Summer Love

Summer hasn't thought about what happened all those years ago for a very long time, but those memories are forced back to her when her 17-year-old daughter, Darcy, needs to write a story based on something that actually happened. As these memories come back, will Summer have to re-think everything she did that summer and in the end, did she make the right choice?

Summer Love

Chapter Three - Really?

I woke up the next morning with a smile on my face, replaying the events of last night in my mind. My favorite memory was looking up at watching Harry’s face inch towards mine. We had spent the rest of the night dancing and kissing. His beautiful green eyes were all I saw, well that and his smile. He had walked me home that night and kissed me on my front porch then promised to call me and I really hope he will. I got up out of bed, unable to wash the smile of my face. I walked downstairs into the kitchen where Sandra was making tea,

“Morning Sandra.” I said

“Morning sunshine. What has you in such a good mood?” she asked with a smirk on her face.

“Is dad home?” I asked, looking around.

“Nope, he is out with your sister. He and Kristy went to visit her blood grandparents because they are in Miami this weekend. So will you tell me why you are so happy?”

“Okay, well I was at the Beach Bash and, well, Andrew was there…” I began.

“Oh my god, Andrew? What’d he do?”
“Well he was trying to force me to dance with him, but then Harry showed up and got Andrew to leave and he asked me to dance. While we danced to Chasing Cars he sang in my ear and then we kissed and it was just… just perfect.”

“Awe, I’ve never seen you blush so much.” Sandra joked

I quickly covered my cheeks with my hands out of embarrassment.

“So are you going to see him again?” she asked, cockily. I smiled down at my feet and nodded,

“I really hope so.”

Just then, there was a knock on the door. Sandra looked up at me, “You can get that.”

I sighed then laughed, “Fine then, if I must do everything.”

I walked out into the front part of our home and quickly looked in the mirror. I was still in my pjs, wasn’t wearing makeup and my hair was a mess, so I quickly threw my hair up in a bun and then answered the door. I opened the door and my jaw felt like it dropped all the way down to the floor. He looked at me oddly,

“Is this a bad time?”

I felt someone elbow me in the back. I turned around to see Sandra looking at me. I turned back to Harry,

“Um, no, I, uh just got up. Come on in. Harry, this is Sandra, my dad’s girlfriend.

“It’s nice to meet you.” Sandra smiled and shook his hand.

“You as well.” Harry replied.

“Well I need to go get ready for work, so I’ll just be upstairs.” Sandra said and she looked at Harry and me.

“Okay.” I replied. She walked upstairs and I turned to Harry once I heard her door close, “So what’s up?”
“Oh, um, well I just wanted to see you. But I’ll go if right now isn’t a good time.” He spoke shyly. I had watched so many 1D interview’s with my sister and I had never seen Harry so shy and nervous. I thought it was kind of cute. I smiled at Harry,

“No, no. Right now is fine. Here, come with me into the kitchen, I’ll get you some tea.” I offered and reached out to take his hand. He gladly accepted it and I lead him into my kitchen. I made us tea and we sat there awkwardly until Harry finally spoke up,

“So, um, well- I had a very nice time last night.”
I smiled and touched Harry’s hand, “I did too.”
“That’s good, I, um, well- god, I have never been this nervous around a girl. I’m really sorry if I’m coming off as a little weird.” Harry said

“It’s okay. I think your shyness is kind of cute.”

Harry blushed, “Well, look, it’s just last night when we kissed, I felt something and normally I don’t feel things that quickly. So I was wondering if you maybe wanted to go out to dinner tonight, with me.”
I smiled at Harry, “Of course, I’d love to.”

“Cool. The boys and I have a meet and greet with the fans, but how about I pick you up here around 7? We can go to that restaurant just up the boardwalk, I think it’s called Seaside’s.”
“Yep. I love that restaurant. I’ll see you here at seven o’clock Haz.” I said as I walked him to the door.

“I will see you at seven.” He winked and then left

--Back to Present--

“So, he was really that shy?” Darcy asked.

“He was.” I replied, “But he was so sweet and fun. That first date was probably the best date I have ever had…”

--Return to Flashback--

It was exactly seven when there was a knock on my door. I opened it up to a smiling Harry.

“Hello Summer. You look stunning.”

“Aw thanks Harry. You don’t look so bad yourself. In fact, you look very handsome.”

“Thanks.” he said and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I yelled to Sandra that I was leaving and took Harry’s hand. We walked hand in hand down the boardwalk towards the restaurant. When we got to the restaurant, Harry froze dead in his tracks.

“What is it Harry?” I asked

He pointed at a large group of people with cameras, “I guess somehow the paparazzi knew I was coming her tonight, and of course they needed a story. I am really sorry, but I just don’t think I can go in there. Rumors will start and it could drive you away. I really like you, and I don’t want the paps scaring you off.” Harry said looking down at his feet. I tilted his chin up and looked him in the eyes,

“It’s okay Harry. Don’t be sad. We can do something else.” I replied cheerfully. Harry smiled at me,

“I have an idea.”

“What is it?”
“Just one sec.” Harry replied and pulled out his phone, it rang and then whoever was on the other line picked up, “…Hey Niall, it’s Haz… Yea, are you guys home right now? … No? Awesome… the paps came to the restaurant so I had a different idea for our date… yes… okay… see you later Ni, say hi to the lads and the girls for me… bye…” and he hung up the phone then turned to me, “Zayn, Liam and Louis’ girlfriends- Perrie, Danielle and Eleanor- are in town, so they are going out to dinner and Niall was invited to join them, so I thought we could go back to my place and hang out. I can make you dinner, we can watch a movie.”

I smiled, “I’d love that Harry. Let’s go.”

Harry and I walked back to his place. We went into the kitchen. I sat down at the island and Harry walked over to the freezer. He grabbed something, but kept his back to me,

“Summer, I have decided to make you a specialty of mine.”

I laughed when he turned around and showed me a frozen pizza box, “I am going to make you a ‘Frozen-Pizza-A-La-Harry-Styles.”

I laughed again, “Yum, my favorite.”

Harry smiled and threw the pizza in the oven.

“I have an idea!”
“What is it?” he asked.

“Well because my sister is a hardcore directioner, I know that you are known as a ‘cupcake’, so let’s make cupcakes for after dinner.”

Harry smiled, “I like that idea.” He went and grabbed eggs and flour and the other ingredients. He turned on the radio a Super Bass was on. As we made the cupcakes, we danced around like idiots. Just as we finished preparing the cupcakes, the pizza was ready. So when Harry went to take the pizza out and put the cupcakes in, I reached my hand into the bag of flour and when Harry turned around a flicked it in his face.

“Sorry.” I replied cheekily.

“Awe, it’s okay babe.” Harry said as he put the pizza down. Then he grabbed something and started to walk slowly towards me

“Haz, what are you doing?” I asked, backing up.

“Just trying to add some more sweetness to you,” he said. He walked right up to me and we were so close my forehead was touching his nose, as we looked deep into each other’s eyes. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Harry’s hand go up and then felt something get dumped on my head. I watched the sugar fall off my head.

“Really mature Harry.”

“I know. You love it.” Harry smirked, “Now lets eat.”

We sat down and ate dinner, talked a little more. Harry was perfect. He may be a celebrity, but he was just so normal. One thing was making me a little scared though. When Andrew and I broke up, I built a huge wall around myself and nothing ever brought my guard down, but from the moment I met Harry, I felt my walls start to be torn down. I was scared at how fast my walls were coming down for him, but I was also excited.

When we finished dinner, the cupcakes still weren’t ready so Harry and I went into the living room. Kiss Me by Ed Sheeran came on the radio. Harry went and turned up the music then pulled me close. We slowly just danced there in his living room. We danced there in silence until Harry spoke up,

“Normally this isn’t the type of date I take girls on, especially for the first date. I’m sorry, I really wanted to impress you.”
“Harry, this is the best date I have ever been on. Honestly, I enjoy those fancy dinners and stuff, but they don’t impress me. Stuff like this, that’s what impresses me.”
“Really.” I smiled and kissed him lightly.
