Chapter 6

Niall didn’t show up for school the next day. Or the day after that. Or the day after that. I didn’t know what I was expecting but I felt disappointed. Maybe i expected an explanation or something but somewhere inside me, I expected something from him.

I tried with all my might to not think about him for those three days. I tried. But I couldn’t help but worry that he might be hurt or something really bad is happening. No matter how I felt after he left me on that day, I worried about him.

So, I walked into school on Friday with my hopes down low convincing myself that he won’t be there. So i won’t be disappointed. And I was right. He wasn’t there that morning, his fixed Ferrari wasn’t parked in his usual spot. I brushed it off, trying not to care.

When I walked through the front doors my phone beeped. I pulled it out and read the text message.

Honey, I’m home. -J

And attached to the message was a photo of my living room, exactly how i left it this morning. my heart raced. I know who that is, without a doubt.

“Hey, Georgia!” I heard Cindy call out my name.

No, no, no, I thought. Not now. I turned to face her nonetheless, trying to hide he alarm on my face.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” She asked me once she reached where I was.

“N-nothing.” I stammered. “What’s up?”

“Oh, I was just going to say that I have a party tonight at my house and you have to come.” She grabbed my shoulders and shook it in emphasis.

“Okay, I’ll try.” I said, my voice sounding distant even to me.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” Cindy asked, looking at me in the eye.

“I’m fine, i promise.” i told her, grabbing her hands and dropping it by her sides. “I need to go back home.”

“Okay.” She said curiously. I walked away from her and walked quickly out of the school property.

I walked hastily to my house, trying to look discreet yet get there as fast as I could. How is he here? Why is he here? I left because of him. I don’t want to be part of any of it anymore. He should know that.

I unlocked the front door and walked into my house. My heart beat even faster as I walked into the living room. On the grey couch, with his legs propped up on the coffee table, a glass of coke in his hands and the tv on but on mute, sat the one person I thought I never would see again.

“That took longer than I thought.” He mused with a smirk on his face.

“What are you doing here.” I asked, ignoring his comment.

“Aw, honey, don’t act like you didn’t miss me.” His smirk grew as he stood up and walked his way to me. His shoulders swinging, his brown hair standing up on his head and his blue eyes twinkling with amusement. With every step he took with his black boots I took a step back with my black heeled boots. I kept walking until my back hit the wall, blocking my escape.

“What are you doing here, James.” i demanded.

“You missed a lot when you left. I became the leader, you know. And all i thought was ‘man, I wish Georgia was here’” He said while moving his hands up on both sides of my head.

“I don’t care, James. You cheated on me, you used me. I left because of you.” I said.

“Honey, you know that’s not true. i love you.” He stroked my cheek. I slapped his hand away.

“Go away, James. I’ve left you and the gang. I did what I had to do to leave. I don’t want anything to do with you and the Valley Kings anymore.” I pushed his chest away from me.

“Georgia, we need you. The Death Disciples are out to get us. We’re losing people to them. Everyone in the gang wants you back, everyone listens to you. You also have a sick ass aim. We really need you, Georgia.” His tone leaked with desperation. But I know his tricks. I’ve known him for almost two years, I know when he’s acting, I know when he’s manipulating. I know all of it.

“No, James. I don’t want to come back.” I said and pushed him away.

“Yes, you do, Georgia.” He gripped my shoulders and squeezed. His blue eyes flared with anger and his face was distorted in rage. This was what I fell in love with. A manipulative, short-tempered boy who wanted everything and threatened to acquire it.

“Georgia!” My name did not leave the lips of the person in front of me but instead came from someone completely different who stood in the doorway. James turned his head in the direction of the voice without letting go of me.

“I’m in here!” i yelled. James scowled at me before letting go of my arms.

Niall walked through the hall. His face turned from excited to furious. His angry eyes weren’t directed at me but to James instead. He stood paralysed in the walkway, nostrils flaring and eyes raging.

“What is he doing here.” He snarled.

“You know him?” I asked Niall, surprised.

“Yes, we go way back. Don’t we, Niall?” James smirked.

“Get him out, Georgia.” Niall growled dangerously low. I didn’t know how to react to him but I agreed with his words.

“James, leave!” I yelled at the brown haired boy.

“Wait, I’d like to do introductions first!” James said, his eyes twinkling with amusement and dark humour.

“I already know him.” I said. Niall made a sound from the back of his throat. His eyes narrowed and his lips pressed into a thin line.

“Ah, but do you really know him?” James asked. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

“What do you mean?” I said finally.

“Niall, meet Georgia. Former member of Valley Kings.” James said whilst grabbing me and pulling the hair away from my neck on the right hand side. I growled and Niall’s eyes widened in chock then hardened in fury and betrayal as he looked at the crest. “Georgia, meet Niall. Future leader of Death Disciples.” He pointed down to Niall’s wrist. My eyes widened in shock and Niall growled.

“Now, my job here is done. Adios!” James smirked and left the room.

“Future leader!? Death Disciples!?” I yelled.

“Valley Kings!?” He yelled back.

“I left last year. You can’t accuse me for anything.” I reasoned.

“It still doesn’t change the fact that you were once part of them. I know how that gang works. To leave, you need to kill someone.” Niall said. I breathe heavily.

“Yes, that is true.” I answered. He gave an accusatory glance. “But what about you? Future leader? I bet you’ve killed a lot more people than I have.” He shut his mouth.

“I know how that gang works too. Kill the most important to you to be leader?” I accused.

“Exactly why I’m not leader yet. I don’t have anyone that’s important to me.” He answered. My eyes widened in surprise. Not one person?

“Show me yours.” I said quietly yet menacingly.

He huffed out but walked towards me. He held out his left wrist towards me and i grabbed it. I analysed the emblem on his wrist. It had an upside down cross within a circle with two guns on either side behind it. My eyes widened as I recognised the sign.

“Are you the one putting those little notes in my locker?” I asked. He shook his head.

“I’ve been trying to find out who it is.” He sighed.

“What does it mean by ‘be careful’?” I asked.

“I don’t know that either. It’s from someone in my gang, i know it.” He told me. i sighed.

“Show me yours.” He demanded.

I pulled my golden hair away from the right side of my neck. I twisted my head around so he could look at my tattoo. It was a crown waved with thorns with drops of blood on the tips of the spikes. I could feel his breath on my neck, making the hairs on the back of my neck stand. I pulled away as my heart started to beat faster.

“Why did you leave?” He asked me.

“Because of many things.” I said vaguely.

He took a step forward so he was nose to nose with me, his lips a hair away from mine. His minty breath mingling with mine. His blue eyes staring deep into mine. I was frozen. His eyes started to close as his lips moved even closer to my lips.
