Cocktails and Cigarettes

When Bethany has relationship problems, she finds comfort in going to clubs and drinking. So what happened when she begins to shadow Lou Teasdale? Will her and Harry hit it off, or will she push him away because the cocktails and cigarettes bring her more comfort? *Includes self harm references/actions, cursing, sex, smoking, and alcohol*

18. Ch. 18

When it was time for the dinner, I was waiting patiently in the living room for her to come out. I had gotten ready with the help of Louis, but he had left as soon as I was ready. I was anxiously awaiting Bethany, but she seemed to be taking her dandy, slow time.

I looked at myself once more in the mirror before deciding I looked good enough. I had on a short, bright blue, sleeveless, skin-tight dress with white shoes and jewelry. I had curled my hair and added little white bows to my hair to clip back some extra strands of hair that were always in my face. I bit my lip and ran my hands over my dress before grabbing my purse, and walking out to meet Harry.

“I’m ready.” I said, making him jump up. He froze though when he saw me.

“You look…beautiful.” Harry whispered, making me blush.

“Thank you…” I smiled weakly as Harry walked over to me, He lifted my chin and kissed my lips softly, making me blush even more.

“Are you ready for whatever this night is?”

“I’m as ready as I’ll ever be.” Harry laughed and offered me his arm. I took it as he led us downstairs to the restaurant.

“Uhm…reservations for Harold E Styles?” Harry asked slowly.

“Ah, yes; you rented the place out.”

“I did?” The host looked at us like we had four heads and nodded. “Right, I did.” Harry said, nodding with him. I giggled softly, making Harry nudge me. We were seated and as soon as we sat down, platters were brought to us. We were given wine, and lobster…more than I knew what to do with.

“Enjoy.” The host said as he walked away.

“What the hell…” Harry questioned. I started giggling, allowing Harry to kick me from underneath the table.

“Shut up; I defiantly didn’t do this.”

“That’s defiantly something you tell a girl on the first real date they’ve ever been on.”

“I wasn’t going to lie; you know I didn’t do this due to the invite we got this afternoon.”

“That’s true…but still; you can at least pretend to know what’s going on.”

“I’d rather not because than I’d actually have to know what’s going on and plus I’m a terrible actor.”

“Yeah, okay. I’m sure you’re just fine.” I pointed out as I reached for the lobster. Harry laughed and reached for the lobster also. We ate and joked together, just as friends. After we finished the lobster, we were brought out mint sorbet.

“This stuff is the shit.” I said happily, making Harry laugh.

“That’s defiantly one way to describe it.”

“I know, right?” Harry laughed again, making me smile. His laugh could always bring a smile to my face.

“So…” Harry said slowly.

“What?” I asked as I finished off my sorbet.

“Would you like to dance?” I looked around and giggled.

“There isn’t any music though…”

“So?” I smiled at him and nodded.

“Sure.” Harry stood up and offered me his hand and walked me over to the small dance-floor near the center of the room. He pulled me to him like we were ballroom dancing and started to slow dance with me. After a few steps, I made my way closer to him and rested my head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat. “Bethany?”

“Hmmm…” I hummed into his chest.

“Will you be my girlfriend?” I pulled away, stopped dancing, and looked at him.

“Are you serious?”

“Well…I wasn’t kidding…”

“Can’t I get in trouble or something since I technically work for you…?”

“I don’t see any rule against me dating you.” I giggled and started to smile.

“I would love to.” I said happily. Harry smiled, pulled me back to him, and kissed me before started to dance with me again. Honestly, this night turned out better than I expected. I was finally Harry’s…now I just had to learn how to not push him away…
