13. The Kiss and The Truth

Niall took two long strides and caught up to me. He grabbed my wrist. ‘I’ll drive you to the damn café,’ he muttered irritably, leading me to his car. He opened the passenger door, placed his hand on my lower back and gently pushed me inside. When he shut the door, I jolted. Then, he walked around the car, muttering curses, and when he climbed into the driver’s seat, he said, shaking his head, ‘You’re a pain in my arse, cupcake.’

I looked at my knees, hiding a smile. I loved it when he called me cupcake. Niall turned on the engine, pulled out onto the street and drove towards The Billiard Room café. I lifted my head up and stared at his face. Niall was looking at the road, gripping the wheel. He was so angry with me. In fact, he had never been so angry with me before. So, to me that only meant one thing. He freaking cared! If he only admitted it, that would be great.

‘Ten seconds ago, you didn’t want me to go to the café, and now, you’re driving me there? Why?’ I asked.

‘I don’t want you walking alone at night,’ Niall groaned. ‘It’s dangerous.’

I glared a little. ‘It’s only eight, Niall,’ I told him.

Niall shrugged. He still wouldn’t look at me. He only looked out the windshield. Niall cleared his throat before he asked, ‘What did you mean exactly when you said that you’re going to let Jimmy do whatever he wants to you?’

I rolled my eyes and looked out the window. ‘What do you think?’ I asked in a quiet voice. Niall didn't reply, he was quiet, so, I went on, pushing him to his limits, ‘I’m going to sleep with him. I want him to be my first.’

At that, Niall pulled his car over abruptly and I swallowed hard. Uh oh. I thought he was going to lecture me or scold me or maybe even yell at me, but he didn’t. Instead, he grabbed my face and melted his lips into mine. He hesitated before he licked my lower lip, asking for permission. My heart skipped a beat, and the second I parted my lips, Niall put his tongue into my mouth. His tongue teased and played mine while he gently sucked my lips. My body was stiff, I thought I couldn’t breathe, but when I finally began to relax, Niall pulled away. Still holding my face, he kissed all over my mouth. He softly kissed both corners, my top lip and my lower one. For a moment, he looked into my eyes with a sad smile on his face, stroking his thumbs on my cheeks. And then, he let me go with the heaviest sigh.

‘I wish I could take you away, love you and protect you for as long as I live, but I bloody can’t,’ Niall confessed, running a hand through his hair. He was looking out the windshield again, but then, he looked at me, at my face, and finished his confession, ‘Last night, I asked Dalia to marry me. She said yes. We’re engaged.’

My mouth fell open. My eyes filled with tears. And my heart broke into a million pieces. ‘So, let me get this straight, you want me, but you’re marrying her? Why?’ I cried. ‘How can you kiss me like that, but then, tell me that I can never have you, that you’ll never be mine?’ I asked and two tears dropped out of my eyes. ‘I hate you,’ I shouted, hitting him on the shoulder.

‘Come on, angel, don’t say that,’ Niall said with a pained look on his face.

‘I want you to stop calling me angel and cupcake,’ I demanded, but my lower lip was shaking.

Niall was quiet for a moment, but then, he nodded. ‘Whatever you want, Emma,’ he said. He was heartbroken.

It hurt me seeing him in pain, but I kept strong, wiped my tears away and finished him off, ‘And I want you to stay away from me.’ Niall’s blue eyes widened. I went on, ‘I thought you were the only person in this whole wide world that could never hurt me, but you did. Dad was right. Stay away from me.’ Niall bowed his head, hiding his face behind his hands, but I turned away. When I got out of his car, Niall drove back to my house.

I walked in The Billiard Room café and spotted Jimmy playing a game of pool with three other boys that looked a few years older than him. Jimmy had a pool cue in one hand and a bottle of beer in his other. Most of the people at the café were guys, so, when they noticed me, they all stared. Some whispered stuff to each other and some others whistled. All the whispers and all the whistling got Jimmy’s attention, so, he looked at my direction. When his brown eyes met mine, a wide grin broke across his face. He put his beer down, pushed his pool cue into one of the other boys’ stomach and walked over to me.

‘I thought you wouldn’t come, Styles,’ Jimmy said, still smirking. ‘Do you play pool?’ he asked.

‘No, I haven’t played before,’ I replied.

‘Come on, I’ll teach you how to play,’ he said, offering me his hand. I looked at his hand for a moment. Jimmy had big hands with long fingers. Just like Dad. And right now, Jimmy’s hand looked warm, soft and inviting. So, it only took me second to decide my next move. I grabbed Jimmy’s hand, leading him outside. And Jimmy let me drag him out of the café with a big, smug and satisfied smile on his face.

‘I’m ready,’ I told him. I was determined. I wanted Jimmy to make me forget about Niall, so, I said, ‘I want to sleep with you tonight.’

Jimmy chuckled, folding his arms. ‘Are you sure about this, babe?’ he asked.

I swallowed hard. ‘Yes,’ I nodded.

‘Fine,’ Jimmy shrugged coolly. He went on, ‘We can go at my place. My house’s not far from here. We can walk there.’

‘Okay,’ I nodded again.

Jimmy laughed before he placed his hands on my arms and rubbed them. He said, looking at my face, ‘Hey, relax, babe, yeah? We’ll have fun, I promise. Come on, let’s go.’

And then, Jimmy and I walked side by side towards his house.

I stole a couple of hours to write this chapter! The next update will probably be on Tuesday though.

Also, friendly reminder that Ian Somerhalder, from The Vampire Diaries, is 34, like Niall is in this fanfic, and he's smoking hot! But it's perfectly understandable if some of you are creeped out that Niall is so much older than Emma.

Anyhoo, thanks for reading! Comments and thoughts on the new chapter? ~ Marlboro. :) xx ~
