3. Chapter 3

Ayaan’s POV.

The wind blew through the windows of my car as Layan and I started singing along to “as long as you love me” I was dropping her to the bus station with my BMW my uncle had bought me on my 17th birthday. Yep, I have an uncle. Don’t be shocked. Our whole family didn’t die. Our uncle lives in France, he is the one that pays for our apartment and everything. He even sends us money every month. I haven’t met him since my parents funeral but he’s a very sweet guy.

Layan had insisted to start her tour all around the country by taking a bus, she said it’s more of a crazy adventure, so some cash, and a bus would be definitely something hip to try. She had perfectly stated that if she needed anything she’d call me or Uncle Kevin right away.

We reached the bus station and Layan gave me a hug. It wasn’t much of a ‘dramatic’ good bye because by then I’ve been convinced that she is coming back and that I have nothing else to worry about. I guess.

She rode the bus and waved goodbye and blew me a kiss.

I drove back home, not even knowing where her first stop ‘around the country’ would be. This time singing our band’s song.

***

The house is absolutely empty without Layan. We haven’t been apart since almost forever. As I looked through some pictures of me and Layan when we were younger I felt my butt buzz. I grabbed my phone from my back pocket and found a text from Layan. It was a picture. She sent me a crazy face pic she took of herself with a caption of ‘for laughter purposes only, don’t tweet it ’ I laughed. Probably more than I've laughed in a while. She is the only reason I still exist after –

The door bell rang. I opened. And to my surprise it was Jake.

She is the only reason I still exist after my breakup … with Jake.
