31. Dinner with Niall.

Louis' POV:

Everyone and I ran back to our spot, huffing and puffing from our fun from the ocean. I held my knees, trying to catch my breath from all the laughing and games we played in the water. "WOW. That was so fun!" I exclaimed, standing up straight as Eleanor handed me my towel.

Everyone started to dry themselves off, talking about how much fun they had back at the ocean. Especially me. I absolutely loved this day. "Hey, remember when Harry almost fell off of Liam from his back because Liam sneezed and lost control of Harry?" I laughed, making everyone else laugh as well.

Harry denied it as he pouted. "That is so not true."

"Ah, mate. We all saw it." I died down my laughter when I noticed something or someone was missing. "Hey.." I said, making everyone turn and look at me. "W-Where's Carter?"

They all looked around the beach. "And Niall..?" Jasmine mentioned.

Carter and Niall?

Carter's POV:

When Niall led me back to our suite to change, I decided not to dress so formally. I dressed up in a tight white tank top under a laced top with dark blue skinny jeans and white heels as I fixed my hair up half-up, half-down.

When I finished, I saw Niall waiting in the living room, using his phone. He was dressed casually with a white v-neck and leather black jacket with black jeans. He looked up at me when he noticed my presence and smiled. "Hey." He greeted, standing up from the couch.

I grabbed my bag, "Hey. So you ready?"

He nodded, lending me his arm. "Yep. Shall we?"

I linked my arm to his and grinned, "We shall." He led me out the door as we went down the elevator. He took me to the back where I saw a black Range Rover parked in the hotel garage. "Whoa." I said breathlessly. "Where did you get that?"

"I may have told Paul to arrange a car for me." He shrugged. Jasmine is one lucky girl.

I just scoffed, looking all surprised as he dragged me to the passenger's seat. I buckled my seat belt as Niall started the engine towards the exit. "So, where are we eating?" Before he answered, I butted in. "..Don't dare tell me it's a surprise. I think I've had enough surprises in this vacation."

I heard him sigh, "Fine. We're going to a restaurant."

I gasped sarcastically, "NO... Really?" I shook my head.

He chuckled back, not taking his eyes off the road. "Okay, okay. I don't need your sarcasm, Carter. Just wait till we get there. Can you?"

I groaned, "Fine." I turned on the radio, the first song I heard was One Direction. Niall glanced at me, smirking. I just rolled my eyes and turned to another radio station, leaving Niall bewildered.

"You ain’t gotta worry it’s an open invitation
I’ll be sittin’ right here real patient
All day all night I’ll be waitin’ standby
Can’t stop because I love it, hate the way I love you
All day all night maybe I’m addicted for life, no lie.
I’m not too shy to show I love you, I got no regrets.
I love you much to, much to hide you, this love ain’t finished yet. This love ain’t finished yet…
So baby whenever you’re ready…"

I started to sing along to the lyrics since I was getting bored in the car after 10 minutes of driving. Niall didn't seem to mind how long it took since he joined me on our small karaoke fest.

After 3 more minutes, Niall turned towards a parking lot and stopped the car. I looked around, seeing a giant building.

"Um, Niall...?" I said uneasily.

He took off his seat belt. "Yes, Carter?"

"This is a fancy restaurant. I'm not dressed for that."

"You look fine, Carter. Don't worry about dressing fancy." Niall said, opening the car door for me. I stepped out and followed him to the entrance. "Niall Horan." He said to the lady by the podium.

The lady glanced at the list and smiled when she found his name. She led us to a table by the corner of the restaurant, handing us the menus. I smiled back at her when she left to grab our waitress.

Suddenly, my phone started to vibrate. "Sorry Ni. Let me take this.." I excused myself, walking towards a huge plant by the bathroom. "Hello?"

"Carter? Where the heck are you? I thought you got kidnapped or something!" Eleanor said, being her usual worried-self.

"Relax, El. I'm with Niall." I told her carefully.

"Niall? What are you guys doing?"

"Well Niall got hungry when I got tired of playing at the beach. So, he asked me to dinner. He didn't want to bother you guys because you guys looked like you still wanted more time to have fun. So we left without you." I explained thoroughly.

"Oh." She said. "So, nothing's going on, right?" She asked.

I scrunched my face. What did she mean by that? "What?"

"Nothing's going on.. right?" She repeated.

"Yeah.." I said slowly as if she was acting crazy for even asking me that question. "Nothing's going on, El. Just eat dinner without us, we'll be home soon."

"Alright." She responded. "Have fun."

"Okay. Bye." I said, soon hanging up. I walked back to my table where Niall was already ordering for himself. He looked up at me and smiled, "What would you like, Carter?"

I looked at the menu, trying to order something as fast as I can. "I'll take the medium-rare steak, please."

The waitress scribbled our orders in before leaving me and Niall alone again. He looked at me worriedly. "Something wrong?"

"Huh? No, of course not. Why would it be?"

"You're shaking like a dog." He admitted.

I stopped my body, avoiding any more comments about him. "Oh, don't worry about it. Just a little..-"

"...nervous?" He implied.

"Uh, no. Niall, I've practically known you my whole life..why would I be nervous?"

He ignored my question when the waitress came back with our orders. I exchanged glances at Niall when the waitress took our menus away and left us. I grabbed my knife and fork and started to dig in. Niall did the same, except that he ate more quietly and politely. Something he usually doesn't do in public.

"So, how do you like it here in LA so far?" Niall asked, making conversation.

I chewed on my steak before answering. "Oh gosh. I love it here so far. You guys are so lucky to be touring everywhere around the world."

"Yeah, but it can be a handful sometimes." He shrugged, chucking a piece of meat into his mouth.

"I get it. Sold out concerts, millions of fans screaming, paparazzi's everywhere; it can be quite the hassle." I sipped on my drink.

"Yeah, but it was our choice to become famous. It was my biggest dream to be known everywhere. Now that I finally have it, I know what it's like to be living the dream."

I blinked as I chewed on the piece of meat. "Do you wish you can live normally again?" I asked randomly.

He looked at me as he sipped his drink. "Ah.." He paused, then shrugged. "Sometimes. I mean, don't get me wrong; I love my fans and my career, but sometimes I wish I could just get back to being a regular guy. Not Niall Horan from the famous boyband, One Direction."

I just nodded as we continued with our dinner. Soon after about a good 15 minutes, we ordered our desserts to go and left the restaurant. Niall and I started to talk about random things, but the one thing on my mind was what he said back at the restaurant.

'...I wish I could just get back to being a regular guy...'

As Niall parked in the hotel garage, he stopped the ignition and leaned back on his seat, letting out a breathy sigh. "I had fun tonight, Carter. Thanks."

I looked straight, not making eye contact. "Yeah, me too."

"I guess we should probably get back to the lads.." He said, stepping out of the car to go over to my side. He opened the door for me, lending me his hand. We exchanged cheeky smiles before we headed towards the elevator.

"Listen, whatever happened tonight that made you get all quiet, I'm sorry. Whatever I said to make you feel-"

I cut him off, "Niall, there's nothing wrong." I chuckled, "I'm just thinking."

"About..." He leaned his head, smirking cheekily.

"...about.. stuff." I teased. The elevator door opened and we both walked into our suite where we saw everyone sitting on the couch either reading a magazine, using their laptops, or phones.

"Hey lads. We brought back some desserts." Niall announced. Jasmine was the first to get off her seat to tackle him with a hug. "Hey Princess."

"Babe, where were you? We were worried sick." Jasmine asked.

"Eleanor didn't tell you?" I butted in, glancing at Eleanor by the kitchen. She nonchalantly sipped the drink in her mug and looked away.

"No.." Jasmine said slowly.

"Oh, well in that case.. we went to dinner." Niall replied.

"Oh." Jasmine said, looking a little offended. "Why didn't you invite us?"

"Because you guys were still having fun that we didn't want to ruin it by saying Niall was hungry." I said.

"Well we're all used to Niall being hungry anyways. So it would be fine." Jasmine said, fixing Niall's jacket collar. Touchy.

It was about 7 o' clock when Harry came back into our room. I was sitting on my bed, listening to my iPod as I watched him take off his shirt, revealing his muscular body. Look away, Carter.

I looked down at my iPod, shuffling through a bunch of old songs I forgot to delete. But I listening to them anyway. I heard a mumble through my headphones, thinking that Harry was talking to me. So, I took them off and hung it around my neck. "I'm sorry, what?" I said.

He scoffed, smiling. "I said how was your date with Niall?"

I shook my head, "It wasn't a date. We just had dinner together, that's all."

"That sure sounds like a date to me." He implied, taking out a clean shirt.

I grasped onto my iPod, "Well it wasn't."

"Whatever." He scoffed, slipping on a black T-Shirt. Before I could protest, a female voice came knocking on our door.

"Knock, knock, knock." The door creaked open, revealing Taylor. She welcomed us with a warm smile when she saw us. Harry smiled back as he reached out to hug and kiss her. I just sat there awkwardly, watching them being all couple-y. "Hey Carter!" She greeted, sitting by my feet. "How have you been?"

I nodded, "I've been good. How's your tour going?"

"Great. Still fun, as always." She said. It become silent when I finally got the idea that they wanted to be alone without telling me.

"Oh. Sorry. I'm guessing you guys want to be alone.." I said, grabbing the things I needed. I leaped out of bed and walked outside, closing the door behind me.

I saw Louis and Eleanor watching TV together, so I decided to join them. "Hey lovebirds."

"Shh... We're watching a movie." Louis hushed, feeding popcorn to Eleanor.

I just rolled my eyes and let my eyes circle around the suite, but all I saw were couples everywhere. So it was just me and Zayn. I walked out of the suite and onto the balcony when I saw him watching the night view of LA. The wind blew my face as I stood behind him, leaning on the silver railing.

"Hey Zayn. Bored?" I asked, making conversation.

He simply shrugged as he turned to me. "Well I'd rather stay here then to go back inside watching everyone being all couple-y."

"That's exactly what I was thinking." I brightened up. "We are definitely twin thinkers."

He chuckled, looking down. "Just seeing them makes me miss Perrie even more." I felt bad. "But she's touring in Florida right now and won't be in LA until we leave."

"I'm sure she'll find a way during her free time.." I patted his shoulder. "I know it. Plus, you shouldn't be worried. At least you have someone who actually loves you." I implied.

He turned to look at me with sympathetic eyes, "I'm really sorry."

I just shrugged as I felt the wind blow on my face. "Eh, I'm okay."

"Well, we should get back inside. It's getting kind of chilly here." Zayn spoke. I simply nodded, following him back inside with the gang, ready to go to bed.
