She tries to figure out what to do, but soon, one member of a well-known boy band catches her eye... Then, when Justin makes a surprising announcement, what will happen? 15. Chapter 15

"Welcome to Lee's!" two teen guys cheer from behind the ice-cream counter as we enter.

I nod my head at them, instantly going to see what ice-cream they have.

"What do you want?" Louis asks, coming over to stand behind me.

"I don't know," I reply, analyzing the different flavors. I've always loved basically every ice-cream flavor that exists, so choosing at least two flavors is a serious problem.

"I'm going to get . . ." he trails off.

"Not sure either?" I laugh.

After almost five minutes of thinking we both decide what we want; my order is vanilla and strawberry cheesecake and Louis's is cookies 'n' cream and chocolate. Once we order and get them scooped, we go outside to sit at a table with a multi-colored umbrella.

"Can I have a lick?" he asks.

"No!" I shriek, pulling it away from his tongue.

"Why not?" His brow furrows, and I can tell he's feigning sadness. "Are you afraid of germs?"

"Of course not," I scoff. "I just don't really like eating after other people."

"I think someone's afraid of germs," he says, wiggling his eyebrows.

"I'm not!" I argue, crossing my arms in defiance.

"Defense is the first sign that someone's lying," he counters. "Also the way they shift their eyes." He moves closer to me, staring into my eyes and sucking in a quick breath. "You have really pretty eyes, Natalie."

"Thank you," I say shyly. The last time Justin told me I had pretty eyes was . . . a few months ago?

"I really like them," he continues.

Unconsciously, we both lean forward, but it's as if we're moving in slow motion. Before my brain can catch up, his face is nearly inches from mine.

I feel the breath from his slightly parted lips fanning over my face. Still, we move forward until eventually our lips meet.

I'm sure it sounds way too cliché, but it's true: I feel something close to fireworks when we kiss. I melt into his embrace, forgetting everything and anything except for this boy right here.

I sigh as his lips move against mine, and I can tell that he's smiling. Well, that makes two of us. Chocolate ice-cream fills my senses, making me feel as if I'm literally in heaven.

When we eventually pull back (which we both do very reluctantly), his eyes are bright, and I'm sure mine look the same as his, maybe even brighter.

"I-" we both say at the same time, causing us to laugh.

"You go ahead," he tells me.

"I just . . . I don't know. I'm speechless."

"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" His humor never fails to surprise me.

"I'm pretty sure it's a good thing," I giggle. My cheeks are tinged pink at the fact that I'm acting like a middle-school girl.

"So you're saying I'm a good kisser?" he questions, wiggling his eyebrows.

"Shut up," I squeal, slapping his arm. Again, I blush for acting so immature.

"I'll take that as a yes," he clarifies. "But just to let you know, you're not too bad of a kisser yourself." He winks at me.

"Thanks. I'll use that piece of information against Justin when he. . ." I trail off, wincing at what I did and was about to say. "Oh, I didn't mean--" Why am I such an idiot? How could I even think about Justin when I'm with Louis? My brain didn't process what I was saying; it just came out of my mouth.

"I'm sure you will," he mutters, getting up and throwing his trash into a trash can. He stands there awkwardly, waiting for me to finish, hands stuck deep inside his pockets.

He takes my trash from me once I'm done, throwing it out and making sure I get to the car safely.

The drive back to my house is silent. I can tell that Louis is upset, but I don't know how upset. Multiple times I almost say something, but the coward inside of me makes sure that I don't.

He pulls up to the house, and I notice the lights are on. Justin's home.

"Thanks for taking me, Louis. I had a great time," I say; it's the only thing I can say.

"Natalie," he whispers, grabbing my arm as I'm getting out of the car.

"I'm sorry for ignoring you. I was just thinking." He keeps his eyes on the window, not looking over at me once.

"About what?" I dare to ask.

"About how much I'm going to miss you."

"What do you mean?"

He finally looks over at me, and I see something in his eyes that I can't quite put my finger on. "The boys and I are going back to England tomorrow. I forgot to tell you."

My heart sinks at the thought.

"Goodbye," he breathes. "I hope you and Justin," he grimaces when he says that, "have a good time together."

"Bye, Louis," I answer back. I close the car door, walking up to my door, unlocking it and waving goodbye, but he's already gone.

I slide down the door, putting my head in my hands. Is he really leaving? Or did he just say that to get rid of me?

Ooh, it was all going good until Natalie screwed things up. I'm sorry, I had to do that.

I've decided that I'm going to start putting a playlist at the end of each chapter, containing the songs that I listened to while writing this!
