7. You Are A Part Of Me

***IMPORTANT AUTHORS NOTE!****Hello everyone! I'm starting a new thing. I"m going to ask a question at the beginning of each chapter and whoever gives me my favourite answers, I will give a shout out to in the beginning of the next chapter. My first question: What are you opinions on the whole Haylor thing? Let me know :)

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the chapter. It's honestly not the best I've written, and I'm not sure I like it. But here it is anyways. Also....70+ likes until the next chapter!

Chapter Six

Liam fidgeted nervously next to Emily in the back of the car. He put up the screen so the driver couldn’t see or hear them because he knew she was going to be upset. He stared at her, waiting for her reaction, but he got none. She just sat there, staring straight ahead, a blank expression on her face. And then she did the unexpected. She burst out into fits of laughter.

“So you’re meaning to tell me, that you woke me up at 3 am to take me to the hospital, because Harry and Max got into a little bit of a tiff and are getting stitches?” There were tears falling down her face because she was laughing so hard.

“Emily, it’s not funny, someone could have gotten seriously hurt.” Liam glared at her.

“Alright Daddy Direction, loosen up a little bit. Was anyone actually seriously hurt? No. Do you think you could have waited till a decent hour to wake me? Yes.”

“Fine, no one was seriously hurt, but don’t tell me that you think this wasn’t over you.” He snapped at her. He was almost tired of everyone else fighting over her. He wished they would all go away so he could just be with her already. But she didn’t even see him that way, so why did he bother? He knew that she thought that his crush on her was just a school-boy crush, but it wasn’t. It was so much more.

“Okay Liam,” she sighed, giving in, “tell me who started it.”

Max walked into the bar with Siva, Tom, and Jay. Nathan was at home with his wife. The two had only left the house once or twice since getting married, and none of them wanted to bother them, or know what was going on in there. They all had a pretty good idea though. Max just needed a night out with the boys. He needed to find the fittest girl in the club and take her home and make her moan his name in order to forget about the one person he actually wanted to be with. Max George needed a one night stand.

“Ah bloody hell, we chose one hell of a place to forget about Emily.” Jay nodded towards the bar. Max lifted his gaze to be met with the eyes of the last person he wanted to see. Harry Styles.

Harry was also there to forget. Forget the fact that even though he had broken things off with Taylor, he probably would never get back together with Emily. She was seeing someone else now, and he had messed things up so badly. He knew that she was worth the fight, but he was scared, and he had every reason to be.

“Shit, look what the cat dragged in.” Louis nudged Harry in the ribs causing Harry to look towards the door. What the hell was Max George doing here? And if he was here, then so would…Harry searched the crowd for the petite girl. But he couldn’t find her. He had also lost sight of Max. Harry growled, throwing back the rest of his drink.

“Let’s just get out of here.” Zayn tugged on Harry’s arm. The last thing any of them needed was confrontation.

“Sure, just let me go to the men’s room first.” Harry muttered, his already low mood getting even worse. He quickly broke away from his friends. It was their first night out together in a long time. He had called them telling them of his split with Taylor and they immediately invited him out for celebratory drinks. Wow, they really hadn’t liked her. He felt a lot better now that he wasn’t with Taylor. On his way to the restrooms, something caught his eye. A certain man who he thought was dating Emily was dancing dirty with an underdressed blonde girl, disgustingly shoving his tongue down her throat.

“WHAT THE FUCK!” Before Harry knew it, he had thrown himself at Max, pulling him off the girl.

“Eyy, mate, sod off, I got her fir—.” Max’s eyes went wide when he realized who his attacker was. “Harry? What the hell, get off of me.” Max pushed Harry back.

“You know, you’re lucky I haven’t killed you yet, but I’m going to let Emily do that for me.” Harry growled, shoving Max again.

“No she won’t. She won’t even get mad.” Max raised his eyebrows, smirking at Harry. And then Harry’s fist connected with Max’s jaw.

“So….Harry started it.” Emily said simply. She was tired, and she just wanted to go back to bed.

“Max was making out with another girl!” Liam exclaimed, making extreme gestures. He couldn’t understand why Emily was being so cool about this.

“He didn’t do anything wrong.” Emily rolled her eyes; not really wanting to say what she knew was going to come out eventually.

“How are you not angry? He’s cheating on you!” Liam was getting really frustrated now.

“No he’s not. We broke up. He was probably just trying to get over me or something.” She crossed her arms, bored with the conversation. She hated herself for not loving Max. He was everything a girl could wish for. Sweet, kind, loving, good looking, understanding, not to mention an amazing shag, but she just couldn’t connect with him on the level that she wanted to.

“You what? Why didn’t you tell me right away?” Liam felt hurt. Usually Emily came to him about everything, but ever since she had started her relationship with Max, she didn’t tell him much. Not that he wanted to know much about her relationship with another man, especially when the other man was Max George.

“I’m sorry. I just wanted to sleep on it for the night. Max said a lot of things that I needed to process.” She shook her head, closing her eyes.

“What did he say? Am I going to have to beat him even more?” Liam clenched his fists.

“No, Liam, calm down.” Emily laughed a little bit, leaning back into her seat, “He just said that he couldn’t be second best to anyone, especially not Harry. And he said that I should fight for Harry. And he also said that…Well he said that you have feelings for me too.” She gulped, waiting for Liam’s reaction. Liam closed his eyes, processing it all. Was Max right? Being second best would never make Liam happy, and he knew that anyone who wasn’t Harry would always be second best for Emily.

“I don’t want to be second best either.” Liam whispered, his eyes filling with tears.

“Oh Liam. You’ll never be second best for me. You’ll always be the one I go to when I need to talk. You’ll always be my Liam. I just don’t love you in the way you love me.” Emily shifted in her seat, wrapping her arms around Liam.

“I love you.” Liam said, simply.

“I know. I seem to be breaking a lot of hearts lately.” Emily chuckled to herself, darkly.

“I think that maybe after tonight, I should distance myself for a bit. Let you and Harry figure things out and maybe get over you.” Liam pulled away, not able to meet her gaze.

“What are you talking about Liam?” Emily’s eyes started to fill as well.

“I’m just saying we need a friendship break. Because it’s breaking my heart to be around you.”

“I’m so sorry Liam. I really am.” Emily clutched at his arm, trying to get him to look at her. Just then they pulled up to the hospital. Liam scrambled out the door, trying to get away from it all. He made his way quickly into the hospital, stalking into Harry and Max’s joint room. Emily was close behind him.

“She’s all yours.” Liam grunted at the two men before rushing away, out of the hospital, and out of Emily’s life.

Max and Harry stood up immediately as Emily walked into the room. She stopped at the doorway, taking in Max’s ripped shirt and stitched up eyebrow. He was definitely going to have a shiner. Then she slid her eyes to Harry, with his dishevelled locks, bloody nose, and fat lip. They both held their breath trying to read her face, anticipate her reaction, but all they were met with was a blank face.

“You guys are such idiots.” Emily burst out into laughter, surprising both of them. She gripped the door frame as she bent over in laughter, tears falling down her face from the lack of air.

“Uh Em?” Harry took a cautious step closer. But Emily took a step past Harry and stood in front of Max, her giggles subsiding, just barely.

“I heard you were with a blondie?” She wiggled her eyebrows at Max.

“Maybe.” Max smirked at Emily. It was too soon to joke about things with Emily. His heart still hurt, but he’d play along for her sake. He truly wanted her to be with Harry, because all Max wanted was for her to be happy. And everyone knew that Harry was the one thing that was going to keep her constantly happy. That is if he admitted it to himself too.

“Can someone explain to me what the fuck is going on?” Harry shouted, losing his patience. Max rolled his eyes, giving Emily a quick kiss on the top of the head before making his way to the door.

“I should probably get going before the press catches wind of this. Good luck.” Max winked at Emily before leaving.

“What is so funny?” Harry growled, sitting back on the bed, his head ache coming on in full force.

“Why do you even care Harry? Don’t you have a girlfriend to attend to you?” Emily suddenly turned cold at his hostile demeanor.

“I broke up with Taylor.” Harry said matter-of-a-factly. Suddenly Emily knew why Liam was so pissed that she hadn’t told him right away. She felt like Taylor was the only thing in her way with Harry. And Harry not telling her made her feel like he really had gotten over her.

“Oh.” She nodded. She couldn’t think of anything else to say or do, so she turned on her heel.

“You still need to tell me why this is all so funny to you.” Emily swivelled around, facing the curly haired man in front of her.

“Max and I broke up.” She smirked at him. Suddenly it all made sense to Harry. It was past 4 am and Emily had been dragged out of bed because her two ex-boyfriends had gotten in a fight over a problem that wasn’t even there. Oddly enough, Harry forgot all about his injuries and a sweet wave of relief washed through his body.

            “Oh.” He echoed her response.

“Yeah.” She gulped, not knowing what to do next.

“Well…I should get going. I hope you feel better.” She smiled at him, weakly, wishing the butterflies in her stomach and the fireworks in her head would just go away. Surely he wasn’t feeling it too. She made her way down the hallway and into the waiting room where Louis was sitting, waiting for his two best friends.

“Well?” Louis cocked his head to the side.

“We’re both single and nothing happened, Lou. He doesn’t love me anymore.” She drooped her head in defeat.

“I wouldn’t say that just yet.” Louis winked, quickly excusing himself to go the restroom. Emily felt a presence behind her and shivers ran down her spine.

“I fucked up.” His raspy voice whispered in her ear, his breath falling down her neck.

“So did I.” She nodded, refusing to turn and look him in the eye.

“I can’t take my mistakes, and I won’t ask you to forget them. Emily, those things that I said to you…I didn’t mean them at all. I was upset, and scared. It’s no excuse, it really isn’t. But I don’t think I could ever fall out of love with you, no matter how hard I tried. You are a part of me, and I can’t just forget that. I can’t get you out of my system. You’re my drug and I don’t want to stop.” He wrapped his arms around her waist, turning her so that she was facing him.

“Harry…It’s not like we can just pick up where we left off.” She still couldn’t meet his eyes. She didn’t know what was going to happen from here, and she was scared that Harry was going to turn her away again.

“Which is why I think we should start over. Properly. Not a drunk almost-one-night-stand. Emily Binks, will you do the honor of going on a date with me?” He cupped her face in his hands, forcing her to look up at him. He searched her face for her reaction, his beautiful green eyes fanning over her features.

“I couldn’t think of anything I’d like more.” She smiled, letting out a sigh of relief. Harry’s face broke out into a huge grin, capturing all of his facial features.

“I’ll pick you up tomorrow at 6.” And suddenly everything was going back to the way it should have been.
