Emerald Isle

When Grace, a country girl in her home village, meets Sean and Liam, her and her best friend Anna's lives get turned upside down. They have some good times, but sometimes the future doesn't look too sunny. With fame, escape and adventure their lives aren't 'normal'

1. My Connemaras - Grace

"Anna?" I hollered down the phone at my best friend.

"Why are you shouting?" She asked calmly. God, sometimes she could be so annoying!

"You weren't listening!" I sighed, holding my favourite Connemara loosely by his halter.

"Sorry, a bit busy here," I could hear a thump followed by something I couldn't make out.

"You ok? What happened?"

"I fell, no biggy."

"Off what?"

"The desk," I could hear her laughing.

"Alright Anna, gotta go now, I need to take Murdo out before it gets dark!"

"Bye Grace, be careful."

I laughed as I hung up.

"Ok Murdo, come on boy," I swung my leg over his back and we sped off across acres of my farmland, left to me by my father. Mum had been against me getting it, but my passion for horses had turned it from keeping sheep to keeping ponies. My long blonde hair was tied back in a ponytail, how ironic, and my hat sat snug on my head.

I arrived back at the yard at around 7 and put Murdo in his stable before feeding all the ponies inside. I had around 30 ponies in total, but only the lucky ones had a stall, some hadn't even been broken in to ride! I had enough money to feed all of them, my family being one of the most wealthy in this area. I wouldn't say I was rich though.

Closing the door and locking it behind me I grabbed a slice of bread and crawled into bed. Ok, I wasn't healthy, but who is? And I have smoothies for breakfast.

I woke up at around 9 and panicked. Ponies to be fed, people to see, places to go. I check my phone and saw two new messages. From Anna. First was asking me if I was ready for my date tonight. Yes, I let her set me up. As I'm 22 I though it was about time I found someone. The second told me not to panic she had fed the horses. God, I love that girl. But why does she never realise they're ponies? Ah well, you can have everything.

I yawned as I walked out onto the yard. I was surprised to find her still there.

"Don't worry about my job, I told them I would be late cos my lazy friend wouldn't get off her fat arse and come outside," She laughed merrily.

"I wonder if they'll ever get bored of that excuse?" I joked, beginning to help her out.

"Remember your hot date tonight!" She winked as she walked away.

"Ah yes, I remember."

"Look sexy!" I heard her call out her car window as she drove off.
