision. I mean, what could possibly happen if they didn't know who I was? "A-Alright. Fine."

I nodded, "I'll go with you guys. You're just lucky I love you."

Liam and Zayn cooed, "Aww. We love you too, Carter."

I was suddenly sandwiched between them as they pulled me to a side-hug and wrapped their arms around me. It was a suffocating experience, but I knew that they were happy.

About an hour later, I found myself trying on a bunch of fancy dresses at a boutique somewhere in Melrose Avenue with Liam and Zayn waiting outside of my dressing room. I couldn't decide on which dress to buy, because they were all very beautiful.

"How about this?" I asked the boys right when I got out of the fitting room. I twirled for them as if I was a model going to a fashion show.

Liam and Zayn stroked their chins, examining me carefully. "Nope. Nope." They were taking my look completely seriously. I have tried on 5 dresses and they disagreed too every one of them.

I took their critiques kindly and waltzed back into my booth. I tried on the seventh dress I had chosen, hoping they would agree on the one I thought was perfect. I swept opened the curtains and walked out, only to be seeing Liam and Zayn's mouth wide opened as they stared at me.

"Well? Is this better?" I asked, holding back a giggle.

They just nodded in response.
