37. Award Show.

"Wow, Carter. You look... amazing." Louis said breathlessly when I came out of the bathroom.

I rolled the material over my fingers, "You think?"

Louis nodded, scoffing. "Oh, I know." He walked into my room, waiting for Harry to come out of the bathroom. "Haz, are you done yet?"

"Almost." He called out.

"Why don't we wait outside for him?" Louis suggested. He took his arm out, letting my link my arm around his as he escorted me to the living room. I saw everyone getting all neat and tidy with their outfits. Niall and Liam were too busy fixing each other's ties to see my presence, but when they did, Niall looked pretty speechless.

"Whoa.. Carter." Niall breathe. "You look..." He glanced at Jasmine, who was looking at us suspiciously. "...nice." Jasmine went over to Niall, kissing him on the cheek as she snaked her arms around his waist. "You, Princess... look adorable."

She blushed, "Thank you."

I mentally rolled my eyes as I walked over to Eleanor, Perrie, and Louise. "Hey girls, don't you look stunning?" Eleanor was in a tight black dress just inches above her knees, making it fit her body size perfectly. Louise was wearing a bright yellow dress with a nice white belt wrapped around her waist. The dress on Perrie was absolutely beautiful. It matched her skin tone perfectly with the loose purple dress on her.

Harry came out of his/my room a second later after everyone started to wrap things up quickly. "Hey Carter, can you help me with my tie, please?" He asked.

I chuckled, "Sure." I reached over to his neck, fixing the black bow tie he had on. His suit was just like the rest of the guy's. Black and white, except her had a bow tie and the rest had on an actually neck tie. I saw him carefully staring at me as I straightened out his collar. I quietly cleared my throat and let my hands fall to my sides. "There."

"Thanks." He smiled.

"Is Taylor coming?" I asked.

He shook his head, "Too busy with her concert. She said she may or may not make it." He shrugged, "Who knows?"

I just nodded understandingly. "By the way, you look beautiful." He complimented. I couldn't help but blush before I was pulled away by Zayn.

"Are you sure you want to walk the red carpet with us?" He asked.

I stammered, "I don't even know. Should I?"

"I mean, it's up to you. I just want to know what you'll be doing. Eleanor isn't going on the red carpet with us. So if you change your mind, she'll be going the back way."

"Thanks for the tip." I responded, clicking my tongue.

"Limo's here!" Liam shouted when he hung up his phone.

Moments later after the short trip to the red carpet, I decided it would be best if I went with Eleanor to the back way. I knew this was like a one time chance, but I couldn't risk anything if my parents saw me on the news. Zayn told me to follow Eleanor towards the back of the carpet where she arranged to meet Louis there. I simply agreed, letting Eleanor take the way as we got out of the car.

I saw tons of stars walking the carpet, which made me go insane when I saw Johnny Depp walking with his kids. He's never too old to walk the carpet with his kids.

I felt a hand on my wrist, "Carter, focus. You don't want to be caught, do you?" I stayed quiet as Eleanor dragged me behind the giant poster that said 'Teen Choice Awards'. We were literally behind many stars that doesn't even know we exist. We waited by the end until we saw Louis finished with his photo ops on the red carpet.

He kissed Eleanor on the cheek, "Alright, are we okay?"

I nodded, "Yeah."

Louis took Eleanor and I towards the main door where we saw many people already getting ready for the show to start. Eleanor and I took our seats right behind the boys' reserved seats which was really close to the stage. I loved how the stage looked; it was huge, colorful, and very structured. I couldn't wait.

An hour later, I was still seated on my seat as I looked at my phone for the time. The crowd was just getting pumped up and I already saw a few of the stars seated on their seats. The boys hasn't come yet, so Eleanor, Louise, Jasmine, and I were stuck until the show actually started.

When it finally did, loud music blared across the entire arena, making me gasp in shock. "Relax, Carter. There's nothing to be worried about." Eleanor whispered in my ear as she clapped when the host came onstage.

Several awards later, I got kind of tired of watching because none of the awards they handed out were amusing to me. So I excused myself and went to the bathroom. I knew that the awards the boys were nominated on was going to be announced towards the end, so I made a quick stop to the bathroom and maybe even a little snack by the counter.

When I got out of the bathroom, I was almost bumped into Harry. "Oh, gosh. You scared me!" I shrieked.

"Sorry. Just making a quick stop to the loo. I didn't know you left." He commented.

"Oh, I was going to the 'loo' too." I quoted, chuckling. I moved out of his way. "You can go now."

He smiled, "Okay." He walked towards the men's room when I walked towards the snack counter. I asked for some Swedish Fish and Sour Patches in which she simply nodded to. Giving her my money, she exchanged it back and gave me a smile. I didn't really want to go back to the arena yet, because all I heard was performing from someone whom I didn't really know about.

A few minutes later, I was sat down on one of the tables next to the counter. I was the only one there, considering the counter lady went back into the arena to watch what was going on. I silently ate my candy alone as I heard the music blaring loudly from where I was sitting.

Harry's POV:

When I exited out the bathroom, I saw Carter sitting on a table alone, eating her candy. I decided to join her since it wasn't even the first half of the show yet and our award nominations wouldn't be announced till the end.

"Hey." I said. "Why aren't you in there?" I sat on the chair across from her, stealing her Swedish Fish.

She shrugged, "Well I wanted to see you guys, but your awards nominations aren't going to be announced till the end. So, why not stay here all alone?"

"Yeah, that's true." I muttered, stealing her candy out of her hands. She scoffed and laughed at me as she took the bag back, sticking out her tongue. Gosh, she was cute.

"So what about you? Why are you joining me when you should be joining your friends out there?" She pointed with her head towards the arena door.

"Same reason as you. Plus, you could use the company."

"Well, thank you, but I don't really need the company." She said.

I smirked, "I think you do. You seemed pretty lonely. What kind of a friend would I be if I let my other best friend sit all alone in an empty room by herself?"

"You just implied that I was a loner twice." She corrected.

I was confused, "What?"

"Well you said 'my other best friend sit all alone' and 'in an empty room all by herself,' which is technically implied as a loner. Which you said...twice." She pointed her two fingers up at me.

"Aren't you Miss. Correct." I winked.

She giggled, "But seriously, you don't have to stay with me. I'll be back soon." She waved her hand dismissively.

I dropped my head down low and looked back up, grinning. "Fine. I'll go." I gave in and stood up, walking back to the door. I looked back at her and she waved her hand again to tell me to go. I chuckled and walked back in where I saw the crowd cheer for the next presenter.

Carter's POV:

Minutes later after I was done with my snacks, I grabbed my purse and made my way towards the door when I saw Niall coming in. "Hey Carter. What'cha doing out here?"

"Oh, I was just getting a snack. I was about to come in. What are you doing here?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.

"I thought I could use some fresh air. The crowd is really crazy in there." He told me, sighing. He walked towards me and smiled, taking my hand in his. "I'm glad I ran into you."

"Don't do this. Jasmine is right in there.." I said quietly.

He shook his head, waving our hands from side to side as he held it tightly. "She won't come in. She's too busy fangirling over Zac Efron."

I couldn't help but chuckle. "Well, she might come in. You'll never know." I tried letting go, but her held it back. "Go, Niall."

"Fine, but one kiss." He grinned. "Just one."

"No, Niall." I rejected quietly.

He pulled me by the waist. "Just one." He repeated slowly. I sighed and leaned in, feeling our lips touch. His hand was behind my head, so I couldn't pull away that fast. Our lips moved in sync for a few more seconds before I pulled away. He blushed and I looked away as his hands moved back to my wrists, "I'm going now."

"Good." I whispered. He was just about to let go of my wrists when Jasmine came in, looking shocked and startled.

"What is going on?"

Oh no.
