27. Niall's Suprises.

Carter's POV:

At 8am, I was dressed up for a day with Niall. He woke me up early so that he could take me somewhere. I was confused, but went along with it anyway. I threw on a white tank top with a black cardigan, a denim skirt, my white beanie, and some silver flats that I had bought from yesterday.

Speaking of yesterday, did I mention what happened when I walked in on that awkward incident? No? Well, here's what happened;

Flashback (yesterday):

They pulled away instantly and looked at me as if they were finally caught. I jerked my head away from them, looked back, then looked away, not knowing what to do. "I-uh, needed to use.. t-the restroom.." I told them.

They straightened themselves off of each other as I continued to wait for them to leave. "Sorry.." I heard Harry mumble as he pulled Taylor out of the bathroom, leaving me a little scarred.

I just caught my friends making out.

That's not something you see every day.

Flashback Over.

I tried to take my mind off of them and continue on, which I did. Just a little, I guess. It wasn't like it was bothering me.

I quickly brushed my teeth when Niall texted me to hurry up. Then, I quietly stuffed my phone and a couple of tens into my pockets and walked out of the room, carefully trying not to wake Harry in his sleep.

Niall smiled at me when I walked in the living room. I smiled back as he stood up to hug me. Once we pulled away, I started to ask him questions of where we were going.

He stopped me, using his hands. "Carter. Calm down. It's a secret."

I sulked, wondering where in the world he would take me this early in the morning. It was almost 8:30 when we got to his car parked in the back of the hotel. I slid in the passenger seat right beside Niall as he started the ignition to the car and moved.

Niall and I started talking about random things along the way, and before I knew it, I saw that we were almost in an empty highway. "Uh, Ni?"

"Yes, Carter?" He said with a straight face.

"Where are we going? Can you tell me now? 'Cause I'm getting kind of scared." I half-joked. I saw no highway signs yet, except for those pit stop signs coming in a mile.

"Fine, we're going to see someone." He replied. "That's all I'm telling you."

"Someone? As in?" I raised my eyebrows.

He ignored me, "Someone, alright? I told you, it's a surprise." He didn't look at me. He just continued driving. "Don't worry, the boys and I have no rehearsals today. We have our first concert around 8 tonight."

"We'll be back. Liam knows where I am. Don't worry." He reassured me. I started to calm down, because I didn't want to be the reason Niall was going to be late for his own concert.

Finally after almost an hour had passed, Niall spoke up and stopped the car. I was asleep when he shook me awake. "Carter. Wake up."

I sat up and immediately looked at my view. I saw nothing but a huge arena. "What?"

"We're here!" He cheered. He got out of the car, opening the door for me. I reluctantly got out of the car, still a little confused as to where we are.

"Niall..." He took my hand, leading me to the back of the arena.

"Niall Horan." He said to the bodyguard. The bodyguard checked his clipboard and opened the door for us. I kept on looking around my surroundings to find out where I was, since Niall wouldn't tell me a peep of what or where we were.

Niall stopped in his tracks when we stood by a door. He knocked on it, giving me a quick smirk before some lady opened it. "Someone's here to see you." The lady said to someone in the room.

Niall let me in the room first as I continued to look clueless. Then, a figure came out. I stopped in my tracks and felt my mouth completely drop open. "E-E-E-E-E-E-E-ED... S-SHEERAN...?" I stammered mentally.

Ed chuckled, sticking out his hand for me to shake. "That's right." Gosh, his accent was infectious. I shook his hand vigorously before we let go. I turned to Niall, "Is this your big surprise?"

He shrugged, "Yeah. I felt bad we tricked you into meeting us instead of him. I heard he was in California a few hours from here, so as a best friend and celebrities with connections, I figured; why not?"

"So you planned this?" I guessed.

Niall nodded, "Kind of. I mean, I'm your best friend, right?" He paused, earning a laugh from me. "Enough about me, Carter! You have Ed Sheeran standing right behind you. Mingle, chat, talk, whatever you do. I'll be by the snack table if you need me!"

Talking to Ed Sheeran would have to be the best thing that has happened to me in my life. I mean, he was adorable, smart, cool, funny, sweet, and is a really good singer. I especially love his ginger hair. It was a big turn on for all the girls.

We ended up talking for about a few more hours, talking about either random things or ourselves. That is, up until Ed Sheeran's manager told him he had to get ready for his concert tonight. He offered to stay until the concert, but I remembered that Niall had to leave for his concert, so I saldy denied. But, at least I got his phone number!

"So, I'll talk to you soon then?" Ed said, handing me a ripped piece of paper with his number.

I nodded, accepting it. "Yeah. Good luck at your concert." He smiled and nodded before taking off with his stage manager to the other direction backstage. Niall came back a second later, peeking at what I was dreamily staring at; his number.

"Wow, looks like somebody got Ed Sheeran's number.." He sang.

I chuckled, tackling him with a tight hug. He was pretty much caught off guard, so he fell on the ground. This boy does not have good balance.

We both laughed when we fell to the ground, almost causing a small scene with the workers. It was a bit awkward, but everyone probably knew we were only friends, so I guess it was no big deal.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you soo much, Nialler!" I said a second after we landed on the ground.

He grinned, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. "No problem, Carter."

We stared at each other for a moment, not realizing what we were doing for half the time. I almost saw him lean in, but when I finally snapped to reality, I got off him, grabbing his hand while I was at it. I looked over to the nearest clock to see it was only 5pm.

Niall exhaled, not really knowing what to do next. To be honest, neither did I. "W-why don't we go have some lunch on our way back?"

I decided to push whatever awkward moment we had and smiled, "I'd like that."

Louis' POV:

"So where is Niall and Carter?" I asked. The lads and I were already backstage, waiting for Niall and Carter to come. Apparently, they left early in the morning and never came back since. What were they doing?

Liam sighed, "Niall just told me they were going to visit someone. He says it's in Bakersfield or something."

Bakersfield? "Isn't that like 2-3 hours from here? Why would they go there for?" I quizzed.

Liam shrugged, "I don't know anything, mate. Ask Niall or Carter when they get here. Because that's all I know."

I sat beside Zayn, rubbing my temples. It was 1 hour until showtime and Niall hasn't shown up yet. It couldn't actually be that long to go to Bakersfield, right? Depending on the time they left Bakersfield, I guess. I am going to murder Niall for being late.

Niall suddenly ran in, holding Carter's hand from behind. "Sorry we're late, lads. Carter had to go back to the hotel to change."

Jasmine stood up, "Where have you guys been? It's one hour until showtime and you have the nerve to come late?"

"Sorry, princess. I was just giving Carter a little surprise since I felt bad for not hanging out yesterday." He said to Jasmine, kissing her cheek.

Zayn stood up, "Well Niall, you have to go get dressed."

"Got it." He excused himself, following Zayn to their dressing room. I walked to Carter, who looked a little suspicious. I didn't really want to say anything in front of Jasmine, so I excused myself and Carter and pulled her to a corner.

"Talk." I crossed my arms, looking very serious.

"There's nothing to say." She looked away innocently.

"Oh, ho-ho. There is something to say, missy. Something going on between you and Niall? Did something happen, huh? Where did you go? What did you do?" I bombarded her with a bunch of questions I've been dying to ask when I realized they were missing.

She stopped me with her hands. "Nothing, alright? Niall surprised me to go meet Ed Sheeran 2-3 hours from here. Since you guys tricked me into thinking you were Ed Sheeran..." She glared at me. "...he felt bad, so he arranged something."

I was convinced that he took her to meet Ed, but I wasn't convinced on what happened between them. If I knew Niall, I knew that he would always be a little too quiet when and if he was hiding something. I just did.

She sighed, "So, am I free to go?"

I uncrossed my arms, giving in. "Go."

This was not over.
