Cocktails and Cigarettes

When Bethany has relationship problems, she finds comfort in going to clubs and drinking. So what happened when she begins to shadow Lou Teasdale? Will her and Harry hit it off, or will she push him away because the cocktails and cigarettes bring her more comfort? *Includes self harm references/actions, cursing, sex, smoking, and alcohol*

25. Ch. 25

Here’s how it all went; I woke up, smoked, went to school, I would sneak smokes during school, got home, changed into my partying clothes, went to get drunk, and smoked on my way home from the club. Harry had tried to get in touch with me, but I have been ignoring every call; well, almost. I would answer him once a day and tell him I was working and hang up, never calling him back.

“Are you ever going to call him back?” Jessie, my co-worker asked one day when I was at work after school.

“I don’t know…” I whispered, making her shake her head.

“You have to tell him! He likes you and not everyone has a pop star bowing down to them.”

“I don’t either.”

“Bethany…you have at least seven missed calls from him at the end of each day. One day you’re going to get home and he’ll be waiting on your doorstep wanting to know what happened.”

“That won’t ever happen. He’s way too busy for me.”

“I don’t believe that.” I shrugged and shook it off. I walked away, going back to work, and not wanting to deal with Jessie anymore. It was all too much for me.

“Have you heard from her?” Niall asked me. I shook my head sadly and sunk into the couch.

“It’s like…as soon as we got back from Australia, everything we had fell apart. Now she’s too busy for me and I don’t understand. She only goes to school and work like a normal teenager while I’m the one touring the world.”

“You have to keep in mind that she’s also working for Lou Teasdale so…she can’t exactly make time for everything and everyone.” I sighed and shook my head, knowing Niall was right. “She’s going to come around Harry, don’t worry.” I nodded again and sighed.

“I hope so…” I whispered before getting up and making my way to the bathroom so I could get ready for bed. I had enough stress for the past week and needed a nice hot shower to relax before bed.

“GET UP SLEEPY HEAD!” I heard Louis yell into my ear the next morning.

“What is it?” I groaned.

“Simon called; we have a photo shoot today.” I nodded and pulled myself out of bed.  Didn’t bother to change or do anything to myself since I knew the workers would do all that for me. Thank god for people who actually do this as a job so I don’t need to do it by myself.

When we got there, Simon met us in the doorway of the building, letting us in. Simon gave me a weird look since I was pretty much the only one who looked absolutely wrecked.

“Harry, are you alright?”

“I’m just really tired is all.” Simon nodded and led us back into the styling room.

“SORRY I’M LATE!” We all turned and Bethany was standing there out of breathe and her hair was a mess. “I had just gotten to school when Lou called me so I had to take a taxi.”

“That’s alright Bethany, just get started.” She nodded furiously as Simon walked out of the room. She dropped her books on the couch and sighed as she walked over to the racks of clothes.

“Bethany…” I whispered, hovering over her. She jumped back, nailing her head into my chin, making us both yell in pain.

“What the hell, Harry?!” She snapped. I gave her an odd look and saw the sadness she was trying to press back.

“Are you okay?”

“I just need a smoke is all.” She mumbled, turning back to the clothes.

“I thought you quit?”

“I did for the time we were in Australia. Now that we’re back it’s like nothing changed.”

“What are you implying?”

“I’m implying nothing has happened. As far as I’m concerned anything that happened in Australia is a lie.” I choked up, not sure how to react to that.

“What about us?” I whispered, finally.

“There is no us. I work for you, Harry. It’s wrong to date someone you work for. It makes the person up higher look really bad.”

“Did Simon talk to you?!” I demanded to know. Bethany went silent, not responding to me. “Bethany…”

“Can you please just let it go?” Bethany whispered without turning to face me. I felt tears well up in my eyes as I turned away from her. I walked over to the couch and sunk down onto it, not wanting to be seen at all. Simon had talked to her…there was no other way she would’ve just forgotten all about us in that amount of time. She still had to care…just how exactly do you get someone so set on something to admit that they do actually care still? That defiantly sounds easier said than done since…Bethany was a stubborn girl. Yet…I still cared about her so much.

Yes, Simon talked to me. So what? It didn’t mean I didn’t have plans to end it with Harry before. Or maybe it did…I don’t know; either way I didn’t want to make Harry look bad. I didn’t have the heart to do that. Besides…I had the cocktails and cigarettes to keep me going and that is all I’ll ever need.
