Four Years Later... (Sequel to 'Behind the Truth')

*Sequel to 'Behind the Truth'*

It's been 4 years. 4 years since I moved to New York. 4 years since I left my friends. It was difficult, but I planned to cope without them.

Ever wondered you could turn back the time and wished you were young again?

Carter Hanson hasn't seen her old friends in four years. She changed, they changed, everything changed.

Sometimes, Carter can't seem to take a break. Not even when she reunites with her old friends. And yes, her old friends are the world-famous boyband, One Direction.

Follow her journey to see how complicated her life is even when her friends are on her side. Secrets are meant to be hidden, but eventually will be revealed.

"Sometimes I have the luck that every girl wants, but not the life..."

12. Park Day.

Carter's POV:

"We're here!" Louis exclaimed when the car came to a stop. I snapped my head up from Niall's shoulder and looked at the view of where we were. I've never seen this place before. Where were we?

"Um, Lou?" I called. He turned to me. "Where are we?"

"We are in Central Park, silly!" Louis chuckled. He grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the car. "Come on, Carter! Don't be a lazy bum."

"Lou, calm down. I'm just a girl." I joked. I leaped out of the black van and followed behind everyone to the maze of trees surrounding us. When Louis says it's private, it is private.

I sat down on the grass right beside Eleanor, watching Louis and Niall attempt to climb the huge rock just several meters in front of us. We giggled when Niall almost kicked Louis in the face when he was almost up. For grown men, they act so immature.

"Have you and Louis ever thought of marriage?" I suddenly blurted out to Eleanor. I expected to see her widen her eyes at my question, but no. She didn't.

She just laughed. "Never actually did, no. We have been together for a long time now. I guess Louis isn't ready yet.." She shrugged and gave Louis a thumbs up when he reached the top of the rock.

"But are you ready?"

"I mean, when the time comes. Of course I'm ready." She scoffed. "So, what about you?"

I flinched, "I'm only eighteen-"

"No." She grinned. "I didn't mean that. I meant, have you thought about Harry? Or do you have a crush on another guy?"

"More like forced relationship." I mumbled.

Eleanor gasped. "What?"

Before I could explain, we all felt something cold and wet hitting our backs. Louise, Jasmine, Eleanor, and I all shrieked at the cold water and stood up. Niall and Liam started to throw water balloons at us while Louis and Zayn squirted us with water guns.

Luckily for me, I brought my water gun myself. I took it out and everyone stopped what they were doing. They knew the kind of water gun I had. I had the one with the strong water pressure. That's right, I was always one step ahead of them. I smirked evilly and the boys started to back away carefully.

"Surrender?" I warned them. They didn't answer, instead, they just continued to throw water at us. I squirted my full pressure water gun at them and they screamed. I laughed at their girly shrieks and continued to soak them with water.

I saw Liam running away from me, but Louise tripped him and he turned to me in fear. I unloaded my water gun, and Liam screamed at the coldness hitting his face. He grabbed Niall by the ankle and he tripped. The girls had taken over the bucket of water balloons and started to pelt them at Niall and Liam, making them scream for help from the other guys.

I sensed someone behind me and turned, unloading my water gun to whoever was behind me. Louis stumbled over Zayn as the girls went towards them and pelted them with their water balloons.

"I surrender!" Liam yelled, laughing hysterically. His entire body was completely wet that I could almost see his abs through his white shirt.

"Liam! Don't be a baby! Don't surrender!" Louis said loudly. Eleanor threw him the last water balloon in his face and he screamed. "Fine. I surrender. But that's only because you threw the last water balloon."

Louise, Jasmine, Eleanor, and I high fived each other, laughing at our victory against the boys. "Louis, didn't I tell you once? I'm always one step ahead of you." I rested my hand on my hip and shook my head.

He suddenly grabbed my ankle, making me trip onto Niall and laughed maniacally. "Yeah, right." He rolled his eyes and stood up, walking like a penguin.

"Oh Carter... those were the days." Louis sighed happily. "Thanks to you, we thought that you girls would be the ones getting wet. But apparently, you outsmarted us and got us wet. We are the ones who didn't bring the extra clothes."

I stuck my tongue out at him. "Heh."

A few hours after our water fight, we decided to lie down on the grass and look up at the sky to dry off since me and the girls were all too lazy to change into our extras. Our heads formed a circle with me right between Niall and Liam.

"I've actually never had that much fun in a while." Niall suddenly said quietly.

My head turned to him. "What do you mean? You have fun all the time."

"We do. But never this much fun. Whenever we were with Harry or you, we would have an amazing time together. After you  left, it was just... not so much.."

"I'm sure that's not true." I stated, turning my head back to face the sky. "I mean, didn't you have Harry there for you?"

"Nope. Face it Carter. Without you, we were nothing. Now that you're back, we can finally have the old times back again..." Liam mused.

"What did you do before you even met me?" I questioned.

"We had the old, fun, Harry with us. After you came into his life and left, he became quiet." Louis chimed in. "Speaking of Harry, did any of you guys have any missed calls from him?"

A few murmurs of 'yes' were made from everyone. I looked at my phone and saw I had 2 missed calls and a text.

'From: Mom

Carter Hanson! Where are you?!'

"I-uh, I have to go." I stood up. "My mom's home. If I'm not back in 30 minutes, my mom's going to ground me for all eternity!" I grabbed my things and rushed towards the car.

"Carter! Wait!" They all called after me. "We'll take you."

"That's sweet, but you guys stay here. I'll have to run." I sighed. "Besides, I'm going to need the exercise."

"Carter, it's okay-"

"Wait." A husky voice interrupted us. Our heads looked towards the direction of the familiar, husky voice.

I gulped as I saw him come closer. "I'll take her home."
