Now Or Never

Niall and Emma got along from the day they met. Both the same age, Niall being 6 months older than Emma. They’ve known each other since they were three. The two spent every day with each other. And by coincidence they were in the same classes. They were two peas in a pod, the best of friends, almost like siblings I guess you could say. Until one day everything went downhill. As they were both 8, Emma’s mother died. In addition, her father started drinking and smoking and eventually went into depression. Emma and her father had moved from Miami, Florida to Los Angeles, California. The two inseparable were torn apart.

~Harry’s P.O.V.~

The song finished and she still hasn’t woken up yet. We gave her encouraging words and still nothing. I was about to let go of her hand when I saw her eyes flinching. “Emma, come on. Your almost there.” We all said in unison. Her eyes opened and tears of joy began filling our eyes. “Welcome back.” Jack said. “Glad to see you decided to join us.” Louis added. “Hey, babe.” I said. She didn’t say anything. She just gave me a kiss with more passion than she ever had. I was shocked at first but kissed back. “I missed you so much.” I told her. “We all did.” Zayn said. We gathered a group hug. “Thanks guys. I saw my mother. It’s all because you guys that guided me back. But how long has it been? From where I was it’s been a whole year.” She asked. “It’s been a month.” I answered in reply. “I should call Dr. Davies.” Louis said.

“Hey, look who’s up.” She said. Emma smiled. “Okay, I’m going to ask that you guys leave the room for a check-up.” The Doctor said. “Wait, what? No, she just woke up.” I said frustrated. “Harry, it’s okay. It’ll just be for a bit. “Okay.”

“Emma is ready to go home. She will need to be on crutches for 2-4 more weeks. I prescribed some pain medication for the wound. You still need to rest for a bit and come to get a check-up every week. No sports, but you may go out to eat or watch movies, etc.” Dr. Davies told us, with Emma already dressed and ready to go. “Thank you.” We all said. “And if the pain medication doesn’t relieve the pain within an hour or two I need you to come straight back.” She gave us one last detail. “Okay.” With that we left.

We made our way home and I took Emma straight to our room. The boys set up the whole house and actually did a pretty good job. Turns out Jack lives next door with his brother, Finn. We lied on the bed and immediately cuddle being careful for her wound and leg. “I’m so glad your back.” I said looking into her eyes. “Me too. It’s been so long. A year in the before-after-world is what I call it.” She told me. “Emma, I’m sorry.”

“Hmm?” She responded a little confused.

“I’m sorry you got hurt. I promised you I would make sure nothing would happen to you.” A tear streamed down my face.

“Harry, there was nothing you could’ve done. It’s not your fault. My dad is a crazy bastard and there’s no helping it. I love you.” She said wiping away my tear. “Please, don’t think about it any further.” I nodded. “Promise me.”

“I promise.” I said and gave her a kiss. We were both a little tired, me getting no sleep and her from all the medication she had to take before leaving the hospital. We didn’t even bother trying to stay up, we just fell asleep in each other’s arms.
