The Wheel turns

A poem I wrote based on one of the concepts prevalent in the (incredible) Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan.

1. The Wheel turns

The Wheel turns; the Wheel weaves
In a pattern only few perceive:
What was, what is, and what will be,
Combined in a glorious tapestry!

None at all can escape its weaving:
Our petty plans, our snide deceivings,
Will be the cause of our demise,
For none can escape the Wheel's ties.

All are connected, all entwined -
The best and worst of humankind.
The Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills.
The Wheel gives life and the Wheel kills.

None who live can see ahead:
None can view the fickle thread.
All that is - earth, sea and skies -
May yet fall prey to the Father of Lies.
