Summer Love

Summer Love

Chapter Twenty-Five – Future

“Harry? Is that you?”

I was in complete shock. Standing there, right in front of me, the day after the wedding that never happened, was Harry Styles. Could this be a sign? I have to admit; I don’t think I have ever been happier to see ANYONE in my life.

His big green eyes pierced into mine as his killer smile crossed his lips,

“Yea it’s me.”

I stood up and gave him a big hug. God, I missed those hugs so much. I am pretty sure I saw a camera flash or two out of the corner of my eye, but I didn’t care. I pulled away and we shared an intense gaze. Was he going to kiss me?

We didn’t kiss, but I offered him a seat in my booth, and so he gladly slid in across from me,

“What are you doing here Summer? Did you and Noah come here on your honeymoon? I’m really sorry I didn’t come to the wedding, I just-”

I cut him off, “Harry, you don’t need to apologize for not having come to the wedding…”
It was his turn to cut me off, “I know, it’s just… I really care about you and I should’ve been there to support you on your magical day.” He said sadly then looked down the table.
“Harry, you don’t need to apologize for not having come to the wedding because there wasn’t one.”

Harry’s head shot up and I saw a spark of happiness and hope light up in his eyes, “What?”

I smiled at him, “We called off the wedding.”

“Because Hay House Publishers UK wanted to publish my book, but they needed me to move here. Noah didn’t want to move to a different country, so I didn’t tell him about it, but he found the letter and told me he’d hate to hold me back. We called off the wedding and I’m pretty sure we broke up.”

“Hay House Publishers? That’s amazing Summer. I am so proud of you. Your next stop is Best Author for the Teens-Choice Awards, because I am already certain it’ll be a best seller.”
“Thanks Harry.”

“But, I am really sorry to hear about you and Noah. From the looks of the pictures, you two were pretty crazy about each other.”

“Yea, but for some reason I’m not all that upset ‘bout it. I mean, yes it sucks that my marriage didn’t even get a chance, but I’m only 22 years old. I still have some life to live before I get married.”

“Well maybe if you have some time at some point maybe we could-” Harry was cut off by an incredibly annoying high-pitched voice,

“HARRY! There you are babe!”

I turned around to see some blonde bimbo with her face caked in makeup run up to us. Harry stood up and gave the girl a hug on the cheek. She smiled for a moment, but then her face changed into a death glare when she looked at me,

“Harry, baby, who’s your friend?”

“Oh right!!! Felicity, this is an old friend of mine. She just moved here to London. Her name is Summer.” He said, then turned away from the girl and looked at me, “Summer, this is Felicity. She’s my,”
“I’m is GIRLFRIEND.” Felicity said, emphasizing the word girlfriend and she stuck out her hand to shake mine.

“Ah, Harry didn’t tell me he had a girlfriend.” I said with a smile as I returned her shake.

“Well you didn’t tell me you weren’t getting married.” I heard Harry mumble. His girlfriend looked up at him,

“What was that babe?”
“Oh nothing.” Harry replied, “Hey, how about you go get us some drinks and sit down at our spot well I just say goodbye to my friend.”

The girl nodded and gave me a final death stare before trotting away.

“I’m pretty sure she knows who I am.” I said with a fake laugh.

“Uhh… yea. Summer I’m really sorry I didn’t tell you about her.”
“Why would you be sorry Harry? There is no need for you to apologize to me.”
It’s just the guys wanted me to move on because you were getting married and I didn’t have a shot with you.”

“Look Harry, I said it’s fine. I was over you, over us, a loooonnnng time ago. I’ve moved on and I’m happy you did too.” I said as I stood up, closed my laptop and started to leave.

“Well then, maybe we could hang out sometime? Catch up; I could give you a tour of London. If you’re free on Saturday…” He asked

I let out a sigh, “I dunno Harry. I’m going to be really busy with my book and stuff for the next few weeks, maybe some other time.”

And I left before he could respond.

They say you never get over your first love. That is defiantly a lie because there is no part of me at all that would want to go back to Andrew. Not even the slightest little bit. I think that if you are still thinking about a certain person while you are with someone else, you shouldn’t be with that person. I don’t know if today I was meant to find Harry or if it was just a coincidence, but I do know that since I got back to my flat, he was the only thing on my mind.

I went to unpack my final suitcase and sitting there on the top was the picture I kept by my bedside in my Florida home, the picture of the lads, the girls and I as well as the picture of Harry and I kissing in the sunset. I opened up the picture and noticed a little note,

‘I don’t think Hay House was the only reason you wanted to go to London. I have to admit, I ship Sarry too, but I will still always love you. –Noah’

I smiled at the note and lay back on my bed then drifted into a deep sleep.

Knocking on my door woke me up. I got up quickly and ran to the door. Opening it revealed Eleanor with a look of a mix of happy and worries.

“Hey El. What are you doing here?” I asked

“Well, Noah came and told everyone what happened, so we all flew home. When we got back to the boys place, there was a hole in the wall and Harry was pacing back and forth in deep thought, so we all instantly figured he saw you.”

“He did.”
“And he has a girlfriend.”
“I’m sorry Summer.”
“Why are you sorry? I am over Harry and I’m here to focus on my career. I didn’t come back for Harry.”

“See, I don’t really believe that.”
I didn’t say anything. I just glared at her. Eleanor raised her hands in surrender,

“Fine, fine. Anyways, do you want to go out to dinner tonight with me and celebrate?”

“Celebrate what?”

“The future you have ahead of you.”
