Four Years Later... (Sequel to 'Behind the Truth')

*Sequel to 'Behind the Truth'*

It's been 4 years. 4 years since I moved to New York. 4 years since I left my friends. It was difficult, but I planned to cope without them.

Ever wondered you could turn back the time and wished you were young again?

Carter Hanson hasn't seen her old friends in four years. She changed, they changed, everything changed.

Sometimes, Carter can't seem to take a break. Not even when she reunites with her old friends. And yes, her old friends are the world-famous boyband, One Direction.

Follow her journey to see how complicated her life is even when her friends are on her side. Secrets are meant to be hidden, but eventually will be revealed.

"Sometimes I have the luck that every girl wants, but not the life..."

43. Final Feelings.

Niall's POV:

"Oh my gosh!" Carter suddenly squealed as I felt the water splash onto us. I laughed as I saw Carter's face looking all surprised and scared. I held onto her as I felt her get pushed towards me, suddenly feeling our lips touch. Just as planned.

After a few seconds, we pulled away and saw that everyone was watching us. Carter didn't turn around, instead she just looked at me with pure shock. After that, she just swam away to the girls without saying anything to me. I watched her as she started to smile at the girls as if nothing happened and continued to splash each other.

Zayn swam towards me and looked at me with curiosity. "Well...?" He threw his hands up in the air while he said it.

I took a deep breath. "I-I... It was amazing."

Carter's POV:

"What happened back there, Carter?" Perrie asked. We were finally done with the night after we swam for a few more hours. I wrapped a robe around my wet swim suit and sat on the bed. Perrie dried her hair with a towel as she walked out of the bathroom and joined me.

I shrugged, "Zayn accidentally pushed me and I found myself kissing Niall." I was extremely confused. Not even confused, clueless as to what just happened. I came here for some peace without them and I can't leave again knowing that they might find me again. Then again, I can't always run away from my problems.

"D-Did you like it?" Perrie suddenly asked, making me glanced at her surprisingly. "The kiss. Did you?"

I looked back down, "I-I... don't.. know." I sulked.

"Whatever happens, just remember. Your heart will lead you where you need to go. I'll see you in the morning, alright?" She patted my knee and smiled.

I smiled back as she walked towards the door and said good night to me, closing the door on her way out. Maybe I did need some rest.

Carter's POV:

After a long night of tossing and turning, I finally decided to wake up around 7 in the morning. It was bit early for me, but I just couldn't sleep the entire night. I couldn't stop thinking about last night and that was the last thing I ever wanted to think about. I showered, brushed, and got dressed for the long day I'm probably going to have.

I trudged downstairs to pour a glass of orange juice for myself when I saw a figure already inside the kitchen. "Niall?"

He turned to me from the refrigerator. "Oh, hey Carter. Good morning."

"Morning.." I slowly dragged my word questionably. "Why are you up so early?" I ask. Better yet, why is he even here? I thought he left after last night.

"I couldn't really sleep. Besides, Zayn and I have to go somewhere with the lads. It's management stuff." He shrugged, filling a plate with breakfast. He passed it to me politely and smiled. "I made breakfast."

"Well that's politely random." I said, loosening up to him. I pursed my lips as I breathed the scent of bacon, pancakes, and scrambled eggs.

"What? A guy can't make breakfast for his best friend?" He smirked, turning off the stove and filling plate for himself. He sat across from me and started to eat. "Are you scared I poisoned it?"

I gasped, "That thought never even crossed my mind, Horan. How dare you accuse me of that!"

He chuckled, cutting his pancake into fourths. He stabbed a piece and held it out for me to taste. "Here, taste mine if you don't trust me."

"What makes you think I don't trust you?" I crossed my arms. "You giving false accusations, Nialler." I mumbled. He moved his hand again, signalling me to eat the pancake on his fork. I rolled my eyes and opened my mouth before he chucked it in.

"That's better." He said.

I chewed, "There. I'm eating. Happy?"

He nodded, "Very. Now, finish yours."

I rolled my eyes again and picked up my fork, showing him that I was actually eating his breakfast. I chewed loudly in front of him, making him laugh and do the same thing to me. "Niall! GROSS." I squealed.

"You did it first!" He chuckled, stopping when I did.

We continued to eat together for a few minutes after Zayn randomly came in and went into the fridge for orange juice. "Morning."

"Morning Zayn." I greeted happily as I finished my last strip of bacon. Niall collected mine and his plate and dropped it in the sink before he greeted Zayn too.

"Zayn, we have to go." Niall said, swallowing what was left in his mouth. He grabbed his car keys and coat, slipping it on. "Sorry Carter, but we have to go. The boys' are already on their way. I'll see you soon, alright?"

I sulked and followed Zayn and Niall to the front door. Zayn kissed me on the cheek, "I'll see you later, alright? Tell the girls I'll bring back lunch."

I nodded, after Zayn went to his car. Niall stood with me as he checked that he had everything. "I'll see you soon, alright Carter?"

I kissed his cheek, catching up off guard. "Yeah."

He blushed before he waved to me and walked towards his car and got into it, starting the engine. He gave me one last wave before his car was completely out of sight, following Zayn's car.

After a few hours, I heard Zayn's voice by the front door yelling, "I'M HOME." I quickly dropped my magazine on my bed and scurried outside with Perrie and the other girls following me. Perrie and Zayn kissed before he gave Jade and the other girls the lunch he promised.

"Zayn?" I interrupted. They both stopped and turned to me. I looked at Perrie and she immediately understood what I was going to tell him. I already told her when he was gone, and I was planning on telling him what was on my mind.

Zayn excused himself before following me to the hallway. "Carter, is anything wrong?"

I played with my fingers before telling him what has been on my mind the entire day.

"I'm ready to go back."

Okay first off, I have to apologize on how late I am with updating. I didn't forget about my story, it's just that I've been really busy lately since it's summer and all. Annnd... I have to admit to having a tiny bit of writer's block. :/ Anyways, now that I know that I won't really be busy this week (and won't really have too much writer's block), I'll update more often for you guys. Thanks for the patience, I really do appreciate it. So, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Sorry it's short.

OH! I almost forgot, I'll be editing this movella since I realized that I spotted a few mistakes... I know, I'm so lazy. But yeah, not anymore. I'll also be adding in a few scenes in some previous chapters, if you don't mind. Don't worry, it won't change the plot or anything. Don't worry if you don't see it, it's not really that important... (I guess.) Okay, I'll stop talking now... xx
