21. The Explanation

Lizzy’s POV

I looked at Sophie and her eyes were piercing right through mine. Looking at her was like looking at myself in the mirror. We were identical twins. I took in a deep breath and decided to tell her everything.

“Elizabeth,” the head of the spy company called my name. I looked at him and nodded my head.

“Yes sir,” I replied.

“We need you to ‘die' in order to be able to fulfil your mission right,” he said.

“What exactly is my mission sir?” I choked. I was too young to die. I was twelve for god’s sake! I couldn’t just die!

“One of the wealthiest man in the world will be needing a bodyguard, but his enemies will just end up killing his bodyguards. So you, will act as his daughter but in reality you are his bodyguard."

“Daughter?” I shouted. “I have my own parents for your information!"

“Yes, we know that,” he stopped. “But you have to."

I knew there was no backing down, it must be done. I bit my lip thinking of something to say as a protest but I realised there was nothing to say. I simply nodded my head in agreement.

“Great, you die tonight,” he said and then shooed me away. I walked out of the office with something aching in my heart. I reckon I will never see my family again.

“You never quitted that spy organisation?” Sophie shouted at my face.

“Sophie, there was no way out,” I reasoned out.

“No way out!” she echoed and then laughed. “If you don’t remember, I joined the same organisation as you!"

“Lizzy, how could you?” she said with tears forming in her eyes. “You could have just said no! That ‘spy organisation’ would never force you to do something you didn’t want to do."

“How would you know?” I replied. I mean seriously, how would she know? She quitted the spy life after she refused a certain assignment in Dubai.

“Because Lizzy,” she sighed. “They gave me that assignment before they gave it to you."

My mouth dropped. I cannot believe she was actually given that assignment. “What?” was the only word I managed to say that moment. She nodded her head and then spoke.

“Lizzy,” she spoke in a low voice this time. She sat beside me and then hugged me. I was taken aback by her action. When she pulled away I quickly asked her the question I wanted to ask her since the start.

“You’re not mad at me?” I asked her.

“No you silly,” she laughed. But then she quickly turned serious again. “So what made you show up here again?"

“Well I quitted,” I simply said.

“You quitted?” she repeated.

“Oh my- why?” she asked, her voice was full of excitement and I wondered why.

“Yeah, cause I decided to start my own spy company, and besides the organisation was starting to get on my nerves.” I gave out a fake chill and she laughed.

“I miss you so much, sis,” she gave me a quick hug and then laughed.

“What’s so funny?” I asked her. I was so confused. Why was she laughing?

“I just could not believe that you are starting your own organisation,” she said. “I’m happy for you."

“Yeah, well enough about me,” I said. “How about you? What’a going on in your life?"

“Well my life is the same old high school student life,” she replied while fixing herself in the couch.

“Really?” I said cheekily. She nodded her head and I decided now was the time to shoot the question. “So who’s that Styles guy?"

She looked at me and then looked at the floor. “He’s my tutee, nothing more nothing less."

“So why did you have dinner in his house last night?” I was really eager to know about this guy. He wasn’t my type, don’t get me wrong he is cute but he seems so arrogant.

“His mum wanted to meet me,” she got up from the couch and then walked to the kitchen. I followed her there and then rested my elbows on the counter top with my head leaning on my hands.

“Okay,” I replied casually.

“I mean it, Lizzy!” she said while pouring juice into her glass. “Don’t go on pretending to be me, and flirt with him."

“I’m not that mean!” I chuckled. “And besides why not?"

“Cause he and I don’t actually go on well,” she replied while looking down to her glass that was half filled with juice. “He bullies me in school."

“Oh, I see,” I said.

I was sad that he bullies Sophie. He seemed quite a nice but arrogant guy. Sophie looked at me and then gave e  that ‘how-did’you’know’ look.

“I check on you from time to time,” I casually replied. She understood me and then continued pouring juice on her drink. I might just have a plan that might make everything turn different for Sophie. I want her to be happy, and I know she hasn’t been very happy deep inside ever since I ‘died’. I guess, I have to make it up to her. And I guess I know just what to do.
