Four Years Later... (Sequel to 'Behind the Truth')

*Sequel to 'Behind the Truth'*

It's been 4 years. 4 years since I moved to New York. 4 years since I left my friends. It was difficult, but I planned to cope without them.

Ever wondered you could turn back the time and wished you were young again?

Carter Hanson hasn't seen her old friends in four years. She changed, they changed, everything changed.

Sometimes, Carter can't seem to take a break. Not even when she reunites with her old friends. And yes, her old friends are the world-famous boyband, One Direction.

Follow her journey to see how complicated her life is even when her friends are on her side. Secrets are meant to be hidden, but eventually will be revealed.

"Sometimes I have the luck that every girl wants, but not the life..."

39. Missing.

Carter's POV:

"Thank you so much for doing this." I said right when I got into the car. I slipped on my seat belt and looked back to the awards building, seeing the boys all happy with their fellow stars and friends after winning. I knew they would win and I was more than happy for them. I just couldn't take what's been happening. I was just too tired to do anything right now.

"If you need anything, I'm always here for you. You know that." He rubbed my knee as he started the car.

"You know you shouldn't have done this. You're suppose to be having fun with everyone. They're probably having an after party or something. Plus, your girlfriend might get worried." I told him, feeling bad.

"Hey, when my best friend's in need, of course I'll be there for her. I already told her that I was going somewhere and that I wouldn't be at the hotel. Plus, she's gonna catch up with us soon." He explained thoroughly.

I sighed, "I guess so. I just need to go way for a while."

He simply nodded, "Of course, Carter. Anything you need, I'll be here." He didn't look at me, instead he just smiled and kept his eyes on the street.

"Thanks Zayn."

Harry's POV:

It was almost midnight and I was still not done looking for Carter. Was I the one who drove her away? Maybe it was my fault for pressuring her into doing something when I have a girlfriend. Maybe her coming to LA was a bad idea.

I dragged my feet back up to the hotel, my eyes feeling quite heavy. I opened the door and slumped towards the couch, collapsing on it.

"Harry, mate. Calm down, alright? We'll find her. We all know how important she is to us. We'll find her." Louis patted my shoulder. I saw him look towards someone over my head. I followed his trail towards Niall, who was outside on the balcony. "I'll talk to him."

Louis' POV:

I shut the balcony door behind me and felt the cold breeze hitting my face. I leaned my elbow on the railing as I looked at the view with him. "Niall.. What's wrong, mate..?" I asked quietly.

He looked down at the ground. "I can't help but think I drove Carter away."

"What?" I said in disbelief. "Why in the world would you think that? You did nothing wrong-"

He cut me off, "YES. I did, Louis!" He exclaimed, running his hands through his hair. He pushed himself back from the railing and looked at me with guilt in his eyes. "I-I...kissed her."

My eyes widened in pure shock. "Y-You.. kissed her? When? How?"

"Last night and today during the award show when I left the arena to get some air." He told me quietly.

"You have a girlfriend, mate. Why did you do that?" I asked quickly.

"Because! ....I fancy her. And today, Jasmine caught us at the wrong moment. Luckily, she didn't see us kiss." He sat on the chair by the balcony door. I got a chair and sat in front of him. "Then you called me because they were about to announce the winners for our category. That's when I just left with you, leaving Jasmine and Carter alone. If I know Jasmine very well, I know that she gets jealous very easily and she always gets what she wants. I feel like... she threatened her or something..." He paused, then looked at me pleadingly. "Please do not tell anyone about this. Harry might kill me and maybe even Jasmine. Promise me, mate. This stays between you and me."

I stayed silent. The only thing I heard were muffled noises from inside and the cool breeze from out here. I couldn't believe what I just heard. Both of my best mates fancy Carter. Now I know why she left. But she couldn't go back to New York. I knew she wouldn't. Not with her parents.

Then, a question rang into my mind. I looked back to the gang inside and noticed someone missing.

"Where's Zayn?"

Carter's POV:

When we made it to our stop, I quickly unlocked my seat belt and bolted outside for some fresh air. I inhaled the scent and smiled. "Mmmm... Fresh air.."

We were a few hours away from the hotel the gang was at. I didn't exactly know where we were, but we were still someplace in LA.

Zayn got out of the car and chuckled, walking to the trunk of the car. "Carter, it was only a 2 hour ride. I bet it wasn't that bad."

"Yeah, but I hate being stuffed in a car for that long. Even if the window was opened." I blinked at the view I was looking at. "Whoa. Did you really buy it?" I was actually looking at this huge building right in front of me. It was like a giant mansion I thought only exist in movies. I sure wish this was my house. I would never leave.

"All mine. Y'know, if anything goes wrong here, this is like my emergency home." He shrugged and walked over to me. "Okay, since you didn't bring your luggage, we're going to have to go shop."

I scoffed, "Aw, do we have to? I just got my fresh air."

He grabbed my wrist, dragging me back into the car. "If you want to walk around in those killer heels and this short dress for who knows how many days, then yes, we have to go shopping."

"But I feel bad. I only have like 40 bucks. Don't spoil me." I complained, looking into my matching pink bag for any more signs of money.

He shook his head as he turned on the ignition. "Carter, it's okay. Just pick whatever you want for at least a week's worth of clothes and... stuff." He gulped on the word 'stuff', making me roll my eyes. "...and you don't owe me anything."

"But you're doing so much for me." I said as he pulled out of the driveway and went to the nearest shopping mall. He ignored me and turned on the radio, making me forget what I was going to say next.

Louis' POV:

"Call Zayn! Call him, now!" I ordered Liam quickly when I came out of the balcony with Niall.

"What? Why?" Liam asked confusingly. Then, being the smart self he is, he snatched his phone out of his pockets and dialed Zayn's number quickly. Putting the phone on speaker, we waited till he answered. But, he didn't. It went straight to voice mail.

I groaned, putting my hands to my hips as I started thinking. "What about Perrie? Where did she say she was going?"

Eleanor shrugged, "She left without saying anything. The last I saw of her was when she went into a limo alone."

"Call Carter again." I told Liam. He quickly dialed her number and waited for the rings. It went straight to voice mail.

"Alright, there's no point in calling right now. Why don't we continue this in the morning when we all have the strength to, because it's getting really late." Liam told us sternly.

Hey! So I guess you've been waiting for the climax of the story. I think this is it. Sorry it took so long to. I suck, don't I? :/ So, I hope you're enjoying it so far. :D

Here is the visual of Zayn's house, if you're all wondering:
