Facing The Truth (A OneDirection Fanfiction)

Everyone I knew moved on with their lives.

Jake stayed with me through summer. Holding me when I needed to cry. Putting up with me when I needed to scream and yell. Helping me laugh for those small moments of forgotten joy I had left. And talking to me when I lost touch with reality.

But he had to leave too. No one was going to stay and wait for the lost girl with the broken smile.

Eventually, I sold our house. And left for England. I had too many broken memories and lost dreams in California.

I could lie and say that I was excited. Or I could tell the truth and say my cheeks weren't dry from the tears the whole flight. Bittersweet memories and nostalgia flooded my shattered heart.

9. Soon Enough, He'll Be Gone

After replaying the scene over and over in my head, I finally had the courage to go back out there. I swung the bathroom door open and found Louis with an amused smirk on his face.

"What?" I was annoyed.

"I saw that." Still smirking.

"Saw what?"

"You and Harry."

'Oh crap.' I thought. 'This isn't gonna end well.'

"What about it?" I said starting to walk away from him. He pulled me back gently and the smirk was gone.

"Hey what's wrong?" He asked.

"Nothing's wrong. Why would anything be wrong?" I said with a slight sound of annoyance and sarcasm in my voice.

"Scar, I'm not stupid. It's obvious you're ticked off."

"Hey guys..." Eleanor walked up to us.

"Hey El, can I talk to you?" I said with desperation in my voice and tears threatening to flow.

"Of course. Come on. I'll get us some drinks." She smiled and left to get the drinks. She was gorgeous, and the way her and Louis acted around each other was adorable.

"Ok Scar, what's going on? Seriously." Louis asked once again.

The look on his face made me spill everything out.

"Harry kissed me, unexpectedly, and I kissed back." I said knowing that wasn't the whole story.

"You guys are leaving in less than twelve hours and he goes and kisses me. It means nothing to him. Louis I don't just go around kissing guys like he does to girls. So I'm just another girl on his list." I said it quickly and with anger.

"You have no idea.." I heard him whisper to himself.

That's when Eleanor showed up with the drinks and we left to a quiet spot in my backyard, away from the insanity.

"So what's up?" She asked.

"Harry kissed me."

"Oh yeah I saw that. You guys are adorable." She said with a smile.

"No, we're not. El, they're leaving tomorrow and he knows that. Why the kiss? I just got dumped by my stupid boyfriend. And I actually felt something when he kissed me, and then he's just going to leave and I'll just be another girl to him." The tears then began to flow uncontrollably.

"Oh sweetie.." She put an arm around me and gave me a tight hug.

"What if Harry thinks more of you?" she said.

"Wouldn't he have at least said something?"

"Well boys aren't exactly easy to read."

"I feel so stupid." I whined.

"Harry is the stupid one. When I see him, god I'm gonna give him the beating of his life."

I smiled. "Thanks El, you're the best."

"Now come on, let's finish off the night with a bang!" we giggled and ran back inside. She left to find Louis and I went to the front yard to find Dev.

There was no one out there except for someone sitting on the planter. It was peaceful and quiet.

"Harry?" I recognized the figure.

"She hates mee." He slurred, and took another swig of the bottle in his hand. He looked up at me and I could see that his eyes were bloodshot. Drunk.

"Who hates you?" I asked.

"The one...with beautiful eyes." He looked back at the ground. He sniffled. I noticed a slash of red on his cheek.

"Harry, what happened?" I sat next to him and reached out to touch his

"Don't touch me woman, I'm taken." His words words were slurred. I giggled. Lucky girl she must be.

"Come on, let's get you inside and clean you up." I helped him off the planter and he fell. Great, he can't walk.

"Harry come on, you're gonna have to help me with this." I put his arm around my shoulder and helped him inside. He was trying his best to not lean on me too much but wasn't succeeding.

I finally got him upstairs and unlocked my room, turned on the light and helped him onto the bed.

"Stay here. I'll get some rubbing alcohol and bandages."

"Oh no thank you. No alcohol. I'm already drunk.." he said before grabbing my teddy bear and getting comfortable.

When I came back his shirt was off and he was asleep.

"Ugh no Harry. Come on. Wake up. Harry.....Harry."

"Mmmm?" he replied sleepily.

"Your cheek is still bleeding, let's get you cleaned up."

He shifted in the bed and my eyes wouldn't leave his torso. It was built and looked firm. 'Snap out of it!'

I came and sat next to him while he was still laying down. His eyes focused on my every move.

"How'd this happen?" I asked while carefully wiping the blood away with the alcohol. He winced slightly.

"I don't know." he said.

"Does it hurt?"

"Not anymore." his voice was raspy.

I bandaged the green eyed mess in front me and laid down next to him.

"Thank you." he whispered.

"Scar, Matt is stupid." he said with a slight sound of sadness.

"Why is that?" I asked curiously.

"He took what he had for granted."

"How do you know that?"

"Because her eyes say it all." his words slurred slightly.

I propped myself up with my elbow and watched his eyes study my face.

"Wanna go back downstairs?" I asked him.

"No. I need to sleep this off. Only I would be this drunk before our flight tomorrow."

I smiled. "Ok."

The party died down at around 4 am and everyone was gone by 5 am. I took one good look at the house, ignored it and decided to go to sleep. The boys helped me clean up the food and we were all off to bed. Eleanor I and exchanged numbers and promised to text.

I walked into my room, changed, and slipped into bed, all without turning the light on.

I had completely forgotten that Harry was still in my bed until I felt two strong arms curl around my waist tightly and pull me to a warm, firm chest.

At first my heart sunk, then I remembered Harry.

He pulled me into his warm embrace and rested his head in the crook of my neck. His warm breath tickled me.

Strange enough, our bodies fit just right against each other. I was too tired to fight it so let my eyes droop and I fell asleep feeling safe.
