Chapter 16

Niall’s POV

We drove for a while. Georgia stayed silent and I focused on the road. It wasn't awkward or anything, we just basked in each other's presence. I wanted to surprise her. I wanted to show her that there’s more to me than my gang side. That my life does not revolve around being in a gang.

I’m honestly scared about this whole thing. Georgia is my first serious girlfriend, the first one I’ve ever wanted to protect and keep safe. But the gang is important to me as well. No matter how much I hated it, it’s been my life since I was twelve. I’ve been looking forward to becoming leader since I was fifteen, when my dad started out as leader.

But now that Georgia’s here, all I can think of is how am I going to save her? Am I willing to give up the gang, the only thing I know of, for her? Will I? Should I? I’d like to think I could. But there’s part of me that knows that I can’t. I can’t give up the only thing I know of.

But can I give her up? This beautiful blonde-haired girl that caught my attention the minute she walked through that classroom door. The strong willed girl that pushed Jamie against a tree and almost broke his arm. The kind hearted girl that treated my wounds with my car crashed. The sweet girl that listened to me while I wept for my mother. The amazing girl I know I’m half in love with.

I pulled up at the end of a hiking trail on the outskirts of town. I parked beside a line of four cars that I knew all too well. I turned to face Georgia who was looking out the windshield curiously with pursed lips.

“I swear to god, Niall...” She started as she turned to me. I merely raised my eyebrows at her. “If you took me here to rape me or kill me, I will skin you alive.”

I winced mockingly. “Woah, graphic.”

“Just letting you know.” She smiled at me and got out of the car. I followed her suit and took her hand, towing her down the trail.

“Oh, and if I get these boots dirty I will skin you alive and burn your organs.” She said to me just as we stepped on to the dirty track. I just laughed at her comment.

“You think I’m joking.” She mused quietly.

“Oh, I know you’re serious. The laughter is just to ease my fear.” I turned to her and winked. We walked a couple metres then turned right into an opening of trees.

“Okay, Niall... You’re freaking me out.” Georgia said as she lagged behind me, eyeing the tops of the trees where there wasn’t much light streaming through.

“Relax, Georgia. Have a little faith.” I chuckled.

“That’s easy for you to say. I mean, has your boyfriend ever taken you to a jungle and walked off the trail into the middle of nowhere?” She said as she looked around the area.

It wasn’t that bad a place. There was enough light to see where you’re going and the trees are spread out so you don’t have to worry about avoiding them that much. Besides, it wasn’t that far.

“Will you stop overreacting?” I teased.

“If you were me, i bet you’d be doing the same thing.” She said stubbornly, crossing her arms.

“No, I wouldn’t.” I said, “I’m not a pussy like you.”

Her jaw dropped as she scoffed. “You’re such a jerk.” She punched my arm.

“Oh man, that hurt so much, I feel like you just broke my arm.” I said monotonously.

“Oh shut up, not all of us can be filled with testosterone like you.” She rolled her eyes.

“Really? Hey, Georgia.. is that facial hair I see?” I joked, pointing to her face.

“You better start running, Horan.” She said in a dangerously low voice that scared the crap out of me. I audibly gulped as she took a step.

I put my hands in front of my because frankly I was scared. “Look, I didn’t mean it. Georgia, babe, I was joking. You know, ha ha ha.” My tone faltered as she glared.

I quickly turned on my heel and ran to the cabin that was now in my line of sight. I saw the guys sitting out on the veranda. I didn’t realise that slowed me down until I felt a crashing weight on my back, making me fall face first.

“You’re an idiot.” She whispered in my ear then nibbled on my ear lobe. I turned over, making her roll off me.

“You wish.” I poked her belly and she giggled. I stood up and held my hands out to her and helped her up. I bent down and pecked her lips. She gave me a soft smile as she brushed back her hair behind her right ear.

An audible gasp made me turn around. “Niall! Are you stupid!? You’re screwing a chick from Valley Kings? How could you not have noticed her tattoo! Oh my god, you’re going to get us all killed!” He yelled at me and then he turned to her. “What do you want, you snitch? Are you here to try and get close to the gang? Huh? We don’t need another conniving little bitch like you.” He spat in her shocked, and slightly scared, face.

I pushed his shoulder away from her and glared at him, my hands clenching into fists. “Back off, Zayn.” I said through gritted teeth.

“Seriously? You’re going to defend her? Dude, she’s from Valley Kings. You know that gang that killed your mother.” He shouted, his brown eyes blazing with fury. The other three guys stood behind him with confusion and shock on their faces.

“Yes, I’m going to defend her because she isn’t in Valley Kings anymore.” I replied.

His face went from infuriated to shock to confused to regret to calm in less than ten seconds. He stayed silent for a few moments then pursed his lips. “Oh.”

“Yeah, oh.” I said, glaring at him accusingly.

“Sorry about that.” He said to Georgia. She nodded her head in understanding. “Anyway, I’m Zayn.” He said, giving her his award-winning smile that he used to charm people.

“That’s alright.” She smiled softly. “I’m Georgia.”

This is Georgia?” Zayn asked. “Dude, you did not do her justice.”

“Shut up, Zayn.” I rolled my eyes.

“Yeah, shut up Zayn.” Louis mocked. His blue eyes shone with amusement as his eyes darted from me to Georgia to our entwined hands. “I’m Louis.” He grinned.

“I’m-” She started but Louis cut her off.

“Georgia, yes, I know.” Louis winked then turned to scold Zayn.

“I’m Liam.” Liam said, his brown eyes twinkling with happiness like it always does.

“Hey, there. Why don’t you ditch this dufus and get with the Hazzatron?” Harry winked at Georgia and I rolled my eyes.

“Hazzatron? Really? How old are you?” I teased, pushing his shoulder.

“It’s better than yours, ‘Nialler’” He said, using air quotes. I just looked at him blankly. “Okay, whatever. You’re right.”

Georgia laughed lightly at the exchange. I turned to her as Harry walked back inside the cabin, following the other four.

“Is this why you took me here?” She asked me, with her head cocked slightly.

“Yeah. i just wanted to show you what i’m like without the burden of the gang.” I shrugged. “And sorry about Zayn. He’s all about loyalty and trust and all that.”

“No, that’s alright. He had a right to do that.” She answered.

“Let’s go inside.” I said, taking her into the cabin.

We spent hours at the cabin. It’s not that big of a place. it has a kitchen, a living room, two bathrooms and five rooms . Okay, yeah it’s pretty big. It was Zayn’s grandfather’s who built it in the 50’s as a hideout.

I showed Georgia how we’re like without the gang. All four boys are in the gang with me. They’re my best friends. But they’re my secret best friends. Whenever we’re outside the cabin we act like we don’t know each other at all. Which is easy since Louis’ already graduated, Harry lives on the other side of town, Zayn lives just a few miles away from here and Liam goes to a private school.

When we explained it to Georgia, she kept an amused expression on her face. When I asked her about it she told us that it was really dorky of us and we all laughed. It was a good day for all of us and when it was time to go home, Georgia was very reluctant. But we had to leave since her parents were coming home soon.

“Bye, Boobear.” Georgia teased Louis as she gave him a hug.

“Can you not call me that, please? It was when I was like five!” He groaned and Georgia just laughed.

“Later, Liam.” She gave him a hug and did the same thing to Zayn.

“Well, babe call me when you’re done with Mr. Cocky.” Harry said, jerking his thumb to me. Georgia laughed.

“That’s sooner than you think.” She said in a teasing tone and winked at Harry. She gave him a hug and one last goodbye to them all and we left.

“I like them all.” Georgia mused as we walked off the trail, the sunset sky hitting our faces.

“Really?” I asked.

“Yeah, They’re really cool.” She said truthfully and I breathed a sigh of relief that I didn’t know I had in me.

“That’s good.” I nodded. I turned to her and my breath caught at how beautiful she looked with the orange tinted sky on her face. Her face was at complete bliss and her hair blew behind her. I turned her to me and titled her chin up and gave her a kiss. It was a long passionate kiss that she returned so eagerly.

We pulled away breathlessly and her green eyes stared so intensely in mine. “What was that for?”

“To let you know that I’m seriously falling for you.” I said as casually as I could but I knew that it came out shaky.

“Oh well, then I’m seriously falling for you too.” She replied and gave me another long kiss.

Ah, the long awaited chapter. :)
