Gaia, a sixteen year old girl with big plans as a singer, decides to go downtown in her home town. She's in a restaurant, humming to herself while waiting for her best friend, when suddennly a swarm of girls overtakes her, and she gets locked in a back room with One Direction. They heard her singing earlier, and things get interesting as she falls in love with the boys, and they fall in love with her...

8. Harbor Party

We had entered through the gate and walked down the narrow walkway to the bank. We would be having a bonfire on the largest section beside the slowly running water. It was large enough to seem like a beach, and the hot air helped us imagine. The walkway, being very narrow, was only big enough to fit two people. Instead of going ahead, I stayed to wait for Taylor.

"You coming?" Said Harry, raising his eyebrow and smirking at me again.

I shook my head. "I'll wait until Taylor gets over here. She's talking to some guy."

"An old friend?" he asked, dimples showing.

I grinned. "Nope. They probably just met."

Harry shrugged, and turned towards the path. "Hurry up," he called back over his shoulder.

The other boys had already gotten down the path, and he ran to catch them. I could already smell smoke, and there was a dim light coming from the bank.

"Taylor!" I cried, urging her to move quicker.

"He wasn't up to my standards," she said, jokingly.

I shook my head. "Who is ever up to standards?"

Taylor smirked. "Apparantly Harry is. Based on how you two were-"

She laughed, and we half ran to meet the others. As we got closer, I realized I didn't know anyone. I glanced around nervously, but I couldn't find Nate, or the boys. I bumped straight into someone, and the guy spun around and grabbed my hand.

"Let go of me." I said, trying to sound like I wasn't scared.

It was a tall boy, and he had a mop of straight blonde hair. He looked like a stereotypical surfer, and I ripped my hand out of his.

"Come on girl," he said, "try and enjoy the party. Dance with me." It wasn't a question.

Taylor pulled his arm, and he let go of me. "This actually happens to be my best friend, and if you don't leave her alone, I'll break your arm."

I love Taylor, so much.

I sighed, rubbing my arm where there was red marks. Finally, someone caught the hint that we were lost, and Zayn came running forward.

"Hey, we're over by the fire." He said, touching my shoulder from the side.

I nodded, and followed him and Taylor towards the blaze.

It was a beautiful fire, and was burning on huge logs that sent columns of smoke into the air.

"Guy-Uh!" said Louis, putting his arm around my shoulders. "Meet Sydney, Madison and Chloe."

Two of the girls, Sydney and Madison I guessed, were glaring at me. Chloe was smiling and I felt better. Madison was a short brown haired girl, who was wearing too much makeup. It made her face look fake, and she was trailing her fingers down Harry's arm. Sydney, the also short blonde, was hanging over Liam, who looked so uncomfortable that he was making a face.

"If you'll excuse me, I have to go call my girlfriend." He said, as Sydney pouted.  She sidled up onto the other side of Harry once Liam was gone. I was trying not to pick up something and chuck it at both of them. I wanted to run over there and hug Harry. Or, at least do something to get them to back off.

The two girls were fixing me with steady daggers, and it made me uncomfortable. I sat down on the benches that were pulled up close to the fire. Harry took this opportunity, and sat down on the other side of me, towards the end of the log, and practically shedded the girls off of his side. This didn't make them very happy.

Chloe, being friendly, sat on my right. She seemed really nice, and she was very pretty.

"Don't mind them. They probably think Harry will pick them for his overnight fling," she said, whispering.

I couldn't help but laugh. "That's so awesome. They're making me a bit nervous."

"Oh, just in case you weren't sure, I'm Chloe."

"I'm Gaia, and let me tell you, it's nice that there are some girls other than Taylor," I motioned towards my best friend, "who doesn't mind that the boys talk to me."

She smiled. "Yeah, I know how you feel. I never understand why they get jealous over something so silly. He's not even theirs. He's got his eyes on something else."

I blushed, and she winked.

"Gaia! Took you long enough!" said Niall, bounding over. He stopped in his tracks, and looked at Chloe. "Hi, I'm Niall, and sorry... Was I interrupting?"

She looked absolutely starstruck. But unfortunately, Niall was unfazed.

"No, we were just talking. Niall, this is Chloe," I said, and then added, "she's the only other girl that doesn't hate me for talking to you."

Chloe flushed, embarassed. "I just think Gaia's cool. Not losing her cool in front of boys like you."

Niall nodded. "That's why we thought she'd be a really great tour guide."

"Tour guide?" Chloe said, lost.

"Yup. She's been showing us around town."

I smiled. "It's only been since yesterday, but we've had fun."

Niall pulled a bench closer to where we were sitting.

"So, Chloe. Where are you from?" Niall asked sweetly.

After a while, I got up and went towards a snack table someone had set up. I picked through an assortment of junk food, and I popped a few chips in my mouth.

"Looks like they're good together," Harry said, making me jump.

"Yeah, they look really cute. They also seem to be able to talk to each other. Maybe they'll be good friends," I said, smiling and watching Niall and Chloe talk.

"Probably," he said. Harry studied my face for a while, and then looked away blushing. I didn't know what was on my face, but I kept rubbing at different parts of my face.

"You're going to make your face red if you keep rubbing it," Harry said, laughing.

I grinned, and popped another chip in his mouth. He grabbed a handful, and motioned for me to follow.

"Let's go look at the water for a bit, alright love?"

I nodded and kept following him. When we got to the water, he dropped my hand, and I suddenly realized he had been holding it. I can't even remember when he took it.

"It's pretty," I sighed, watching the current.

"Yeah, it is." He sat down in the grass, and I sat down beside him. I wasn't very close to him, and there was no reason to be close enough to touch.

I suddenly got very nervous, and my palms were sweating. Harry looked at me concerned.

"You okay, love? Are you cold?"

I shook my head to say, "No, I'm not."

"You look cold," he said, and his arm grasped me around my middle and pulled me closer to him. My shoulder was pressed against his, and his arm was draped across my back. He had pulled me so that my head would come up to his chest, and my knee was on his. Both of my legs were in his lap, and I leaned into him, closing my eyes.

"We can sit here for a while," said Harry quietly.

"Thanks," I murmured, and his fingers brushed through my hair.

Harry shifted, and his lips touched the top of my head. I stared contentedly at his arm. Man... How did I not notice his muscles?

At this thought, I giggled, and he squeezed me tightly. "What's so funny?"

"Nothing," I said, smiling into his chest.

His fingers kept playing with the ends of my hair, and I relaxed. But a voice came from behind us, and my head jerked up.

"So that's where you went, girl. I was looking for you." The surfer-idiot from earlier said, obviously drunk.

Harry turned his head towards the guy, and his grip tightened. I could feel him get tense, and he hugged me closer, pulling me into his lap.

"I don't know you." I stated, angry.

"I think I remember her best friend said she'd break your arm..." Harry said, and the guys eyes widened.

"But she's not here right now. There's only you two," he said.

Harry sighed. "Just leave, before you get yourself in trouble."

"No way man, I saw this girl first. She came in with that girl, and bumped right into me. If it weren't for the girl..."

"If it weren't for her you'd be in some serious trouble." Harry said, getting angrier.

I placed a hand against his chest, and the guy sneered.

"So, you think she's yours?" He snarled, advancing closer to us. Harry narrowed his eyes, and grabbed my arm. He pulled me into his lap and his arm snaked around me.

"She is. So I'm sorry, but you're going to need to leave or I'll call the cops." Harry said, deadly serious.

The guy stalked away, muttering to himself about 'that girl'.

I sighed and covered my face with my hands.

Harry turned me in his lap, so that I was facing him.

"Don't be mad. I just wanted to say you're mine so that he'd-"

"Harry." I said, quietly.

"Yeah, love?"

I put my hands in my lap. "It's fine. Thank you... so much. What a creeper."

Harry smiled, and brought his hand  up to my cheek, and suddenly we were kissing again. I didn't think we could stop, (Not that I wanted to, of course.)

I reached up before I knew what I was doing and pushed my fingers through his curls, and he laughed against my lips.

I broke away for a second. "What?"

"Nothing," he said. "Don't stop yet." He kissed me again, and pressed me tighter into his chest.

"Harry..." I said, quietly, after a few minutes.

"Yes, love?" He said, rubbing circles on my back.

"Do you..."

~Harry's P.O.V.~

Man, kissing her was like a dream. She was so perfect, and I don't think she even knew. Speaking of things she doesn't know... She doesn't know how much I love her. I started to laugh when she fingered my curls, because it felt so amazing.

I've decided that I loved her. I can't stop thinking about her, and I'm sure this is what it feels like.

She doesn't know how perfectly we fit together, and she doesn't get how much I can hardly control myself when I'm near her.

So... I was about to tell her how I felt. But she beat me to speaking.

"Harry..." She said, and I jolted like I had been daydreaming. Please don't say we can't do this.... It's not something I can stop...

"Yes, love?" She also didn't know why I called her love.

"Do you... feel the same way that I do?" she said, and I studied her face, looking for a smile to confirm it's a joke.

She was dead serious, and I was thrilled.

"What do you feel?" I asked, curious.

"I like you," she said, and I couldn't help myself. I kissed her again, but briefly.

"I like you more than you know. But you're kind of oblivious." I said, laughing.

She grinned. "I've heard that before."

"So does this mean you want to-"

"Date," she finished. "Yeah, I really do. I can't seem to... keep you out of my head anymore. Even kissing someone else."

I thought of Niall, and a twinge of guilt ran through me. But, I wasn't ever going to let her go. Never.

"Good... because I was probably going to go insane if I didn't tell you another night." I said, truthfully.

"When did you start?" she asked, not quite meeting my gaze.

"We walked into that restaurant.. and you didn't even look up at us. All of us thought you were some mega fan who snuck in. We were impressed with you, which is why I think I started to pay attention to you. When Niall grabbed your arm and pulled you along into the back with us.. I couldn't figure out why it made me so... angry." I was gushing, but I finally had the chance to tell her how I felt.

"I think that every time some girl has hung over you, I've wanted to scream," she said, sending goosebumps up my arms.

"You've got goosebumps,'' Gaia said, concerned. "Should we go find some other, warmer place?"

I shook my head quickly. "No, I just wanna sit here with you. I feel like I'm going to wake up and find this is just a dream."

She pressed her face into my chest and wrapped her arms around my neck. I couldn't resist, and I craned my neck to kiss hers.

"Harry," Gaia said, in an alarmed voice.

"What is it?" I said, unbelievably worried.

"I think I'm in love with you."

My heart was going to stop. I could feel it, because of how hard it was beating. I swear, only Gaia could do this to me, and I wasn't going to let her leave.

"Good because... I love you too. Alot." I said, tilting up her chin.

For once, she kissed me. She pressed her lips to mine, and I stood up, and wrapped her legs around my waist.

"Can we tell... Taylor?" She said, fighting to speak between each kiss.

"Now?" I asked, not willing to leave.

"Maybe later..." she murmered, and I sighed happily.

"Gaia. I love you."

"I love you too, Harry."

Everything was perfect, and I would be sure to keep her happy. Nothing would ever come between us as long as I had a say in it. Everything was so unplanned... but just right.
