41. Days Without Them.

Carter's POV:

A few days have passed in the Malik LA Mansion, and I had to admit that Zayn and the girls really brought me into their home like family. I made really good friends with the Little Mix girls, especially Jade. Jade has been by my side the past few days, and I couldn't be thankful enough. Jesy and Leigh-Anne were also really supportive too. They helped me whenever I needed the fun and they made really good food.

Today was just a regular day for us. Zayn and Perrie went to the supermarket to buy some groceries while Jesy, Jade, Leigh-Anne, and I were hanging by the pool with out feet splashing the water. After a few minutes, I decided to sit on the water tube and float around the pool. Although I wasn't in the correct swimwear, I thought it would be fun to snap a few pictures for the boys back at the hotel.

Jade grabbed my phone and snapped a few photos of me on the pool. Before I tried floating back to the edge, I didn't notice Leigh-Anne and Jesy out of sight. By the time I finally noticed, Jade laughed at me when they flipped my water tube over, making me drown in the water. I floated back up the water and wiped my eyes in shock.

"Jesy! Leigh-Anne!" I exclaimed, seeing that my entire outfit and hair was completely wet.

They got out of the pool and dried themselves off with their towels and shrugged at me, "Sorry Carter. We thought it would be funny."

I swam back to the edge of the pool and hopped off soaking wet. "Well thanks a lot." I giggled. "I'm so going to get you back."

I crossed my arms and walked back inside with my dress dripping on every step. "Carter, better dry yourself off before going back inside." Zayn stopped me as he set the groceries down on the nearest table. Perrie started laughing when she saw me. I didn't blame her; my makeup was all smeared, my dress was dripping water everywhere, and my hair was all flat and wet.

"I see that, Zayn." I tutted before walking past him towards my room.

"Hi Mom." I greeted through the phone. I sat down on my bed as my feet swung around back and forth.

"Hey Sweetheart, how's the program going?" Mom asked happily.

"It's fine, Mom. I hope you and Dad are having a good time without me." I said, trying to make conversation.

"Why would we think that? We're so lonely without you." She told me. "Hopefully, you'll be back soon, right?"

I played with the loose thread on my bed sheet. "Um, yeah. I guess."

"Have you made any friends yet?" She asked.

I yanked one of the threads out, "A few."

"That's great. But don't get too close to them. You'll be leaving them soon anyways." She told me. "By the way, did you hear that 'One Direction' is in LA for their tour?"

I gasped oh-so suddenly. "Mom!"

"What? I just wanted to tell you since you haven't seen them in a while. You better be careful. I mean, who knows? You might bump into them. I don't want that happening again." She said sternly.

"Mom, don't worry about it. I'll be fine. Plus, I doubt they would recognize me." I scoffed, shaking my head nonchalantly.

"Good then. Just be careful and focus on your work." She ordered. "Anyways, your father and I have to go. We have to go to dinner with the Daniels."

I raised my eyebrows, "Why?"

"It's a work thing." She sighed. "So, I'll talk to you later, sweetie. Alright? Love you."

"Oh, okay. Love you too. Bye." I hung up the phone and sighed. I wandered my eyes around my huge master bedroom, looking at everything I thought I'd never be living in. The cute chandelier, the giant walk-in closet, and so many vintage items decorated around the room.

I leaped out of my bed and walked towards the living room, where I saw a note placed on the table. Out of curiosity, I picked it up and read it.

If you're reading this, then you should know the girls and I went to go to our rehearsals. I know that you don't really want to come since you're not ready yet. I didn't want to bother you anyways. I promise we'll be back sooner then you know it. Don't worry, when I see the boys I won't tell them where you are. ;D I keep my promises. I'll bring you back some food when I'm done. For now, stay safe and don't wander around.

Great. Now what was I suppose to do?

Zayn's POV:

I walked into the concert arena backstage with my hands shoved in my pockets. I opened mine and the boys' dressing room, their eyes went all on me.

"Zayn, I thought you wouldn't make it." Louis cleared his throat awkwardly.

I shrugged, "Why wouldn't I? We're still a band, right?"

"I-I know. I just thought with Carter...-"

I cut him off, "So what? Even if I am with Carter doesn't mean that I'm out. I'm just there to support her."

"H-How is she?" Niall chimed in nervously.

"Fine. She misses all of you." I told them. They all nodded in response without saying anything else. So, I continued, "I know you're a little upset about how she left without saying anything, but.." I glanced at Harry and Niall. "She's going through a lot right now. With her parents calling her every day, lying to them, telling them that she's doing fine... She doesn't need any more troubles in her mind."

"Look, we're not upset. We're just confused as to why she left." Liam spoke up. "When will we get to see her?"

"Soon," was all I said.

An hour after rehearsals, I walked back to my dressing room to change into my normal outfit. It was already 7 PM and I had to pick up Perrie and the girls from their rehearsals at 7:30. I quickly got dressed and bolted out of the arena without saying anything to the lads.

Carter's POV:

"WE'RE HOME." I heard Zayn's voice yell, along with the sound of the door closing. I bolted downstairs and tackled Zayn with a hug. "Whoa, Carter. I was only gone for a few hours."

I pulled away, "I know, but I was so lonely!"

"Hah, well I bought dinner for all of us. Why don't we get the table set so we could all eat?" He suggested, holding out a bag out take-outs.

An hour after dinner, we all decided to watch a movie outside the backyard while we took a night swim in the pool. It was fun with a guy around. Zayn made everything less awkward for all of us. I swam around with Jade as Perrie and Zayn stole a few kisses from each other on the edge of the pool. Jade and I glanced at each other like we knew what to do. I smirked at her and she smirked back. We went under the water as I grabbed to Zayn's ankles and Jade held onto Perrie's, pulling them down together.

I splashed back up to the surface, seeing Perrie and Zayn just coming out of the water with mad faces. Jade and I shrugged and laughed it off as they tried to chase us around the pool.

I really had to admit, days without the rest of the guys were less drama-free for me. Which was something I really needed.
