13. Ch. 13

Around eight, I was only halfway through my homework but there was a knock on my door. I figured it was Zee and Bradie so I called for them, saying they could come in.

“You looked stressed.” I jumped when I heard Harry’s voice. He came in and sat across from me. “I brought you some Nandos.” Harry put a bag on the table. I took the bag and saw some chicken, mashed potatoes, and a salad sitting in the bag.

“How did you know?” I asked.

“How did I know what?” Harry asked, looking confused.

“That this was my favorite thing at Nandos, and how did you know I needed this?”

“You wouldn’t answer my calls. I left you a voicemail asking if you wanted to grab something to eat but when you didn’t answer I figured you were busy so I stopped by…”

“You’re…a life savor.” I said. Harry laughed and put on the teapot again, to boil some water. “Make yourself at home.” I joked. Harry laughed again and sat back down.

“I just want you to know I actually do care, and I’m not just going to leave you.”

“What makes you think I think that…?”

“Your eyes.” Harry whispered. I looked down and bit my lip.

“Thank you.” I whispered.

“Of course. I’m going to watch some TV while you do your homework.” Harry said as he stood up. He walked out of the kitchen and to the living room. I couldn’t help but smile to myself how much this boy was trying with me. I shook my head a little as I turned back to my work and dinner.

Around ten, I joined Harry in the living room. I decided I wasn’t going to tell him about me shadowing his stylist. I figured it would be a slightly nice surprise for him and the rest of the boys…but mainly Harry.

“Did you finally finish?” Harry asked as I sat down next to him.

“I finished most of it. I still have more but I was getting tired.”

“You’re too lazy for your own good.”

“Yeah, judge me.” I said as I turned to him.

“I planned on it.” Harry said, smiling at me. I shook my head as I turned my attention to the TV. We were both silent for a few minutes, before Harry started talking again. “Do I bother you?”

“Excuse me…?” I asked as I turned to look at him again.

“Well, do I?”

“No. Why would you think that you do?”

“Because whenever I’m here you barely talk to me…”

“That might be to the fact that you know most everything about me, I know pretty much nothing about you minus the basic, public knowledge, the fact that you’re this big celebrity sitting in my apartment, and because I don’t know your fascination with me.”  I pointed out.

“My fascination with you can be either a very simple or very complicated answer…depending on how you take my answer.”

“Let’s hear it.” Harry ran his hands through his hair and sighed.

“It’s mainly because you treated me normally. I’ve never met a girl that couldn’t put two and two together with who I am and when she did, freak out because she didn’t like me. It made me want to know you more because I saw one side of you that liked me and I didn’t want to let that go because it’s been so long since I’ve ben treated normally…”

“So, it’s basically because I treat you like a normal human being?”

“Yeah, if you want the short version.”

“It might’ve been easier for me to comprehend, but thank you I guess.” I said with a shrug.

“I just…want to warn you.” Harry said slowly.

“Warn me about what?”

“If you want me to leave now, just tell me…”

“What the hell are you talking about?” I demanded.

“The paps will be up your bum about us…” Harry said slowly. I stayed quiet, not sure what to say. I could’ve told Harry to leave right then and I wouldn’t have to deal with all the paps but the other part of me said that I didn’t care, and that I liked him, and wanted him to stay. “If you want me to leave so you won’t have that problem, I’ll leave now and you’ll never see me again…” I looked over at Harry and his eyes were begging for an answer. I reached over and touched his cheek with my fingertips.

“Stay…” I whispered. Harry smiled and I leaned in to kiss him.

“I will. I won’t go anywhere.” I raised an eyebrow at him. “Except starting on Monday; I start work again on Monday.”

“Do you now?”

“Yeah…?” Harry said slowly. “Why?”

“I was wondering when you went back to work so I would have to get used to taking a cab again.”

“That poor cab driver must wonder where you’ve been recently.” Harry joked.

“Oh, I bet he’s worried sick about me.” I said as I rolled my eyes. Harry laughed and we turned our attention back to the TV.

“I think I should get going.” Harry said at the end of the show.

“Okay…I’ll see you whenever.”

“I’ll…I’ll call you.” Harry said as he stood up. I stood up after him and walked him to the door.

The rest of the week went by quickly. Harry came over every day this week to talk. I always stopped my homework at ten, or tried to have it done by ten so Harry and I would have time to talk and get to know each other on a more personal level without the alcohol and touching; like two friends just hanging out.
