Hiding Behind the Lens

Ally Meyers has loved photography ever since she got her first disposable camera at the age of 6. She loves being able to capture fleeting moments and make them eternal with the push of a button. Yet her constant position behind the camera lens has kept her isolated from relationships. What happens when her passion for photography lands her a job as One Directions personal photographer? Will the luscious lifestyle of the boys take her from the photographer to the photographed? Or will she continue to live vicariously through the filter of her lens?
Well, there’s only one way to find out.
A Harry Styles fanfic.

7. Converse and Chinese

“Glasgow are you ready to party?!!” Liam bellowed into the microphone causing the crowd to go absolutely insane. Girls were screaming and waving ‘will you marry me’ signs. One Direction was every girls dream.

“Then lets get this show started!” he replied flashing the crowd a devilish grin.

Ally was working her away around the stage snapping photos of the fans when the music started up. It was amazing what five boys and a couple bars of music could do.

Ally’s mission for tonight was to take a lot of individual shots, and at least one amazing group shot. The boys group dynamic had definitely improved since yesterday’s final practice. They all interacted together with the crowd and were grinning from ear to ear. They truly loved performing.

In between songs they made sure to interact with the crowd and they were currently talking and getting ready to launch into another one of their hits when a shoe came flying up on stage.

“Now whose shoe is this?” Harry asked holding up the converse.

What happened next no one was prepared for, but they would be laughing about for ages. Harry was still talking about this shoe when another one came flying up on stage and nailed him right in the groin.

Ally’s hands flew to her mouth and everyone gawked as he grabbed his junk and half playfully fell over. Liam and Zayn quickly ran over to check on their mate and Ally took a picture. This was too good to pass up on; Harry was never going to hear the end of this.

Eventually Harry rose to his feet and addressed the crowd, but like a champ he kept performing. He singing was a little high for the first few notes but he got his normal tone back halfway through “Heart Attack”.

The five of them had such good chemistry when they were up on stage, Ally tried to capture every facet of their relationship as she snapped photo after photo and burned through memory card after memory card.

Towards the end of the show Paul came over to talk to her.

“How is it going?” he asked trying to bellow over the music.

“Excellent! I have some good ones!” she returned just as loud. Harry was singing his verse of “Kiss You” and Ally couldn’t help but grin and sing along. Paul smiled to himself; he saw how animated she was about this whole experience. He needed a younger photographer to really relate to what the fans wanted to see.

“Just remember to get the good ones to Amy tomorrow so she can update the fanpage,” he yelled before running off to make sure the tour bus was ready.

Ally wasn’t listening though, it had gotten to the end of the song and it was once again Harry’s turn to sing. She pointed the lens right at him as he sang his final bar

“And let me kiss you!” The crowd erupted into girlish squeals and Ally couldn’t help but laugh along. If Harry Styles was singing let me kiss you, there was no saying no to that.

‘Just like there’s no saying no to dinner with him,’ She thought with a little sigh. She was tired. She hadn’t even performed, but the energy from the crowd, and the fast pace of the concert had worn her out. She had no idea how they were going to perform two times a day later on in the tour.

Luckily she had an hour or so to get ready at her hotel before their little date. He would be signing autographs and meeting the fans for a while. She took a few more photos and headed off to the van, she needed to shower before their little dinner date.

Meanwhile Harry was finishing up signing autographs and taking pictures. He was exhausted, and his groin hurt. Whoever that girl was, she had impeccable aim.

“Mate, that was seriously the highlight of the show,” Zayn laughed patting him on the back.

“I hope Ally got a picture of that,” Niall chipped in, before smiling for a picture with an excited young girl. She had waited in line for hours and was the last one to get her photo with Niall. She was a little Irish Niall girl.

“I would bet money she did,” Louis said.

“She better not have,” Harry mumbled leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees. He hid his face in his hands and yawned. What a night. “Let’s go sleep,” he suggested never looking up.

“Aren’t you coming to dinner with us?” Liam asked.

“Nah, you go ahead. I had something else in mind,” Harry said vaguely rising from his seat.

‘I’m having dinner with our hot photographer whom I just so happened to convince to go out at 2 in the morning with me,” he thought to himself smiling.

“You’re not still mad at us are you mate?” Niall asked sticking his hands in his pockets.

“I’m not mad Niall, I’m probably just going to go to bed,” Harry lied, making his way towards the door. “Eat a burger for me,”

“Oh you know I will!” Niall said smiling. That boy could eat.

Once he was sure the guys had left, Harry snuck out of his hotel room in search of Allyson. He wasn’t sure which room was hers, but he was determined to knock on every door until he found her. He was just about to knock on a fourth door when he heard her talking through the door.

“You wouldn’t believe how incredible they are mum... yes... yes the curly haired one is attractive. Oh did you already see that online? Haha he was such a champ about it...no mum we’re just grabbing a bite... Yes, yes I’ll let you know all about it... Mum it isn’t a date! Oh I think he’s here, love you too.”

Harry smirked to himself, she had just admitted he was attractive, and she didn’t even know it. He was going to have fun using that one against her.

She opened the door wearing those jeans he liked so much, a black t-shirt with the word California written in red and matching red vans. Her hair was lightly waved and she had on those hipster glasses again. She was gorgeous even in simple clothes. He liked that.

“You look good,” he stated obviously checking her out. He enjoyed the blush that crept onto her cheeks. “I hope you’re hungry, because I’m starving,” he said finally looking at her face.

She returned the favor and looked him over. He had changed into a black fitted tee and dark wash jeans with his favorite beanie. “You don’t look too bad yourself Styles, you know for being a sweaty mess,” she said trying not to inflate his ego too much, she didn’t want him to get the wrong idea.

“Come on, I’m taking you to the coolest place in Glasgow,” he smirked grabbing her hand and pulling her out of her room.

They snuck out of the hotel and into a black van in the back. He hopped in the driver seat and beckoned her in. “I hope you like Chinese because I know the best place,” he said grinning.

“I haven’t had good Chinese in ages,” Ally said as they took off.

The car ride was quiet but enjoyable. She kept looking at him, and he kept looking at her. They were both exhausted but neither wanted to go to bed.

“We’re here,” he said pulling off onto a side road with an adorable little restaurant tucked away in the corner.

There was a little red door and hanging paper lanterns hanging at the entrance.

“Harry this place is adorable,” Ally noted hopping out and walking with him inside. He smiled and opened the door for her,

“its even cooler inside,’

He was right, it was a secluded little place with a fountain and coy fish. The place was completely empty except for an elderly lady standing behind a counter.  The pair seated themselves and when the lady came over to ask their orders Harry ordered for the two of them.

He was being so sweet and he kept staring at Allyson. She would blush whenever he caught her looking back.

“Just try and tell me this isn’t the greatest Chinese you’ve ever had,” he dared after she had taken her first bite. He had ordered her some kindof chicken, and it was delicious.

“I have to give it you, this is the best Chinese ever, and the cutest place ever. I can’t believe its open!” Ally smiled grabbing another bite with her chopsticks.

“I might have pulled a few strings,” he smirked.

“Are you kidding?! You got this poor lady to work late so we could eat Chinese?!” Ally gawked. She wasn’t sure whether to be appalled or flattered.

“Tell me you’re not having fun. Trust me, Mrs. Sung has been  compensated nicely for her time,” Harry answer propping his elbows on the table and leaning towards her. “Say the word and I’ll take you back,”

“Styles you are insufferable,” she said mimicking his action. They were leaning towards each other and to anyone else they would have seemed like they were on a date.

He flashed her a boyish grin and said quietly, “Did you like the show?”

She laughed and nodded “I especially enjoyed the part where you had a shoe thrown at you. Don’t worry, I definitely got a picture,” she said laughing at the memory.

“That chick had unbelievable aim. She’s lucky the boys are so strong, no damage done,” he smirked winking at her.

"You're so cocky! No pun intended..." she said laughing at her own joke. He laughed along with her and the two sat there for another hour or so just laughing about the nights events and talking about the upcoming shows.

It was around 4:45am when they decided to call it a night. They exited the restaurant together, Harry’s hand on her lower back, but before they left Harry threw a large sum of money in the tip jar and wished Mrs. Sung a good night.

And what a goodnight it had been.
