Four Years Later... (Sequel to 'Behind the Truth')

*Sequel to 'Behind the Truth'*

It's been 4 years. 4 years since I moved to New York. 4 years since I left my friends. It was difficult, but I planned to cope without them.

Ever wondered you could turn back the time and wished you were young again?

Carter Hanson hasn't seen her old friends in four years. She changed, they changed, everything changed.

Sometimes, Carter can't seem to take a break. Not even when she reunites with her old friends. And yes, her old friends are the world-famous boyband, One Direction.

Follow her journey to see how complicated her life is even when her friends are on her side. Secrets are meant to be hidden, but eventually will be revealed.

"Sometimes I have the luck that every girl wants, but not the life..."

24. Airplane Rides.

Carter's POV:

"Okay, I think that's the last of the suitcases." Dad strained, taking my last suitcase into the van. "We don't want to be late for your flight now, would we?"

I nodded, stepping into the van with my parents. Like their usual protective self, they didn't want me getting hurt on the way, so they decided it would be best to take me to the airport safe and sound. I didn't really mind as much as I usually do. It was my last hour with them, so why not?

Once we arrived, the workers in the airport had already made their way towards our car to take all my suitcases onto the cart. My phone started to vibrate once I jumped out of the car, signalling a text message.

From Eleanor:

The girls and I will meet you by the gate in 15 minutes. Make sure your parents aren't there. x :)

I looked back up to see the man already walking into the airport, followed by my parents. I caught up with them as I walked beside my dad, thinking of a way to stall them away. "Uh, dad? I think I got the rest here. The gate's closing in 5 minutes."

"Don't be silly, darling. We want to see you go through the gate before we leave." He said, wrapping his arm around my shoulder. "Don't forget to call us, alright?"

I let out a smile, "Yeeahh..."

It wasn't easy, but luckily, my parents didn't see the girls once I got through the gate. I waved goodbye to them one last time to see my mother almost bursting into tears. As for I, I felt free again. No parents for two months while I get to spend the entire summer with my old friends.

"Come on, Carter. The boys are waiting for us." Eleanor gestured me to catch up when I saw the boys' private plane. I gasped, overlooking the giant plane that was right in front of me. One of the flight attendant led me in as I continued to be all surprised and shocked.

I walked in, hurriedly greeted by all the boys. Of course, Niall first. He ran up to me and hugged my tightly, lifting me off the ground. I groaned from his tight hug, and he let me down. "Sorry Carter. Just so happy that you're actually coming!"

I took a breath, "I know right? I'm so excited, myself."

"CARTER!" Louis exclaimed, tightening me again with one of those suffocating hugs. I hugged back lightly and giggled.

"LOUIS." I mocked, pulling away.

Soon after all the greets, I was assigned a seat since the pilot was also very protective with us. Apparently, I was assigned next to Harry. I sat by the window seat and looked at the view of the airport. Wow. I thought. I'm actually leaving without my parents.

I felt a nudge. "Come on, Carter. It's only for two months. Meaning no chores, no overprotective-ness, no parents, and most of all, no Derek." Harry smiled, listing everything with his fingers.

I grinned, "Puh-lease. I'm really not going to miss anything here. I'm really glad I'm leaving with you guys." I looked at him. "All thanks to you."

"Aw, come on, Carter. We all pitched in."

"But really! Louis said it was your idea. How can I repay you?"

"I'll think of something." He winked. I chuckled, leaning back on my seat as the pilot announced that we were leaving in 3 minutes. I couldn't bear to think what bad thing might happen during this vacation. I know; NOTHING.

A few hours during our flight, the flight attendance told us it was safe to roam around since we were stable on air. I stood up, finally having the urge to go to the bathroom. I excused myself from the gang and made my way to the restroom. I knocked on the door, hoping someone wasn't there. I drank too much water, and I really needed to go.

The door opened, "Hey Carter."

"Hey Niall. Having a good time on the plane so far?" I tried to make the conversation short.

"So far, so good." He chuckled, finally realizing I was needing to go to the bathroom. "OH. Sorry." He said, moving out of the way.

"Thank you." I strained, shutting the door.

"Attention passengers, we will be landing in about 3 more hours, I repeat, we'll be landing in LA in about 3 more hours."

Harry's POV:

I sat beside Carter as she looked out the window, listening to music into her headphones. When she turned to face me, I looked away quickly, trying to avoid her gaze. She looked back, continuing to move her head to the music when Louis came to our spot.

"Hey Haz, Carter." He waved. "Having fun yet?"

Carter took off her earphones, "Hey Lou. It's alright, I guess."

"That's great. Just want to let you know that the plane is landing in about 1 more hour. So, stay alive." He joked, eying the both of us. He walked away, once again leaving me and Carter alone in our seats. I tried to think of a good topic to talk about, but nothing came up. Why was I so lousy?

"So, what are we doing when we land?" Carter asked, breaking an awkward silence.

"Louis said that we should settle down and unpack at our hotel, just so we break in the place. Then maybe grab some lunch." I told her, earning a nod.

"Have you talked to Taylor lately?"

"Oh yeah. She's fine. Speaking of her, she stops at LA too for her next concert. Maybe you can officially meet her and hang out." I suggested.

"Sounds good. I would love to." She smiled, putting on her earphones again, completely blocking me back out to her own little world.

"We have arrived to your destination. Thank you for riding Private American Jets."

The entire gang cheered when the plane came to a stop. Louis and Niall started to hop up and down in excitement once they took off their seat belts. The only reason Niall was happy was because he hated airplane food and he was glad to be leaving that for 2 months. Louis was happy, because he love LA. It was his favorite city to hang out in. He told me it was the perfect area for dates, which Eleanor also loved.

I helped Carter grab her stuff on the top shelf of our seats, while Niall went to grab her other items in the back of the plane. Boy, she had a lot of suitcases.

I groaned, "Carter. We're only staying here for 2 months, not 2 years." I carried her last suitcase out of the plane, placing it on the luggage cart.

"Well who knows what we'll do. I packed everything so I wouldn't miss out on all the fun if I didn't have the right clothing." She said, counting out all her suitcases.

"If you did miss out on an outfit, you can always buy one or borrow from the girls." I suggested helpfully.

She scoffed, "With what money? Plus, I can't just keep borrowing clothes from the girls all the time. That would be rude." Ah, same old Carter.

"Enough about clothing, lads. We're here." Niall announced.
