5. The Spark

Zayn’s POV

I ran fast, the pizzeria is only few metres away from the hotel and yet I am breathless; guilt is taking over me. I wanted to wait for Lea in the pizzeria; but the boys will surely look for me there. I found an internet café, and decided to spend the day and wait there until the night takes over the city. I was tired and confused, I have no one to talk to right now; everything is hitting me like a train; everything is falling apart. I had to look for comfort, and the only place I can think of right now is right beside of Lea; the person who I am blaming this whole situation I got into. I have to confront her, and confess my feelings for her. The day past by slowly, and only did I notice that I dozed out in the café room.

“Hey!” the voice boomed across the café room, and there I saw a large woman. I looked at my watch; 10:45 pm. Shit.

“I’m really, really sorry. Here,” I took out a fifty euro dollar in my pocket, “I hope this is enough,” as I bolted out the internet café and into the pizzeria.

The pizzeria is right below the Grant’s apartment, so knocking on the pizzeria door won’t do much for me; so instead I shouted. It seems a dumb idea, but if I am not able to tell anyone what I’m feeling right now; I might lose control of my anger again. I shouted, and shouted; I would’ve expected the remaining folks in the area to be suspicious of me; but instead they were watching me with bizarre smiles on their faces. Damn it, this is France; they would think I’m courting Lea. I ignored them and yelled again, until I saw a light flicker in a room facing the plaza. I looked above, hoping it was Lea; and it was. The window rolled up and there she was, in her silk white night dress, and her luscious brown hair was tied in a bun. Her expression was priceless; the confusion on her face was not to be ignored. I smiled and laughed, forgetting about the immorality I have done to Louis. This girl is one of a kind.

“Good evening, I guess..,” she was surprised, I could hear it by the tone of her voice, “so…,uhm, do you want to come in?”

“Uh, if you don’t mind,” I smiled and I swear that I felt a sparkle right in my heart; this girl got me into trouble; and I don’t regret any of it. I want her to be mine, and she will be mine.

Lea’s POV

It was 11:00 o’clock in the evening, and I was awakened by the sound of my name. I looked around me and made sure I wasn’t hallucinating or dreaming. My headache is bothering me, I have taken up so many painkillers and yet the pain in my head is still killing me. I lay back down on my bed, and there it was again; the sound of my name. I turned around and walked up towards the window and told myself it was impossible for me to have someone calling my name. I clicked on the window lock and with all my strength lifted the window, welcoming the cool brisk wind from outside. And there he was, standing, smiling, staring.

Zayn’s POV

“Hey, thanks for letting me in. I have nowhere to stay tonight, I think the lads are still mad because of my reckless actions,” I explained to her as I follow her to a narrow hallway that leads to her room. I was greeted by a chilly room that smelled of sweet cinnamon, her room was astonishing. I was amazed on what she did to her room, the pictures, drawings, quotes, posters, and stuffed toys; all arranged in a neat order. I looked around and I was taken to a different world; it was wonderful.

“Before you explain me what happened, should I get you a drink or anything?” she calmly asked me, as she cleans up the blood stain on my knuckles.

“Uh, anything you can give,” I chuckled as she smiled at me.

“I’ll be right back then,” she answered.

Lea left the room; I couldn’t help but wander around the room. She’s a good artist. Her photography, drawings, and painting were laid out in a fashioned way. She is an amazing painter; her paintings are so modern yet so classy. I observed every detail of her paintings and sketches. I sat down on the edge of her fur laden bed, and ran my hands on the glossy pelts that were covering the mattress. Her beddings were made of silky material that were messily laid upon the bed, and under the pillows was a journal. I held the journal that is made of leather, I was intrigued. I opened the diary full of small pictures, sketches, and daily happenings. As I was eyeing Lea’s personal life, one page stood out for me; it was a sketch of my face. I was overwhelmed with joy; I am in a girl’s personal journal. I smiled and looked straight and there I saw my reflection on a mirror looking right back at me. It was then that I realized that I changed so much. I saw myself and compared the reflection to Lea’s sketch; it was almost the same, the sketch was beautifully detailed. I stared at it for a while, that I didn’t realize that Lea was in the room looking straight at me.

“Oh, hey,” as I quickly dropped the journal, “I’m sorry; I was rummaging through your stuff.” I looked into her blue eyes and said, “Look, I need to tell you something.”

“That’s why you’re here,” she laughed a little and sat down right beside me handing me a soda can of Orangina, “so, what is happening?” as she took a huge gulp of a bottle wine she is holding.

“Wait, aren’t you too young to be drinking?” I was concerned.

“Zayn, I’m 18 and I’m inside of my house and I’m pretty sure that you won’t be telling on me, right? So, vas’ happening?” she smirked after her explanation.

“Look, you know how we met in the other side of the city? Right in front of the radio station? Remember?”

“Yeah, why? What about it?” she asked back. I placed the can of Orangina on the floor and grabbed the bottle of wine out of Lea’s hands and drank from it.

“Well, when I saw you. I saw something different,” I explained as I try to drink more from the bottle. She laughed, and took the bottle and after consuming a bit of wine; she passed it back to me. “Something I don’t see very often, something I want in a girl. I don’t know what it was until I realized that you could be easily taken away from me, do you want to know what made you different?” she nodded casually. “There was a glimmer that made me want you. A spark that gave me the desire to make you feel like you’re the only girl for me; I want you to be mine.”

Lea’s POV

This guy is crazy, I only met him two days ago and here he is, staring at me and confessing his feelings for me. No matter what I think of him, I know I feel the same for him; but I can’t date him. I can’t; NO - turning this boy down is like letting go a piece of my heart.  I feel the alcohol taking effect, the lampshade on the side table became two instead of one; my vision went into a complete blur; I shook my head slowly. I could see him still staring at me – and then he reached out for my face and kissed me.

Zayn’s POV

I touched her soft face and kissed her. My day went to a complete mess into a wonderful adventure; her lips were as soft and passionate as it can be. I can feel her returning the kiss, and there it was again the sparkle in my heart transforming into something bigger; and all I could do was rest her down on the bed and hope for more.
