7. Preparing With A Star

New chapter!!! Hope you like it :)

Laurel’s POV

“Good morning sunshine! The world says hello!” Louis practically yelled as he walked into the studio Monday morning.

“Well someone’s feeling chipper,” I raised my eyebrows. “Are you excited for tonight?”

“Hell yeah!” Louis pumped his fist in the air.

“Alright then, we have a couple of hours to practice before we have to go to the stage and camera block. And then after we have the entire dress rehearsal with all the rest of the stars.” I told him. “So start stretching.”

Louis sat himself across from me and began running through the stretches I had him do before every practice. I had my legs out straight and my face to my knees and when I came up I found Louis staring at me. “Can I help you?”

“What did Eleanor say to you on Saturday night?” he asked.

“Nothing,” I answered. He raised his eyebrows, obviously not believing my response. “Seriously.”

“If it was nothing then why did she talk to you off to the side; she could’ve said it in front of the rest of us,” Louis countered.

“How should I know? She’s not my girlfriend. Why don’t you ask her?” I replied.

“I did. She told me that she wished you good luck on today’s show.” Louis stared me down as if trying to determine if I was lying.

I shrugged, “She did wish me luck.” Among basically threatening me to stay away from her boyfriend.

Lou narrowed his eyes at me, but I decided to ignore his stare and finish stretching. I thought back to Saturday when Eleanor pulled me aside.

“Listen, I don’t want to sound rude, but don’t try anything with my boyfriend.” Eleanor said.

“I don’t think of him like that,” I protested.

She held up her hand, “It doesn’t matter. I’m just warning you to keep your hands to yourself. Louis’ attractive and charming, but most importantly, he’s mine.” I opened my mouth to defend myself but she cut me off. “Got it?”

“Yeah, got it.”

I rolled my eyes as I remembered her words. Did people think I was a slut or something? I mean I must have been  I had dated one of my partners, before the show, and it didn’t exactly work. Shaking my head to get rid of those thoughts, I got into a split and reached towards my front foot. Dating your dance partner rarely worked out and I wouldn’t try to steal someone else’s boyfriend.

“I’ve never understood how people can do splits.” Louis commented. I looked up before lifting myself up and switched to my left leg split.

“It’s not that hard.” I shrugged.

Louis gave a look of disbelief, “If I tried that my family jewels would be no more.”

I giggled as I stood up. “Enough about your precious jewels and let’s dance.”

“I do believe I’m becoming a cha-cha master.” Louis bragged.

“Most definitely,” I took his hand and led him to where we’d begin the dance. “Now mister cha-cha master make this routine as perfect as possible, okay?”

He nodded and got into his starting position as I got into mine.

I jumped into my father’s arms as soon as I saw him standing outside my trailer. I hugged him tight and he spun me around. Once he set me down, I saw two other guys standing with him. “Mason! Logan!” I tackled them into a hug.

“God, when did you get so strong?” Mason asked when I released him.

“Please, I’ve always been stronger than you big bro.” I flexed my arms and kissed my bicep. Mason reached to mess up my hair like he usually does, but I ducked out of the way. “If you mess up my hair, the stylist will kill me! Come in.” I stepped aside as the three men walked into my trailer.

“This place looks the same as it did last year,” Logan commented. “You should let me decorate it. I could add a TV and a game system; it’d be awesome.”

“Uh huh, and is this for my benefit or yours when you decide to visit?” I asked.

“Mine.” He grinned at me and I rolled my eyes.

“Here honey, my famous double chocolate chip cookies.” Dad handed me a container of my absolute favorite cookies.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you!” I opened the container and popped a cookie in mouth.

It was weird, but if I didn’t have these cookies before I performed, I felt like I wasn’t ready and wouldn’t perform well. It had been a tradition since Mason and I competed in hip hop competitions and I’ve never performed without the cookies.

“So where’s this partner of yours?” Dad asked.

“Probably getting dressed.” I guessed.

“Well he better get his ass here; we need to have a little chat with him about our special girl.” Logan stated.

“Seriously? I’m old enough to take care of myself.” I pouted.

“Just because he’s your partner does not give him permission to have his hands all over you,” Mason said.

“He has a girlfriend.” I pointed out. “And why do you think I’d let a guy have his hands all over me?” I raised my eyebrows.

My brothers realized how what they just said sounded and stuttered, trying to figure out something to say to make it right. They continued to stutter, looking at each other for help as I continued to stare at them, waiting for an answer. Logan and Mason turned to our dad and he just shrugged, “If you try to say anything I can almost guarantee you’ll make it worse.”

I grinned, “Damn straight.”

There was a knock on the door and I opened it to reveal Louis in his dress shirt, pants and tie. “Boys, meet Louis; Louis meet my dad, Logan and Mason. Be nice.” I warned.

“Nice to meet you sir.” Louis shook my dad’s hand. Louis turned to face my brothers who were both standing with their arms crossed over their chests and stern expressions on their faces.

“What are your intentions with my sister?” Mason demanded.

“Mase!” I scolded and punched his arm.

“What the hell?!” he yelled.

“I told you to play nice.” I reminded him. He opened his mouth to respond and I silenced him with a glare.

“All I want to do is dance with Laurel and hopefully win the competition.” Louis answered Mason’s question.

Mason pondered over his answer and decided Louis didn’t mean any harm because he stuck out his hand for Louis to shake; Logan did the same and gave Louis a bro hug. I looked at my dad and he smiled and nodded which I took to mean he approved of Louis.

The four boys continued to talk as I munched on the cookies, only stopping when there was another knock on the trailer door, this time it was a producer telling Louis and I to get into the studio for hair and makeup.

“You ready to perform for the first time?” I asked as we walked towards the studio.

“I think I might shit my pants, but yeah.”
