One Night Part 2

The follow on from 'One Night Part 1'

What will happen to Louise and Charlie?

5. No

Suddenly I snapped.

What the hell was I doing?

I heard Charlie screaming my name behind me.

I turned in the air and managed to grab hold of the side of the bridge. The friction between my hands and the concrete bridge was excruciating, and the blood was soon dripping down into my eyes. I started screaming Charlie's name.

'Charlie! Charlie save me! HELP ME!'

Charlie came running, tears all down his face.

'Louise!' he cried, trying to grab my hand, 'What the hell are you doing?! I thought I had lost you! Our children! Do you really hate them that much to take your own life? What about me? What about-'

'Charlie, could you please yell at me when I'm not hanging from a 20 foot bridge?' I cried at him, tears and blood dripping of my chin onto my clothes.

'Right, right. Sorry,' he mumbled, gently inching his hands under mine and pulling me upwards. God, he was strong.

When we were safely on the bridge, we just collapsed in a heap, crying into each other.

'Charlie, I...I'm so sorry. I didn't know what I was doing. I was just so upset. I didn't mean to. I, I, I.....' I sobbed into his chest.

'Lou, I love you so much, and we are going to make this work. Are you listening to me, Lou?' He took my face in his hands and studied me. I leant in and kissed him.

We must have stayed there kissing for at least 15 minutes. People hurried past us, muttering to themselves, but we didn't care. We were both safe, and that was all that mattered.

Suddenly, I felt something move inside me. It was like a kick. No, it couldn't be. I felt my tummy, and, sure enough, I felt it again. The babies. I smiled and grabbed Charlie's hand, putting it to my tummy. He gasped, because there wasn't just one kick, there was two. The other baby. We both cuddled each other, wrapped in our own happiness. My blonde hair got stuck on Charlie's face with the wind and the tears, and I laughed because it looked like he had a moustache growing on the side of his face, but he didn't seem to mind.

When we finally stood up and got off of the ground, Charlie took my hand and lead my off the bridge, down into the valley and back to the hospital. We got in the car and drove on home...
