Life In the Friend Zone

Alexa was just a girl who fell in love with a boy. One problem though, he didn't share the same feelings.

7. To Add to Things

*Alexa's P.O.V.*

When I came home from class, I was waiting for Eleanor to come home so I could confront her about what Niall told me. As soon as the front door closed, I ran to the door. "Niall told me that he loved me!" I rushed out. "Told you!" she cheered. "What did you say back?" "That I had to go and I would call him back when I was done with class." "And did you?" she asked with a raised eyebrow. "No" I sighed. "Call him back you doof!" "I-I can't!" I stuttered. "Why not?" You could feel the tension rise in the room. "It's going to ruin our friendship at some point." "Either you tell him now or never talk to him again," El said with a stern voice. I didn't say anything as I rushed out of the house.

I walked down to the local pub to get something to eat. Luckily, I had some extra money from getting coffee this morning. My phone vibrated a couple times while I was out. I knew that it was either Eleanor or Niall seeing if I was alright. My waiter came back with a beer in his hand. "I think you have the wrong table," I told him. "No ma'am. This is from the man at the bar." This wasn't the first time a guy has bought me a drink. The guy was usually an older man, mid to early fifties, or a complete perv so I was shocked to see a man in a nice shirt and jeans who was around my age smile at me from the bar. I shyly waved back and took a sip of the beer.

"Mind if I sit with you?" the man asked. "Not at all," I grinned. "Thanks for the drink." "Any time. It seemed like you needed one." I need more than one," I scoffed. "Wanna talk about?" I looked into his eyes to see that they were filled with care. Any other time a guy would say that, there was a hint of lust in his eyes. "Just some drama with my friends," I sighed before taking the last sip of the dI rink. "Can't say I can help you there," he stopped so he could get my name. I smiled then put out my hand so he could shake it. "Alexa," I spoke. "That's a pretty name. Certainly fits you." His complement made me blush. "Why thank you," I did the same thing as he did a few minutes before. "Drew," he grinned.

We talked until midnight He walked me home like a gentleman. At my flat door, we exchanged numbers. "Text me whenever," he instructed. "Will do," I grinned as I opened my door. When I closed it I felt stupid for saying "Will do." I was thankful that Eleanor was asleep. I tried to keep as quiet as I could but I tripped over something causing a loud noise. "Who's there?" Eleanor asked in a terrified voice. "It's only me," I said as I limped to my room. "Where the hell have you been?" she asked, anger obvious in her voice. "The pub. Listen, can I get the speak in the morning? I'm tired and all I want is to get a shower then go to bed." I heard her footsteps retreat back to her room and her door close. "Holy fuck," I muttered as I walked to the bathroom.  I took a quick shower then went to bed. I tossed and turned for a while until I finally fell asleep.

I woke up at my usual time and got ready for class. I checked my phone to see over 10 missed calls and 20 texts from Niall plus a good morning from Drew. I smiled as I texted him back. I texted Niall just to see what he would say. He acted like I had been missing for years. He asked if I had thought about things between him and I. To be honest, while I was at the pub, I weighed the pros and the cons. After I met Drew, my thoughts have been clouded with images of him and I. I told him that I honestly haven't. I was surprised when he didn't try and persuade me into dating him. "Well I'll let you be then," he typed. I sighed as I put my phone in my pocket. Sometimes, he could be worst than a girl. "Do you want me to get you anything from Starbucks?" I asked El as I grabbed my bag only to hear silence. "Earth to Eleanor," I called. She just glared at me. "Are you seriously mad at me for waking you up?" "No. Just read this," she said as she handed me her phone. "Alexa and Niall Over?" the title of the article read. The article read that either I was cheating on Niall or we were over. I handed El her phone back then took mine out to make an angry tweet. "You cant end what you dont have". Simple, but effective. "I'll see you later," I sighed as I walked out of the house.

As I walked to my class, I heard Drew calling my name. "Hey," I smiled. He just waved. "What are you all dressed up for?" I jokingly asked. "Work," he smiled proudly. "I'm an intern at the Hilton Law Firm." "Woah. Somebody's going somewhere in life," I giggled. He just smiled and shook his head. "Where are you going?" he asked. "Class." "Mind if I walk you to class?" "Um, sure," I shyly smiled. He held out his arm so I looped mine with his. I gave him a hug once I got to my class. "See you later," I waved. "See ya," he waved. I felt like I was on cloud nine as I walked into class. As class went on, I tried to figure out my thoughts. What was I feeling for Drew? Was Niall going to be "the one" or would it be Drew. But I had only known him for not even a day. Or had I been leading Niall on the whole time.
