Dancing With A Star

This season on Britain's Dancing With The Stars, Louis Tomlinson from the world's biggest boyband, One Direction, will test his dancing skills. Louis is known for being the prankster, but will his partner Laurel Weiss be able to turn him from jokester to dancer? Will passion for the dance turn into something more? Follow their story and find out.

19. Contemporary With A Star

I hope you all enjoy this chapter!!

The video above is the routine in this chapter, but I don't picture Louis doing the routine exactly like how it's done because the male dancer above is a professional. I do think that this routine went very well with Little Things and I hope you like it.

Laurel’s POV

“Push, push, push and reach. Grab left then right; down and lift.”

“What’s up?! Oh shit!” I heard before Louis’ flinched and his hands slipped off of my waist. I tucked my shoulder and fell onto the mat.

“Laurel, are you okay?” Louis asked, kneeling next to me.

I nodded and sat up, “See you were worried that you would drop me, but technically that would be his fault.” I pointed at Niall, who had yelled and caused Louis to let go.

“Oops?” Niall shrugged sheepishly.

Niall held his hand out and he pulled me to my feet before I noticed the guitar case in his hands. “Are you guys okay with performing on the show?” I asked them.

They all nodded and Liam said, “We wouldn’t miss it.”

I grinned, “Sweet. Now the timing to the song is going to be a bit different, so we need to figure that out.”

“Just tell us what to do,” Zayn said.

“I’ve planned the routine out so Liam and Zayn’s solo will be the same, along with the first chorus. And then it’ll go to Harry’s solo. “Now Niall, I took the liberty of assuming that you would play the guitar especially because I had to cut out your solo. And I do apologize for that; it’s just difficult trying to fit a three minute song into a two minute dance.”

“That’s fine by me. It’s your show; we’re just here to help.” Niall told me.

I smiled at him, “Can you guys sing it how I said and I’ll block the routine. When I hold up my hand that’ll mean to stop, one finger means to slow down and then I’ll motion for when you can start again. Okay?”

“I think I follow,” Zayn scratched his head.

“Just go with it,” I said. I stood up and walked into the center of the studio before motioning for them to start the song. For Zayn’s solo, I danced Louis’ part before switching to my own part of the routine when Liam began singing.

I held up my hand and they stopped, “Do you think you could extend the last three lines of the chorus? Louis, come here and we’re going to start from the third lift and go until the end of the chorus, okay?” Louis nodded and got up before standing behind me. “And you guys start from ‘but if I do’.” I gave them a thumbs up and they began to sing.

Louis and I reached forward before he wrapped his arms around my waist and spun me around. When he put me down, I stepped backwards and he did a pirouette before I began an illusion turn where Louis would catch my leg, lift my leg and spun me into his chest. We were chest to chest, his arms wrapped around my back and my left knee was bent at his hip. I locked eyes with him as I slid down his chest until my feet were back on the floor.

His arms supported me as I leaned backwards, almost into a backbend, but instead I put my head then shoulders onto the floor until I was laying flat on my back. Louis did a cartwheel over my head before grabbing my arms and pulling me back into him as he sat on the floor, right as the boys sang, “And all your little things.”

“That was really good,” Liam clapped when we finished.

“He’s been working really hard,” I squeezed Louis’ shoulder. “But that timing was perfect. Just make sure that you say ‘little things’ when Louis pulls me back.” They all nodded and I turned to Harry who had already been looking at me. “Your turn.”

“Are you finally ready to try this lift?” I asked Louis.

“Not really,” he replied.

There were three days left until the performance and Louis was still reluctant to try this lift. I told him repeatedly that he wasn’t going to drop me, but he still refused to try it. I pursed my lips, “Hold that thought.”

I walked out of our studio and into the studio next door. “Hey Josh!” I called.

Josh stopped what he was doing with his partner and turned to look at me. “What are you doing here?” He asked.

“I need your help for a second,” I said.

He smirked at me before he turned to his partner, “I’ll be right back.”

I spun on my heel and he followed me back into my studio. “Louis, I’m going to show you that there’s nothing to worry about.” I told him. “I’m going to do the lift with Josh, who I don’t really trust enough to catch me.”

“Hey! I’m right here.” Josh protested.

“No offense, I mean you’re a good dancer, but you must admit that you’re not the most reliable person.” I winced. “But Louis the point is that I trust you even though you’ve never done it before.”

“But what if he drops you?” Louis asked.

I sniffed, “I’ll strangle him.”

Both boys look at me wide eyed and I just smiled back. Then I turned to Josh and explained what he had to do for this lift.

“I got it,” Josh assured me for the fifth time.

“Ready?” I asked and he nodded. I ran a couple steps before my hands were on his shoulders and he was pushing me up and around before catching me. “See?” I said to Louis.

“I guess,” he answered.

“Thanks,” I said to Josh before telling him to shoo. “You’re turn. We’ll take it slow though, I promise.”

Louis dragged his hands over his face before slowly coming towards me. “Promise that if I do drop you that you won’t strangle me.” He said seriously.

I smiled, “I promise you I won’t.” Louis let out breath in relief before I took his hands and placed them on my waist. “I know you’re nervous about this lift so I broke it down into steps. And I want you to be comfortable, so we’ll do each step as many times as you want. Okay?” Louis nodded. “Now on the count of three, I’m going to jump at the same time you lift me up. And once your arms are fully extended then just let me back down. One, two, three.” Louis’ hands tightened on my waist as he raised me up for a couple of seconds before I landed back on the ground. “Not so hard, right?”

“Not yet,” Louis said. “What’s the next step?”

“You’re going to lift me the same way, but when I’m above your head you’re going to push my right hip back and my left hip forward, so that when I land I’ll be facing away from you.” I explained.

“Okay,” Louis said slowly.

“One, two, three.” I counted down. I was up in the air before being spun and landing on my feet. “Not bad.”

“Can we do that again?” Louis asked.

I nodded before turning back to face him and put my hands on his shoulders. We practiced this step a few more times before he said he was ready to move on.

“This gets a bit tricky,” I warned. “Because there’s really no other way then to just do the lift.”

“Alright,” Louis cocked his head to the side as I pulled the mat towards us.

“So, you’re going to lift me by having one hand on the back of my leg and the other on my hip. You’ll have to extend your right arm all of the way and your left is going to push my hip back.” I demonstrated for him. “And as I come down, your right arm is going to catch me by my waist and your left hand is going to catch my left leg.” I had Louis lift me up in the position he would have to catch me in as to not drop me on the floor. I grabbed his shoulders and looked into his eyes. “Are you ready for this?”

Louis looked determined as he said, “Yes.”

“We’ll do it from a standstill first and then I’ll run into it.” I said. I bent my leg and Louis put his hand behind my knee as I rested my hands on his shoulders. “One, two, three.” I pushed off his shoulders and used the momentum to spin and then fall.

His arm caught me by my side, but the other missed my leg and my feet landed hard against the mat. “Sorry about that,” Louis said as I righted myself.

“No problem,” I rolled my ankle. “Let’s do it again.”

I’m in love with you, and all your little things.” The boys harmonized.

“That ending could be a bit smoother, but not bad.” I high-fived Louis. “Let’s do it from the beginning one more time.”

Louis and I got into the starting position before I nodded at Niall, who began playing the guitar. This was the last dress rehearsal before the show later and I was feeling pretty positive about this routine. The music, the lighting and the dance all came together better than I could’ve expected.

“I think you guys are going to do amazing,” Liam walked off the stage.

“I agree,” Zayn said.

“Laurel is quite amazing,” Louis squeezed my shoulder.

I could feel my cheeks heating up at his words, but I shrugged it off. “I try my best.”

“Now what?” Niall asked.

“You guys go get dressed and ready for the show since we’re up first and Louis and I will head off to hair and makeup.” I instructed.

“Yes ma’am.” Harry saluted me.

I shook my head, “You’re an idiot.”

“I try my best,” he threw my words back at me.

I grinned at him before heading backstage with Louis trailing behind me. We made it to the trailer and Louis was sat in the chair first. I inspected my nails as the stylist brushed through Louis’ hair before leaving it where the fringe fell in his eyes.

Soon enough it was my turn in the chair and Jenny brushed through my hair before using a flat iron to put waves in my hair. Then Nina applied a light layer of makeup before sending us on our way. Since we were already dressed, or half dressed in Louis’ case since he was shirtless. And I cannot be blamed for this because I had no influence for the outfits this week. But that doesn’t mean I won’t appreciate the view.

We stepped into the line that we would walk out onto the dance floor in. As we waited, I was rolling my neck when I felt a pinch way to close to my ass for comfort. I spun around only to see Josh smirking at me. I smiled at him before grabbing his wrist and twisting it behind his back. “Do that again and you won’t have any fingers left.” I warned.

“Feisty; you know I like it rough.” Josh grinned at me.

I shoved him away from me before facing forward again and ignoring his comments. Thankfully, the show started a few minutes later and Louis and I were walking down the stairs, arms linked.

“This week the celebrities had to pick the best year of their lives and relive them for their dances this week.” Anthony spoke into the camera. “First, we’ll see what Louis Tomlinson chose as the best year of his life.”

The lights dimmed and the video package from our week of practice began playing. All the other couples left the floor and I could see Liam, Zayn, Harry and Niall walk up on stage, while I heard Louis on the video choosing the song.

“’The dance is about a couple who are in love with each other, but the circumstances won’t allow them to be together, all the while the man is saying all the things he loves about her.’” On-screen me was saying.

“Ready?” I asked Louis.

“Ready,” he stated.

We turned away from each other before the lights lifted and Niall began playing. “And I’m joining up the dots with the freckles on your cheeks and it all makes sense to me.” I rested my head on his shoulder before rolling down and spinning into an arabesque.

You’ve never loved your stomach or your thighs, the dimples in your back at the bottom of your spine.” Louis set me down after a lift before stepping back when Louis stepped forward; I reached back as Louis reached over me, leaning back at Liam’s words ‘dimples in your back’. Louis crushed me against his chest before spinning me around.

I stepped away, watching as Louis did a couple of turns before facing me for the lift. I took a deep breath before running to Louis.
