But, everything changes when Ravennica starts to fall Jeremy, a werewolf who is also engaged. What can she do to keep her family from falling to their doom at the hands of the werewolves, but at the same time follow her heart?

11. Judgement

I stopped in my tracks, and took a deep breath. What was I going to say to her? I couldn't even explain it to myself.I held my face in my hands, and sank to my knees. This was too much.

"What am I going to do?" I muttered. I was in the middle of the woods that surround my house. Could Jeremy find me here? Why do I even care?

Taking another deep breath I got to my feet and headed to our favorite spot.

She was waiting for me by the time I got there.

"What's going on with this werewolf?" She immediately asked. "And...why do you smell so different? smell like a bloodsucker."

"Um...I've been spending a lot of time with Alex, maybe that's why." I decided against telling her I drank human blood, at least for now. I couldn't hit her with too many secrets at once. "Anyways...I think I'm falling for a werewolf..."

"Have you been drinking enough blood recently? That's crazy! Alex is your boyfriend!"

"Actually, he proposed so he's my fiance now..." I dug my foot into the ground, not wanting to meet her judgmental gaze.

"What makes you think that you're falling for him?" She asked.

"Well, he smells wonderful." I smiled slightly, remembering his sweet flowery scent.

"You enjoy the scent of wet dog?" She said in a disgusted voice. I looked up at her sheepishly.

"He doesn't just smells like a wet dog, there's also this scent of's wonderful." I smiled at her, and then saw the look of anger and disgust on her face.

"Do you not hear what you are saying? You are engaged, Ravenna! The only thing you should be thinking about is getting that dog out of your head!" Her voice was stern, and I recoiled.

She was right. I had to marry Alex. What was I saying? I'm in love with a werewolf? Even if I didn't have to marry Alex there are no marriages between werewolves and vampires. I took a deep breath. "You're right, I just lost myself for a second. I'll try to forget about it."

"Ravenna, you better do more than try. You think you love a Alex that bad? I know you guys fight a lot, but seriously? That's a huge blow to even consider loving anyone else, especially a werewolf." She took a step closer, her voice rising with every sentence she spoke. "Not just to Alex, but to your family too, Ravenna! Too the whole coven!"

"I KNOW!" I snarled. "No matter what I do, I end up shaming the whole coven!"

"Ravenna, you're always asking too! You're always do things that you're not supposed to! Usually, the people of our coven deal with it, and I do my best to keep you in line. Now, you're telling me that you love a werewolf?" She kept coming closer and closer until she ended up yelling in my face.

Telling her was officially a mistake. Instead of her telling me that she would help me through this, she yells and tells me that I'm disappointing everyone. I'm sick of hearing it.

"Stand. Down." I growled through clenched teeth. I was part of the royal family she had no right to be yelling in MY face. "I know what my duty is to this coven, and I intend to see it through."

"I know you, you're going to screw it up. I didn't think you could screw up an arranged marriage, but you just proved me wrong." She stepped back and lowered her voice, but I could still see the anger in her eyes.

"I am NOT going to screw this up!" I stomped my foot, and my fangs instantly sharpened.

"I bet you will!"

I was not going to let her be right. I was going to prove her wrong, I could be the perfect leader. I would marry Alex, and help lead the vampires to victory. Heck, I would personally kill Jeremy myself.

"I'll do what I thinks best for the coven, and I'll personally kill that werewolf in the war!"

"We'll see."

We both stood there for a few minutes, just glaring and snarling at each other. To me it was a contest, seeing who would look away first. I was not going to lose this.

My phone rang. It rang three times before she said something.

"Aren't you going to pick that up?"

I reached into my pocket, and answered it without looking away from her. "Hello?"

"Where are you the meeting is about to start?" Alex concerned voice blared through the phone.

"Yeah, we'll be right there." I hung up. "After you?" I said with a smirk.

She walked past me, breaking the stare down between us.
