8. The Big Decision and Perrie's WHAT?

I grabbed my backpack and walked out to my car, driving quickly off to school. My stomach churned with anxiousness, Zayn would choose between Perrie and I.

Zayn’s POV

I walked into the crowded school hallways, jam-packed with people. I had to reveal my decision between Perrie and Aria today. After hard thinking and long talks with the boys I had chosen Aria over Perrie. Just as I began walking over to my locker, I felt my phone vibrating in my jacket pocket. I took out my phone to see I had received a text from Perrie that read, “We Need To Talk!” I weaved my way through throngs of people to see Perrie’s pink hair. Finally, I was able to push past tons of people to reach her; I held her hand and dragged her over to a less populated area. I looked up at her face; it was tear stained and her makeup was runny.

“What’s wrong love?” I said, deeply concerned. Although I wasn’t still in love with Perrie she was still my best friend and I deeply cared about her.

“I-I don’t know how to say this b-but, I-I,” Perrie stuttered out, tears thundering down her face. Perrie put her head in my shoulder and cried, I patted her back and held her close trying to comfort her.

“I just don’t know how to say this-“ Perrie started off again, she began to cry uncontrollably, her eyes bloodshot and mascara smudging down her wet face.

“It’s okay, tell me when your ready,” I cooed soothingly, putting a strand of pink hair behind her ear.

“Thanks,” Perrie said, a frown still on her face. “But the truth is, you need to know now,” Perrie said confidently.

“Okay, what is it?” I replied back, almost nervous about what was to come out of her lips.

“Zayn, the thing is, I am pregnant,” Perrie replied, in a soft whisper barely even audible.

“What?!” I screamed, I couldn’t believe my ears, was she being serious? Was I the father of the child Perrie would give birth to?

“I-I am so sorry, but you are the father,” Perrie replied back, tears starting to form again.

“It’s not your fault Perrie, we will get through this together,” I said trying to comfort her. “We will have to talk later, I have to go now,” I finished, wrapping her in a hug.

“Yeah, see you later,” Perrie replied, kissing me on the cheek.  I was in complete utter shock, how could this be? We were always incredibly careful and at this point, I wasn’t even in love with Perrie. I shook my head in disbelief, hoping to get advice from my mates. When I spotted the four of them walking down the hallway I immediately ushered them over, and spilled everything.

“Wow mate!” Niall said. “This is something even a good meal at Nandos can’t fix.” Niall finished.

“Well you are going to be a father,” Louis started off, “But what about Aria?”

“I am not sure, I feel a deep connection with Aria,” I started off, “ But I have to stay with Perrie, after all she is giving birth to our child.” I finished.

“But you don’t love Perrie, Zayn,” Liam said, absolutely correct as always.

“I know, but Perrie needs me now,” I said, trying to figure out the best thing to do.

“Well, I think you should tell Aria, she deserves to know,” Harry said.

“You are right, thanks for all the advice guys.” I replied in all honesty.

Time Pass

I walked into History class; I plopped down to a smiling Aria.

“Hey,” Aria replied, completely unaware of the terrible news she would soon receive.

“Um, hey,” I replied, as cheery as I could. “Look, there is something I need to tell you,” I said, a serious expression appearing on my face. Aria’s facial expression immediately dropped to a sad frown.

Aria’s POV

Here it was, I thought, Zayn was going to admit to me that he had chosen Perrie over me. I didn’t blame him or anything, Perrie was gorgeous, and popular and I was just me, an average girl, not popular or even the least bit gorgeous.

“You don’t have to say it, I know what you are going to say,” I started off, “You chose Perrie,” I said.

“The thing is, Perrie is pregnant with our child and she needs me right now,” Zayn replied.

“Yeah,” I replied, “I get it,” I finished. I had to admit, I was heartbroken, and I guess I cared about him more than I knew. I know I had never really got to know Zayn but that didn’t change the fact I was crushing on him.

“I-I am really sorry Aria,” Zayn said, “I would have liked to try to get to know you better, but-“ Zayn started off.

“No, focus on Perrie, she is the one you should care about not me,” I said.

“Aria, I didn’t mesn to hurt you-“ Zayn said.

“I am not hurt Zayn, I already knew I was going to be the one rejected,” I replied harshly.

“Aria, please just let me finish, we can still be friends,” Zayn said.

“Don’t feel bad Zayn, I have already received enough pity to last a lifetime,” I replied.

“The truth is Aria, I would have chosen you if Perrie hadn’t been pregnant,” Zayn said.

“I would like to believe that but what would have been doesn’t matter at this point anyway,” I finished off, a lump forming in my throat. With that, I walked out of the classroom leaving Zayn with an empty desk and a stunned expression upon his face.
