Facing The Truth (A OneDirection Fanfiction)

Everyone I knew moved on with their lives.

Jake stayed with me through summer. Holding me when I needed to cry. Putting up with me when I needed to scream and yell. Helping me laugh for those small moments of forgotten joy I had left. And talking to me when I lost touch with reality.

But he had to leave too. No one was going to stay and wait for the lost girl with the broken smile.

Eventually, I sold our house. And left for England. I had too many broken memories and lost dreams in California.

I could lie and say that I was excited. Or I could tell the truth and say my cheeks weren't dry from the tears the whole flight. Bittersweet memories and nostalgia flooded my shattered heart.

11. Moving On?

*Harry's POV*

It's been almost 7 months since I've last seen her. I was supposed to be over it by now.

Over the fact that there was nothing going on between us.

Over the fact that I can't have her.

Last thing I said to her was just "Bye." And I was gone. I was such a jerk!

A long goodbye would have been too hard for me.

"Harry?" Louis's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Still thinking about her?" He knew exactly what I was feeling.

"I'd be lying if I said no." I mumbled.

"Wow. What happened to the old Haz? No more of your one night stands?" He was amused.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I got up and left outside.

We were on break. We've been so busy with our new album. All of a sudden our fame grew and our faces were everywhere.

'I wonder if she ever watches our interviews.'

*Louis's POV*

Ever since that weekend in California, Harry wouldn't stop thinking about Scarlette.

He would stare at her number in his phone and after promising himself that he would call her, he'd give up and close his iPhone.

"There's no chance for us. I would be just teasing myself if I call her knowing that." His words rang in my ears.

The boy was head over heels for her. And I'm not going to lie. She was very pretty and charming, but he had to get over it.

"Is it Scarlette again?" El sauntered over and cuddled up to me on the couch.

"What else?" I chuckled.

"You know, I talked to her a couple times since California. I could say hi to her for Harry." El was hopeful to get them together. She believed they were perfect for each other.

"I doubt he'll be okay with it."

She pouted.

*Scarlette's POV*

"So, so what! I'm still a rockstar! I got my rock moves! And I don't need yooouuu tonight!"

I belted out the lyrics to So What by P!nk while making breakfast with Katie.

Katie was the first person who made England feel welcoming. We both worked at a dance school as dance teachers. We both taught classes together.

I was recruited by the head of the school when she saw me in the park, dancing to my iPod.

I got paired with Katie and she offered me to live with her in her flat, after she heard my story.

She reminded me of Dev in so many ways, and it made my belly flop when she did. But she was special in her own way.

"Aw is Hunter hungry?" She cooed to him. They got along so well, I was surprised.

He let out a long meow.

"I'm guessing yes..." I giggled.

I poured him his favorite cereal and joined Katie on the table.

"So, any plans for today?" she asked with that British accent of hers.

"Not that I know of."

"Let's go to the beach." she asked with hopeful eyes.

"Oh please Scar!! You have to hit the waves! It's amazing here!"

"Not really feeling it Katie..."

"Not today ok?" I looked at her.

"Fine. I'm going to go anyways. I'll go with Brennan." She stuck her tongue out at me.

"I'm genuinely hurt." I pouted and we broke into laughter.

"Alright see ya tonight?" she was gathering her things.

"Yes ma'am. I mean, if you don't get eaten by sharks. Or drown." I smiled at her.

She looked at me with a serious look, "Trust me, I'm laughing on the inside."

"Haha bye."

And she was gone.

I cleared the table and got dressed. I decided that I was going to run down to the mall and shop for a little.

*Harry's POV*

I had my hoodie up and my sunglasses on my eyes, so taking a walk wouldn't be so bad.

The weather was nice out and I loved watching people milling around.

My eyes ventured over to a girl with curly black hair that reminded me of Scarlette. She was running her fingers through her hair, then fluffed it up a bit. Her back was to me so I couldn't see her face.

I looked away. Great. Everywhere I went she still managed to run through my mind.

Suddenly I heard her loud bubbly laugh. Ok this is ridiculous.

I look over at the same girl the same moment she turned around.

Deep black eyes framed with long black eyelashes landed in mine.
