Southern Constellations

Romany Fitzgerald wishes one day to lead a frivolous and harmonic life pursuing her dreams, but first, she must complete the exhausting challenge of being an actual teenager. Romany believes her vicinity is filled with people who just do not understand, in fact, nobody understands. Most of all, there's a person she would give her left arm to avoid.

Austin Orion.

Hell-bent on bringing beautiful chaos into Romany's life, can Austin and Romany build a steady friendship on the ruins of a lifetime of hatred? This seems far too surreal for Romany, but she is unknowing of the hell and torment waiting for her around the corner; she was yet to lose possibly the most important thing she had in the world; music.
But she still has the constellations for guidance; looking for answers in a world that doesn't know the question, can Romany delve deeper into what is meant to be and follow her heart?

Did fate fall short this time?

A/N: Rated red for bad language and trauma.

14. Thirteen & a Half

The next few days were the hardest I'd ever experienced. A constant weight was hanging over my shoulders, no matter where I went. After visiting the mortuary with Austin, I was left with no more questions answered than I arrived there with. I had no reassurance about anything.

Austin and I were in charge of sorting everything out for the funeral, which was hard. Considering we were tight on money, it was hard to prepare a send-off which Lillian deserved. We tried our best, so we couldn't do any more. I scraped together all the money I'd saved over the years – which Austin refused to accept, but I persuaded him soon enough – and we managed to get lots of beautiful flowers, tulips: they were Lillian's favorite.

The beautiful thing was; since that day, Austin and I had been inseparable. And that was the beauty of togetherness. The best thing was, he wasn't the obnoxious, arrogant dick that I once knew. He was long gone. I liked this Austin. He was different. He was honest, genuine, and human. Because of what happened, I saw this whole new side of Austin I'd never even imagined, and I just prayed to God he wouldn't change back, not now, not ever.
