9. Chapter 9

Chapter 9

I drove to school the next day in my red Camaro. My parents decided to give it back due to the fact that I’ve never done anything bad so far. I was so excited to have my car back, I missed it so much. My red Camaro is my baby and I love it so much.

I sped down the 50 mile zone road reaching 90 to school. It’s how i always drive and never once have I ever gotten caught. I love to speed and that’s why I always have cars with speed. When I took the turn into school all heads snapped to my car which sort of freaked me out. What they’ve never seen a Camaro before? I grabbed my bag and got out of my car, taking my sweet time. Once I was out, I was instantly bombarded by Cindy.

“I want a Camaro!” She whined.

“You can have mine?” I joked.

She stared at me with wide eyes. “Seriously?”

“Dude, no.” I scoffed before adding, “This is my baby.”

She pouted slightly before walking over and stroking the exterior. She walked around observing every inch of my baby all the while looking at me every few seconds mouthing, ‘wow’. I grinned at her as she opened up the car and looked inside the black leather inside.

“You done ogling at my car?” I laughed. She chuckled before closing the door and i locked the car.

“So, why did you skip school yesterday?” She asked.

I shrugged. “I had to take care of something.”

“Wow, that’s pretty vague.” She chuckled. “Did Niall catch up to you?”

I froze on the steps to the front doors of the school and turned to her. “How did you know Niall came to me?”

“He came up to me asking for you.” She answered.

“Oh,” I paused, thinking about what happened yesterday, “Yeah, he did.”

“What was with that look?” She asked suspiciously.

“What do you mean?” I gave her an innocent look before continuing my walk to my locker.

“I mean that ‘something happened yesterday and there’s no way I’m ever going to forget it’ look.” She waited a moment as she fell into step with me and then said, “Spill.”

“There’s nothing to spill.” I insisted. I feel like I shouldn’t tell anyone about yesterday. For some reason I feel like it’s supposed to be a secret, apart from the obvious part of the both of us being in a gang but it’s the kiss. The kiss was so special, to me at least, and I don’t want to ruin the memory by telling someone about it.

“Oh come on, Georgia. What did you two do? Fight? Make out? Have hot heavy sex?” She winked and I shook my head at her antics.

“Sure, Cindy.” I laughed as I opened up my locker. I took out all the appropriate books before turning to her. “None of that happened.” I said. It was partially true. We didn’t fight, not a lot at least. We didn’t make out, it was just a kiss that lasted longer than two seconds. And we definitely did not have hot heavy sex.

“Damn. You know, you and Niall would make one hot couple.” She opinionated. “Violet, Beth and Mike agree. Jared, however... I don’t even know what’s wrong with the guy anymore. He’s so much more-” She flung her hands around and her face was contorted into a frustrated expression. “- ugh.” She finished.

I chuckled lightly. “Calm down, Cindy. Jared’s only human.”

“Okay, whatever. You go talk to the guy, he’s the only one that seems to actually talk to you.” She rolled her eyes before waving goodbye.

I continued walking down the hallway, confusion overcoming me. What did she mean by Jared only talking to me? Jared talks to everybody. At least that’s what I think he does. Anyway, it doesn’t matter to me. Right?

“Hey, Georgia.” A voice broke me out of my thoughts. I turned to face Jared. His grin spreading from ear to ear and reaching his amazing green eyes.

I returned his smile. “Hey, Jared.”

“Why’d you skip school yesterday?” He asked. My eyes widened in surprise. He wasn’t in my homeroom nor any of my classes. He doesn’t even sit with me at lunch, I’m always outside and he’s always in the cafeteria so it was quite surprising to know that he knew I wasn’t at school. I’m also very sure that Cindy would never tell anyone that I skipped school.

“Uh, how’d you know?” I continued walking down the hallway to my homeroom.

“Just didn’t see you.” I watched him shrug his shoulders as his face was void of emotion. Then he dropped his mask and gave me a broad smile. “So, what did you do yesterday?”

“Nothing much. I just had to take care of something.” I answered him.

“Is there anything going on with you and Niall?” He asked suddenly. I turned to face him with wide eyes. He looked at me with a blank face but his green eyes bored into mine with concern and something else I don’t quite recognise.

“W-what?” I stuttered then continued walking.

His large hand wrapped around my upper arm to stop me from walking. “Is there?”

“Why do you ask?” I stalled, yanking my arm out of his grip.

“N-nothing.” He stuttered. “It’s just that Niall always comes up to ask for you. And you’re always around him. And I’m just really curious.”

“Oh. No, there’s nothing going on between me and Niall. He’s nothing special to me.” I lied. His lips stretched into a wide grin before nodding then saying goodbye.

I stood for another second, dazed at his behaviour, before continuing my walk to homeroom. I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn’t hear or sense the person walking beside me, matching my footsteps.

“Nothing special to you, huh?” Niall said. I jumped, startled by his presence.

“You heard that?” I stalled.

“Of course.” He looked at me with an impassive face but his eyes looked like it was forcing itself to behind a mask but it was failing miserably. His eyes looked hurt.

“Niall...” I started but then the bell rung.

“Let’s talk about it at lunch.” He said then walked away from me, not waiting for an answer.
