In any ordinary fan fiction, movie, or story, life would go on, everything would be perfect, and Harry and Emily would live happily ever after in a magical fairy kingdom. But this was real life, and things change. People change. And three years later, Harry and Emily were both very different people, whether they could admit it or not. He remembered how whenever she was stressing out at work, he would stop by with a hot chai tea latte, and one sip and she would instantly let all the kinks release from her body. But now all she drank was herbal tea, because caffeine made her feel too wired. She used to go for long runs in order to clear her mind, but now she liked to go to yoga classes. She never used to just sit around and relax, her mind always had to be doing something, she always had to be active, but now she could just lie around all day in nothing but sweats, watching bad daytime television. She wasn’t the girl that he was used to, and he didn’t know how to handle it. The one change that he hated the most though was how easily she leaned on Liam Payne for help. It was like Liam had become a part of their relationship. Whenever something went wrong, or even if Emily was a little bit bored, instantly Liam would be there. Emily had this sick theory that the kiss that they had shared had solved everything and they could all go back to being friends. But Harry knew better. Harry saw the way Liam looked at Emily. It was the same way Harry looked at her. So maybe Harry had to consider something, maybe Liam was better for Emily. Maybe he was what she needed.

(But as Emily lay there, tracing infinity signs over his chest, he changed his mind. He was going to win her, once and for all)

“Harry, this is a really bad idea. I don’t think Liam wants to see me.” Danielle pulled herself away from the curly haired fool who was dragging her towards Liam’s flat.

“Come on Dani. Of course he wants to see you!” Harry was pulling reasons for her to see Liam out of nowhere, some of them not making any sense (“He needs more curly in his life”)

“Harry, you and I both know that Liam and I didn’t leave things on good terms.” Dani crossed her arms over her chest. Yes, it was true; Danielle and Liam had a huge fight before they completely severed ties with each other. Their initial break up hadn’t been that bad. They were both busy with their careers. Performing was demanding, and they both knew it. They agreed to revisit things when their lives had settled down a little bit, but neither of their lives ever settled down. And then when Danielle heard about Liam’s crush on Emily, she lost it. She was so used to being the one for Liam, and having him think that someone else could replace her, it drove her mad. It caused her to leer at pictures of Emily in tabloids; it caused her to want to vomit every time one of the boys was brought up. She was hopelessly in love with Liam Payne, and he had moved on. And she couldn’t handle that. So she stormed into his apartment one night and told him they either got back together now, or he had lost her forever. And he chose to lose her.

Liam couldn’t believe his eyes. He was stunned. Stuck. In an instant everything changed. Seeing that curly haired dancer in his apartment again brought back all the feelings she had left him with. He regretted turning her away that night, but he wasn’t over Emily, and he couldn’t do that to Danielle, she deserved someone who could give her all of his time and attention. But Liam couldn’t do that, because they were both always on tours, or doing publicity, or he was too busy picking up Emily’s pieces. He had let himself get consumed by Emily because he didn’t want to face trying to move on from Dani because that would just hurt him too much. It would kill him. Emily would always have a special hold over Liam, but Liam knew that Danielle was the kind of girl he could spend the rest of his life with. Because she loved him, and only him, as opposed to Emily, who would always belong to Harry.
