Dancing Away With My Heart

What happens when bad boy, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik, the quiet one, falls for the most innocent girl in school...Bethany? Will she stop running or will she run faster? *Includes alcohol, sex, references/actions of self-harm, and cursing*

Harry had grabbed Bethany while I was talking to Perrie…of course. That’s so typical of Harry. I was getting mad because he kept stealing the girl I wanted. Why did he always do this to people?

“Are you okay?” Perrie asked me.

“Yeah, why?”

“You look pissed that Bethany is with Harry…I thought they looked cute together holding hands and such…”

“I saw her first, okay? Not Harry…he always gets everyone else’s girl. The minute one of us likes someone, Harry goes and steals them just to prove to us he’s so much better.”

It all made sense now. Zayn likes Bethany; Bethany likes him, but is trying to like someone else so she wouldn’t hurt me. I felt tears coming on, but I choked them back.

“I can talk to her if you want…” I whispered, hoping my voice didn’t crack.

“Would you?!” Zayn sounded so hopeful it almost killed me.

“Of course. I’m pretty sure she likes you too.” Zayn smiled at me and gave me a huge hug. I hugged him back, never wanting the hug to end. He was so…inviting. When he pulled away he excused himself to get a drink and Bethany was still nowhere to be seen so I pulled my phone out to text her.

I’m gonna head home. Do you think you could get a ride home? – P

I’ll just come home with you. It’s not a big deal. – B

No…you stay and have fun. At least you have someone to talk to. – P

What happened to Zayn? – B

You should know. – P

I snapped my phone shut, not bothering to see if she answered me or not. I didn’t really want to know anyway. It hurt enough knowing she hid it from me but…what could I do? She tried to like someone else for me so I couldn’t be too angry with her.

“That’s weird…” I said to myself.

“What is?” Harry asked.

“Perrie seems pretty pissed off with me and I don’t know what I did…”

“Is Perrie your friend that likes Zayn?”

“How do you know?”

“It isn’t that hard to tell. She was flirting with him.”

“Well…yeah, but I didn’t think it was a big deal.”

“Zayn likes you Bethany…of course it’s a big deal to Perrie.”

“Wait a minute…Zayn likes me?!”

“Have you never been with a guy before to know the signs? I mean…he asked you out on a date and you went with him, you’re at his party…”

“I didn’t know those were dates or signs to anything. I thought Zayn was just being friendly…”

“So you’ve never been with anybody before?”

“No…I’m never in one place for long enough to have a boyfriend.”

“Maybe you should stay here.”

“Why? I have no reason to stay here. Plus, I need to leave in a couple months anyway. I don’t like being in one place for too long.”

“It’s…a long story and I don’t feel like going into it right now.”

“That’s fine but…I think at some point you need to face whatever you’re running from.”

“Why do you assume I’m running because something is after me?”

“You’re too innocent to just be wandering the world by yourself. You defiantly saw or did something that you weren’t supposed to see or do.” I gulped and went quiet. Harry defiantly was something different…and I liked it; there was no denying that.

That night, Harry drove me home. When I got home, I saw Perrie crying on the living room couch into a bowl of ice cream.

“Perrie…” She jumped about fifty feet and didn’t even look at me.

“How’s Zayn?”

“I didn’t see him during the party…I was with Harry.”

“He likes you, you know. I know you like him too…you don’t need to deny it.”

“I don’t like him, Perrie. I mean he’s a great guy but…I don’t like him. Plus, you like him so I wouldn’t interfere.”

“What if I didn’t like him? Would you date him?”

“Most likely not.”

“So…you really don’t like Zayn?”

“I really don’t Perrie; I think I like Harry.”

“You think?”

“It’s…complicated.” I walked over and sat down by Perrie who was now looking at me intently. “He’s different than most people I’ve met on my trips and I like it, yet hate I at the same time.”

“Are you going to get to know him more?”

“Most likely not.”

“WHY NOT?!” Perrie demanded.

“Because…he’s the type of person that could stop me from running.”

“Isn’t that a good thing?”

“No…I need to keep moving.” Perrie sighed and looked away.

“Whatever you say Bethany…whatever you say.”
