Chapter 18

The final bell of school rang and I quickly packed up my books as my teacher yelled out instructions. I rolled my eyes, no one was obviously listening. I walked out of the classroom and headed to my locker, searching for Niall on the way. He was my ride home.

I pulled open my locker as a note fluttered into my hands. My eyebrows knitted together as I looked confusedly at the piece of paper. I haven’t gotten one in weeks. I saw the emblem of Niall’s gang on the corner of the piece of paper. It frightened me.

Wrong person.

I was confused and frightened to say the most. This Niall’s gang for christ sake! Why would his gang be sending messages to me? Especially if Niall was the leader’s son. What did they want from me? I sure as hell am not going to tell Niall about this. He almost flipped his shit when he saw the last note a few weeks ago.

But “wrong person”? What did that mean? I chose the wrong person? My heart started to race as I looked up and down the hallway, searching for Niall’s head. I pulled out my phone and called him.

“Georgia?” He asked.

“Niall? Where are you?” I realised that my voice was laced with light panic. I quickly changed my tone. “You’re my ride home, remember?” I joked.

“Yeah... about that...” He said guiltily and I knew he didn’t think twice about what my tone looked like since he had something else going on.

“What did you do?” I asked accusingly.

“Well... Blake and I were messing around in class, you know. The usual. But the teacher was being a total bitch and well...” He rambled on.

“And you’re in detention.” I finished for him.

“Yeah, sorry babe.” He said nervously.

“Ugh, whatever. I’ll just walk home, it’s not that far.” I said as I closed my locker.

“Okay. Be careful. I’ll see you in two hours.” He said.

“Okay, bye. Have fun in detention.” I teased as I started down the hall to the front doors.

I heard his laugh before he hung up the phone. I walked through the opened doors and past the front gates. I trudged down the pathway, following the road back to my house. I thought back to the note that was in my locker. I pulled it out of my pocket and studied it.

It wasn’t any handwriting I was familiar of. But I wasn’t sure what the link was. Niall’s part of the Death Disciples, the very gang with the same emblem on their left wrist. Why would they be sending notes to me? And what the hell did they mean by “wrong person”? Are they threatening me or Niall? I’m just really confused.

I turned the corner onto an isolated street just as a car came speeding down the road. A wave of déja vu overcame me as I remembered the time Niall sped down the road and wrapped his car around a pole. But this time was different. It didn’t crash next to me. And it wasn’t some high speed sports car. It was a black van that purposely stopped right in front of me.

That was when my instinct kicked in. Just as the back doors open, I spun on my heel and ran the way I came. I didn’t get far as two pairs of hands wrapped around my petite arms. I yelled as they yanked my backwards. I tried to rip my arms out of their hands but they had a strong grip.

I called into my desperate instincts and stepped on one of the guys’ foot. His grip loosened and I yanked my arm away and elbowed his nose. He fell back. I them smashed my fist into the other guys face and roundhouse kicked his chest away. The first guy game back and aimed a punch which I skillfully dodged and kicked his stomach. He bent over to get his breathing over. The second guy wrapped his arm around my shoulders and I flipped him over my head. He crashed into the ground and I kicked his sides. He grabbed my foot, stopping me from injuring him further.

That was when a hand came over my mouth with a cloth. I knew it was laced with chloroform and I could already feel myself starting to lose consciousness.

When I woke up from the heavy sedation, I noticed the dimly lit empty room that I was in. There was only a bed in the room and the door was directly in front of me. There was one window that was shut by blinds. I felt groggy and therefore couldn’t fully register what was going on exactly.

When I finally regained full consciousness, I looked around the room once more. The light was on this time and I saw the muggy brown that coated the walls and wooden floorboards of the floor. The bed was rough almost like a cot and there was only a thin blanket. One of my hands was cuffed to the bedposts on either side of the headboard. I pulled on the handcuff in a hope that it was loose but it wasn’t and I could feel it digging into my skin.

That was when I really started to panic. The feeling flowed all through my body and I started to shake nervously. I sat up onto my knees, desperately trying to figure a way out of all this. I was pulling on the handcuffs in another desperate attempt to be free when the door burst open. My head snapped up to see who was at the door.

“Well, well, well.” He smirked tauntingly.

“What do you want.” I said through gritted teeth.

“I did tell you you chose the wrong person.” James said casually. My eyes widened as I thought over his words.

“But it had a Death Disciples logo on it?” I asked him, the confusion clear on my face.

He laughed at me. “Oh the big twist. Too bad I can’t tell you what it is though.”

“What do you want from me? Why am I here?” I asked him, sitting back down on the bed.

“Well, two reasons. One, I want you back. Back in Ventor, with me and Valley Kings like I’ve always said.” He leaned against the door frame with his arms crossed over his chest.

“I already said no.” I snarled. “What’s the other reason?”

“Ah, that I can’t tell you yet.” He grinned.

I growled at him and tried yanking my hand out of the cuff again. The metal started digging into my wrist, cutting through the skin. I screamed in pain but I kept pulling nonetheless. James came up to me and placed his hand on mine, stopping me from pulling.

“You’ll cut off your hand my doing that.” He mused. “I need you.”

“You won’t have me. Let me go.” I barked.

His eyes just twinkled with humour and amusement. “Guess I won’t be letting you go any time soon.”

He watched me for a few more minutes. I just continued to glare at him, not doing anything. I just wanted him to drop dead so badly at that moment. He winked at me with a smirk on his lips as he walked out of the room.

I yelled in frustration and yanked on my restraint again. It was no use. I’d just end up cutting my hand off, just like he said. I yelled and screamed until my throat ran dry and stung. I just wanted to get out of this room but I knew he wouldn’t be letting me out anytime soon.

Tears started to fill my eyes and I tried as hard as I could to stop them from spilling. I breathed heavily in and out to calm down but the breaths ended up coming out ragged. I tried to blink the tears away but it was no use. The tears started to leak out as my hands started to shake again.

I just wanted Niall at that moment.

Uh oh, shit’s going dooooown.
