A Monument To Our Sins; Claythorne Chronicles Part 1

So, Child of Madness and I (Caleb from Gentleman Killers) are writing a story that takes place with my favourite guy to write about (Burton) and a particular patient he has in Claythorne, a mental Asylum in Leeds England during the late seventies to late eighties. It is and will be rather violent and graphic, profanity will and shall be common to see throughout. If you would like to become a co-writer please send a request with the idea you have. I hope you can sit back, enjoy the painful pleasure and the squealing goodness of evil madness.

Please fan and comment! We need more readers and feedback!!

7. A Cool Mind, A Cold Heart, and The Lost Soul

William heard the little debacle between the two doctors outside his door and began to throw thoughts around in his mind of what he could do about the argument when he heard Winter mention her "favorite Patient." He stopped, dumbfounded for a second only to smile a Cheshire smile and laugh slightly, almost giggle as he connected the dots and arrived at the conclusion; she was the reason he was alive for two years and counting, it was comical to him that the "Ice Queen" could attach herself to someone that otherwise would be destined to die.

"So much for Burton's principles," William chuckled quietly. He knew full well of Burton's principles and his little problem with controlling things, it was why William messed with his books in his study because having lost that little amount of organization would plague Burton with the eventual thought of loosing control. "It's all too easy I'm afraid, when it comes to messing with him." He waited until the chattering had calmed down and the sound of footsteps moving off into opposite directions did he try to open his door.

"Oh Miss Winter," he coed quietly, "You're such as sweetheart." he finished as he heard the contenting sound of the door clicking as it opened, releasing him from his cell of a room. stepping out he quietly closed the door so no one would hear him. Now that he was free to roam he wasn't sure where to go, that's when he heard the familiar hard step of shoes down the hall. He followed the noise out of curiosity and arrived at cell 244 A; Markus' room. He heard cussing, and the sound of breaking objects and finally a noise that grabbed his gut, the sound of tearing flesh and squirting blood.

"What in god's name is that damned man doing?" William thought aloud. That's when he realized the noise inside had stopped. "Shit!" William thought, "The bastard might have heard me." Before he could find out William had turned and was sprinting down the hall in his soulless shoes.

"Miss Winter, is that you?" came the voice of Dr. Burton as William rounded the corner. William detected the sarcasm in the doctor's voice; he knew it wasn't Winter who was spying on him. Though William would never admit it he did have a sense of fear about Burton and the experiments he carried out. William had only one place to call refuge now; Winter. He rounded the corner that lead to the hallway which led to her study. As he walked he calmed down allowing his mind to become cool and collected which in turn would allow his body to become its usual cold self as his heart chilled inside him. He had felt that way ever since he first came here; part of him died that day and ever since William had been cold to every one except of course Winter, but that was only out of necessity that he need show her emotion and respect.

"Hi William," came a voice from behind. William stood rigid for a second and then calmed down when he turned to see it only Daniel behind him. Daniel was this little kid from Coventry with short somewhat straight dirty blond hair. He was of short stature which was to be expected of a ten year old. For god's sake he still had that rounded pudge of a baby face. It never seemed right that such a sweet little kid could be in a place like this, until you heard the rumors of course.

"Oh, hey Dan," William replied. William had always called him Dan and for the most part he went along with it. Daniel was in here for six months now and the rumors were gruesome as to why; Supposedly he had been at a public school when he was being picked on by this bully and one day he must've snapped because at the end of the day the kid was butchered behind the school's supply shed and Dan had blood on his jacket and the police found the cleaver buried in his back yard. And all old Dan had to say about it was, "All I could see was the light in his eyes and the red water flow out of him." Dan claimed he had been possessed but of course no court would buy that so here he ended up under Winter's direct care, or at least that was what the word around the place was.

"Whatcha doing?" he asked in an innocent voice. The way he asked it killed me, he seemed so damn innocent and yet to look into his eyes was to see complete emptiness and soullessness, it was creepy.

"I've been asked to go see Ms. Winter," he lied in an even tone. He could hear Burton's steps getting closer and so he needed to end the conversation quickly. He knew the bell had rang for lunch and so he thought of something quick. "Hey aren't you going to be late for lunch?" he asked.

"Oh yeah, thanks!" Dan asked as he ran off.

"Finally," William sighed as he turned around and began to walk towards Ms. Winter's office. Approaching the door he knocked three quick times hoping she would be there. "Ms. Winter it's William, may I come in?" he asked as he waited for an answer. The sound of Burton's shoes getting dangerously closer as each second passed.
