32. Chapter 31

Harry’s POV

Love is blind, it fools many suckers and I am one of them. I was in love with the idea of being in love, Lexi was perfect. She made me happy for a time, but it took me a long time to realise it was going nowhere. I’ve lost who I was, and Jay is bringing me back. She makes me happy, am I in love with her? I don’t know, I don’t think I’ve ever truly been in love. But when I’m with her, I go crazy, she makes me weak, she challenges me, and she makes me nervous and sweaty. She makes my heart beat faster than what I thought was possible.

I woke up next to Jay who was sleeping peacefully, she lent on her hands occasionally twitching her arm. My lips formed a tight line as I heard a noise from the kitchen, please god no. The rest of the house was silent, Lexi’s voice echoed. I sighed walking into the kitchen. She was searching through the cupboards.

“Can I help you?” I asked.

“I’m looking for something.”

“My necklace, the one you brought me.”

My eyes wandered around the kitchen, why would it be in here? More importantly why the hell does she want it, she never wore it.

“It’s not here Lex. I’ll bring down your stuff today. I can drop it at your parent’s house or something.”

“Someone’s desperate to get rid of me” she laughed.

Jay came into the room, practically naked. She rubbed her eyes picking at the strap on her bra.

“Good…” she stopped looking at Lex. “Morning” she continued.

Lexi rolled her eyes “you’ve slept together already, you didn’t waste much time. Then again it is Jay we’re talking about.”

Jay ignored her going into the fridge pulling out a carton of orange juice.

“Want some?” she asked me.

I nodded trying to hide the smile appearing on my face. I love how she was unaffected by Lexi’s words, she wasn’t the type of girl I was used to.

“Want some Lex?”

“No thanks” she said coldly.

“Alrighty then,” she poured two glasses and passed one to me.

“Oh Jay how’s Jake doing?” she asked her.

“He’s good, well we sort of argued the last time we had sex” she smiled wickedly.

This took Lexi a while to respond, but instead she changed the subject.

“I’ll see you later for my stuff, it was nice seeing you” she smiled weakly.

I nodded sipping on my orange juice.

“So who’s Jake?” I asked her trying to act casual.

She rolled her eyes “complicated.”

“Complicated how?”

“You really want to know?”

I nodded sitting down next to her.

“I used him as a sex buddy, he wanted more.”

“And you didn’t?”

“You need to realise, after James I haven’t been romantically involved with anyone. I’m not looking for love, I don’t want it.”

Her words stung, I winced at the pain in my heart.

She sighed. “Just because I don’t want it, doesn’t mean I am incapable of feeling it Harry. I haven’t felt it in a long time, but no matter how much I deny it, or try and hide it I do have feelings for you.”

This was enough for me. I grabbed her kissing her hard. I felt her laugh as she kissed me back.

After packing up the rest of Lexi’s stuff, I put it in the boot of the car along with a bag filled with my stuff. Jay jumped into the front seat of the car, I got in beside her turning on the engine.

“You ready?” I asked.

She nodded smiling widely.

It was a peaceful drive there. The only chatter we shared was to change the song on the radio. Once we arrived back at hers, she held my bag and opened the door for me.

“You know I am capable of holding my own bag” I laughed.

“Yeah, but you are the guest after all” she shrugged.

“Fair point Jay,” I followed her in.

It was exactly as I remembered it, a few bottles of drink left on the sides in the kitchen, a left over kebab slowly rotting away. She got a bin bag and threw the kebab along with other rubbish in it. She kept the bottles to my dismay, and put them in the fridge.

“Just in case” it was like she could read my thoughts.

I nodded “well you won’t need it with me here.”

She laughed “I know.”

“We can give Lex her stuff back later, but right now I’m tired and cold. I want a shower, do you want to join me?” she asked.

“Not for that reason” she shook her head. “Stop tempting me Harry.”

“I’m not the one who suggested the shower” I smirked.

“Okay fine, I’ll be 10 minutes.”

“Wait you can’t take it back, I’m coming” I ran ahead of her into her bathroom stripping off my clothes.

She did the same and turned on the hot water, we both stood under it staring at each other. The urge I had to touch her, to caress her but I stopped myself. I knew she wanted to wait, and I respect that. Even though she doesn’t want to admit her proper feelings for me, or at least go into detail about them. I can’t deny she really cares, if she didn’t we would have had sex the first time she kissed me.

I washed her hair, getting a little bit of soap in her eye. I’m only used to washing my hair, not another persons can you blame me? She then washed mine, weirdly enough I felt myself getting turned on by her hands all over my hair. No way in hell was I letting her wash me. I spattered soap on my chest and rubbed it in everywhere. I gulped as she did the same, keep it together Harry.

“Well that’s me all done” she smiled. She jumped out of the shower wrapping a towel around her.

“Yeah I’ll be out in a minute,” I laughed. I needed some time to calm down.

That evening we took Lexi her stuff, I tensed up beside Jay as we stood at their front door. She patted my hand trying to comfort me, god I can be such a girl. Her mum opened the door, he face cold.

“Jay where the hell have you been, why haven’t you been answering my calls?” she shrieked.

“Sorry had other things happening” she shrugged.

She looked over at me but didn’t mutter a word, great.

“Here is Lexi’s stuff” I passed her the bags my legs shaking.

She nodded taking them from me. She shook her head at Jay before closing the door.

“Well that went well” I tried to sound cheerful.

She burst out laughing “that’s my mum for ya, you’re lucky my dad didn’t answer.”

“Oh god don’t say that. I want your parents to like me” I frowned.

“Why? I couldn’t care less what they think about you and me, their opinions are irrelevant. It’s been a long day I think we should go back to mine, tomorrow I have plans for you” she smiled.

“Oh really” I tilted my head slipping my hand into hers.

She smiled giving nothing away. This was going to be interesting.
