1. The Beginning.

Every morning would be the same routine for William. Wake up, catch up on the morning newspaper, water the plants and feed the old beagle dog named Lenny. Then it would be out the door to the local diner called Black Bear. Although it had become a worldwide food chain, William still enjoyed to watch the people there and occasionally talk to the waiters and waitresses. There was one woman that caught William's eye though. He had never had the guts to talk to her, but she was very alluring. Snow white hair with a pair of different colored eyes. She had a condition called Heterochromia, which wasn't very common at all. It made her personality feel a lot more interesting to say the least.

The first time William had laid his eyes on her, there was something strange in her. Although she was beautiful, he knew she had a side to her that was dangerous. Throughout the years, her appearance has not changed. It was as if she was not a human. She had never taken one glance at William..

Until today.

"Excuse me ma'am, I couldn't help but notice your different eye colors. It seems peculiar to ask this, but is it a genetic for you?" William said. He felt a big lump form in his throat and quickly pinched himself from the nervousness he was feeling.

She didn't speak a word. "I see you're a woman of not many words. I'm William Cale." he reached his hand towards the woman.

"Helen Mara." she muttered.

"Ah, very nice name.. Are you related to the actress Rooney Mara?"

"I.. don't believe so." she said. "I do believe my father was an actor.. seems like a very difficult occupation."

"Yes." William couldn't believe he was talking to the woman he had seen for many years, but had never talked to. She seemed very timid, yet strong. It was a perfect mix that seemed to lure William in.

"Helen, I was wondering if you would call me. We could continue this conversation over the phone if you'd like." William felt like a teenager again. Even if he was 62, you could still live a life full of fun. It reminded him of the days of mayhem; boisterous and risky activities that were great memories still to this day. After exhanging numbers, it was all set. William and Helen would get to know each other more. "I'll call you this evening, around 3:30. Sound good?"

She remained as motionless as a statue. "Of course.." she looked at William directly in the eyes. The world around William was gone as the sight of Helen was very mesmerizing. Once he was back to reality, Helen was suddenly gone.
